CV Roman Bronze Ring ***NEW*** LEGION BATTLE STANDARD SIGNUM ~ Possible Legio XI
ROMAN BRONZE RING Triple"SIGNUM" Battle Standard Motif Size 9 1/2 Average Opening = 19.41mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. Legions on the March! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia and dates from around 300 A.D. This ring features a flat. 16mm x 14mm oval bezel with some SUPERIOR engravings on it as well as an interesting lip decoration running along the bezels edge. Depicted on the bezel. Are a trio of Legion Battle Standards. This type is related to the"Vexillium" and has a pendant flag, this type also always had disks ... moreor circlets upon it. There is some debate as to which part of a legion these represented but there are some theories that these represented a particular Cohort within a Legion. You see a LOT of these on the reverse side of many Roman coins that had a Legionary significance. This is probably the most detailed example of this ring type that I have seen in quite some time. If you look closely at the little banner in the middle it looks like there is a XI for the Roman numeral 11 which may mean this was made for a soldier in the 11th Legion which was active in Eastern Europe for a few centuries. This is a well made ring with splendid decorations all the way around. Even the recessed rim has nice linear engravings on it. The color and shine of this ring are both 1st Rate and the solid looking band makes for an attractive ring. Above and below are 2 more views of this GREAT ring. The picture below shows the shine of the group of rings that I am offering tonight. This ring is Round& Sound and 100% wearable This ring has a Wonderful Golden color to it with faint patina traces remaining This ring is not a perfect circle but measures

Genuine Roman Silver Legionary Ring from Legio Decima Gemina (tenth twin legion)
Genuine Roman Silver Legionary Ring from Legio X Decima Gemina(tenth twin legion) Authentic Roman Silver Legionary ring either from Legio X Fretensis or probably due to the locality information near Carnuntum rather Legio X Gemina. The ring consisting of a flat band rounded from the outside and ending in a round bezel. The bezel depicting a Roman legionary Eagle with outstreched wings with two stars and a moon on top. One shoulder with engraved letters LEG. The other one with"X" The letters with massive abrasion and the" X" is better seen in the photos than in reality. Legio decima Gemina(Tenth Twin Legion) Was one of the four legions used by Julius Caesar in 58 BC, for his invasion of Gaul. There are still records of the X Gemina in Vienna in the beginning of the 5th century. Early on in its history, the legion was called ... moreX Equestris(mounted) because Caesar once used the legionaries as cavalry. In the Gallic Wars. X Equestris played an important role on Caesar's military success and for this reason is sometimes said to be his favorite. The legion was reconstituted in 42 BC and fought for Augustus(then Octavian) Lepidus and Mark Antony in the Battle of Philippi against the murderers of Caesar. The newly formed X Gemina was relocated to Hispania Tarraconensis, where Augustus was preparing a campaign against the Cantabrians. During the 3rd century. The legion fought for several emperors, who awarded the legion with titles showing the fidelity of the legion and the favour gained by the Emperor himself. The titles Antoniniana(awarded by Caracalla or Elagabalus) Gordiana(by Gordian III) Deciana(by Decius) Floriana(by Florianus) and Cariniana(by Carinus) were short-lived, however, and dropped after the death of the Emperor. For its support of Emperor Gallienus against Postumus, the Gemina was awarded the title Pia VI Fidelis VI, six times faithful, six times loyal"At the time in which Notitia Dignitatum was written(late 4th century) the first detachment of Decima Gemina was under the command
