The diviners belt is also known as the King's Belt with each beaded color signifying a different god. The fact that this piece is almost entirely beaded suggests it is of the most important quality! RARE Pair Mid-Century Modern Spanish Art Glass Porrons(Wine Vessels) Decanters. RARE Pair of Mid-Century Spanish Art Glass Porrons(Wine Vessels) Date: Circa 1950s Origin: Spain Description: This unusual pair of handcrafted blown Spanish porrons by Vidriera Catalana is not identical. One is slightly smaller. And one has a spout on the neck. Both are made of the same green glass with pontils on the bases. The glass is in the pulegoso technique(utilizing innumerable small bubble inclusions) and appears very similar to the green pulegoso glass made by Napoleone Martinuzzi for Venini& C in the 1920s. The combination of materials and technique truly give these pieces the appearance of candy- very beautiful and striking. A porron is a traditional Catalonian vessel to pour wine. It can be used to pour directly into one's mouth or as a pitcher ... moreor decanter. These would be a great addition to any wine lover's collection or to a collection of mid-century modern art glass. Their sculptural quality would make these great display pieces or fantastic as tabletop decanters for serving. These are GUARANTEED ORIGINAL mid-20th century art glass and NOT REPRODUCTIONS. Markings: One retains the label of Vidriera Catalana. The other has a"Made in Spain" label. Likely, these were made by Jose Isart's Vidriera Catalana. As a side note, in addition to his use of pulegoso, Isart's designs were also very similar to those of Martinuzzi. If the potential buyer is interested, I can email some catalogue pages from Jose Isart's Vidriera Catalana. The pages that I have do not illustrate these particular vessels but would give you a background on the glassworks. I have not seen porrons from this art glass maker in my research. I bought these two vessels at an estate auction of a couple who had lived many years in the Middle East. He was a Gulf Oil executive who died in 1978 and she is still alive at 101 living in Durham. NC. They collected artifacts from all over Africa, Asia and the Middle East. They lived in London. Kuwait and Tehran, as well as New York and Pittsburgh. Please note that the two finials are not an exact match. The tallest vessel is 20.5" and the other is 16" They have a Middle Eastern look, so I am presuming they are from that area of the world, but I can't guarantee that. Here's a set of four absolutely beautiful handcrafted cups with spoons made by Master Craftsman Michael Ende. The goblet shaped vessels and spoons are hand blown glass with ornate sterling silver overlaid. The metal work is a very intricate with flowers and foliage. Michael Ende is a well-known Judaica artist/master craftsman. Each glass vessel is approximately 5.5" tall. These pieces are truly works of art.
