One on the front and one on the back but there is beautiful scenic paintings all the way around the bottle. The lid is a bronze or brass metal. The glaze& paintings are in excellent condition ~ only a little roughness around the very bottom edge underneath. No chips. Cracks or repairs noted. The stopper is missing, as is often the case with an item this old. This bottle most likely dates the middle of the 1800's. The lid is very slightly pushed down as you might notice in one of the photos. The hinge works perfectly even though it looks a little curved. I do see that the hinge pin sticks out just a tad on one end. The lid does snap shut tightly. Be sure to shop bottles of similar style and age so you know just what a treasure this is! These painted Grand Tour bottles do not come up for sale often as they are much more scarce. The bottle is 4 inches tall and the base is 2 1/2 inches wide. Up for auction it a great black glass intaglio pendant depicting Hercules wrestling the Nemean Lion. Please read below the details of the myth. The Tassie style intaglio is set in marked(925) sterling silver bezel and includes the 20" sterling silver chain. The Pendant is about 1.25" tall excluding the loop and bail. The second photo is of a clay impression I made of the intaglio showing the amazing detail. The impression is not included in the sale. Happy bidding. The first of Hercules' twelve labours. Up for your consideration is this handsomely framed TEN(10) White Plaster Medallions. They vary in size. As follows: 1- 2" x 2" 1- 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" 2- 1-11/16" x 1-11/16" 4- 1-3/8" x 1-3/8" and 2- 1-7/8" x 1-7/8" Since I've never had them out of the frame, I am going to guess that the thickness is from 1/2" to 3/4" thick. The over all dimensions of the frame is 19-11/16" long x 6-3/4" wide and 1" thick. Most of them are thicker on one side that the other. Almost arched. A Grand Tour souvenir. A rare collection of four plaster friezes. Early 19th century, after John Henning(1771-1851) of the reliefs from the Cellia of the Parthenon and the Phygalian Marbles. Plaques are signed and dated 1819/20 as shown. Frames measure 13 3/4 inches by 6 1/2 inches; plaques measure 9 1/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches. Wood frames, velvet and giltwood decorative liner. Plaster intaglios in excellent condition with incredible crisp detail and clean condition. Frame backings are loose and should be re-backed. Wear and tear to frames and velvet as shown. A pair of wax medallions in glass roundels Red wax with impressions on both sides! Maria Teressa of Austria is written on the larger 5 inch diameter seal. And Guy Count of Flanders is written on the other dated 1776. Good shape. There are small cracks in the wax- though both are thick and stable. These most likely would be attached to documents. The larger at 5 inches are impressive in scale. Interesting.
