A Truly INCREDIBLE Ring This ring was found in the Danube Valley and is not Roman. Because this ring is between 2,800 and 3,000 years old! This ring was old before the first hut was raised on one of Rome's fabled seven hills! This ring has a shamanic element to it. The bezel features an excellent representation of a stylized"RAVEN" or"HAWK" on a tear-shaped bezel that measures 13mm x 15mm and this is a design we do ... morenot often see on these"tear" shaped rings. Look closely at the design and you will see that it is a stunning abstractly designed bird figure. All parts of the bird are nicely represented. Including the beak, wing, tail feathers and especially the talons which seem poised to grasp something. The Ancient Celts used to use this decoration on many articles that they used in every day life and felt they needed divine assistance with. They put it on everything from the containers that they used to make alcoholic beverages to the items that they used to weave their cloth. The band is also interesting as you will note in the fourth picture. The WHOLE band is completely covered in a zig-zag pattern made using the punch-dot method. The condition of this ring is STUNNING. LOOK.at my pictures and you will see the nice color and shine because of the super alloy it was cast from. There is a definite reddish cast to the ring because it has a very high copper content. This GEM should mellow into that deep PLUM color that is so highly valued. This is an EXCITING find and one that will be sure to please. This ring was found at a site in Ancient Thrace where the Celtic tribes held sway until they were subdued by the Romans. This ring dates from between 300BC and 100AD. This fine ring features a large 21mm x 12mm eye-shaped bezel which is over a full 6.5mm thick! This bezel also has a bold and thick lip ... morerunning around the whole bezel. This ring is VERY heavy and weighs over Sixteen Grams The bezel has a"TRISKELE" Celtic Swirl patterns that developed from Greek"key work" patterns and is the most widely recognized symbol of Celtic Spiritual Power. The bezel has a deep outline and the areas to the sides of the Triskele are filled with a linear decoration. I have never come across a more well executed example as this one. I have gotten at least a hundred emails from folks inquiring if I could get them one of these treasured designs. This is exactly the NINTH example that I have EVER had the pleasure to see up close. I don't have a finger that this could fit on for everyday wear or I would not even consider putting it up for auction. SIMPLE ELEGANCE& SUPER EXAMPLE This ring was found at a site in the Danube Valley and dates from around 600 B.C. This ring was cast from"high copper" alloy which gives it a buttery feel in the hand and lets the ring take an exquisite shine and lends it it's MAGNIFICENT color. My pictures just cannot do justice to the alloy this ring was cast from. It has a true. Golden color. I really like this color because ... moreit is the same color of the very first ring that I ever restored. It is a true, dusky, gold color. The 18mm X 10mm bezel has an"eye" shape to it and sits above a band of the half-round cross section variety. The band is still thick and solid for its great age. Look at the bezel design. There are many deeply engraved lines to make one of those"geometric" designs that the Celts were known for. This example has that"bar" with the zig-zag or"wrapping" in it that we see on a lot of these rings. In one way it looks an awful lot like a Celtic"Four Winds" design and probably had some type of magical meaning ascribed to it. There are also some fine. Diagonal linear decorations on both shoulders of the ring. This ring is thick and solid and will make a very nice every day ring. The fact that this ring comes in a more rare. Large, wearable size 13 is a rare treat indeed. These early geometric patterns always had some type of magical Druid meaning to them. Perfectly Preserved! This ring was found at a site in Ancient Thrace where the Celtic tribes held sway until they were subdued by the Romans. This ring dates from between 300BC and 100AD. This fine ring features a 22mm X 11mm lozenge shaped bezel which is quite thick. What is real nice about this ring in todays world is that the band is well rounded and about as wide as the bezel at the shoulders and then tapers around at the back of the ... morering. This makes the ring almost"band like" and unobtrusive for someone who does not want a bezel that sits up high and could snag on things. This ring is VERY sleek The bezel has the 2 opposing swirls engraved upon it as well as some more accent lines and a nice outlining design. These are all well done and I noticed something about this design. If you look at it one way. You see the two classic swirls but if you look at it another way, the engraved lines are really the frame for a nice"S" curved swirl that doubles back on itself over the surface of the ring. These swirl designs were quite popular among the Ancient Celts and figured heavily in a lot of their decorative work. If you look closely. You will see that the basic design looks like the Greek"wave" keywork borders that we see on a lot of ancient pottery and in mosaics. The Celts were heavily influenced by the Greeks and adopted a lot of their stylistic motifs into their own craftwork. Another detail that I have seen on other Celtic rings but not on this particular style is the series of indents or lobes all the way around the bezel edge. There is also a super shoulder and edge decorations.

This GEM of a ring features a 20mm X 9mm eye shaped bezel. A little new research has led me to new insights on these types of designs done by early Celtic peoples who were known as Thracians and ... moreDacians by the Romans and the Greeks. There are two of the typical swirls inside of a nice outlining decoration with an eight pointed star in the center. The design is of an eight-pointed"Star" which resembles the lotus flower which was highly revered by many Eastern cultures. The number eight is very strongly symbolized on this ring. This 8-Pointed Star design is almost always seen in connection with the Goddess Inanna"The Venus of the East" The goddess Inanna(Innin. Or Innini) was the patron and special god/goddess of the ancient Sumerian city of Erech(Uruk) the City of Gilgamesh. As Queen of heaven, she was associated with the Evening Star(the planet Venus) and sometimes with the Moon. She may also have been associated the brightest stars in the heavens, as she is always symbolized by an eight-pointed star. This symbol was also used by ancient astronomers to denote the brightest stars in the night sky so it is an easy connection to make. The cult of Inanna spread to many cultures and was probably carried west as far as Egypt by the women camp followers of Alexander the Great. The name Taranis derives from the Indo-European root'taran' ... moremeaning thunderer or thunder. He has been depicted as a wise. Patriarchal being holding a lightening bolt and a solar wheel. OUTSTANDING WORKMANSHIP! This ring comes from the Danube Valley where the Celtic"Barbarians" held sway for centuries before being dominated by the might of Imperial Rome and this example dates from between 400- 200 B.C. This ring is in very good condition for a ring of this type and extreme age. Many of you will recognize the classic"Celtic Tribal Eye" design of this ring. I have offered ... morequite a few but seldom one as nice as this ring. The 17mm X 10mm eye-shaped bezel sits proudly up over the band which makes for a more impressive looking ring. The band is round and solid and of the half-round cross section variety. The best feature though. Is the face of the bezel with it's super engravings The center engraving is of multiple lines which form a well balanced geometric"KNOTWORK" pattern. The design looks to be three WAVES cutting across the bezel face. It doesn't matter which way faces up but you still get that feeling of"waves" in motion. As you can see from my pictures. The engravings are extremely well done. There are also many linear decorations on both shoulders of the ring as well as a few framing the pontle on the back of the band. These Knotwork and Basketweave patterns were used extensively by Celtic Tribes and they were strongly influenced by their neighbors. The Greeks and had no problem"borrowing" decoration styles. STUNNING! This ring comes from a batch of Celtic artifacts that were found near a burial site in the Danube Valley and dates from 600- 400 B.C. This fabulous ring is of the"Pagan Tear" variety. The bezel measures 10mm X 11mm. Look at the bezel engraving.TERRIFIC! The well done image is of a"SUN" symbol which stood for the"Sun God" of the Celtic peoples of Eastern Europe who was known ... moreas. Bel(Belenus or Belenos) Gaul) God of healing and light, and referred to as"The Shining One" He is in charge of the welfare of sheep and cattle. His wife is the goddess Belisama. They can be compared with Apollo and Minerva. It is from this God that we get the name for the Celtic Fire Festival Beltaine from. The bezel design is nice with its central circle with the central dot. This ring is solid and sound with a GORGEOUS. Gold color to it due to the high copper content of the alloy. In addition to the SUPER bezel decoration. There are decorations that completely encircle the edge of the bezel and there are nice"leather wrapping" decorations made of more rows of double dots. The band of this ring is EXTREMELY solid along its whole length. It is great to see such a nice design motif on such a well preserved ancient artifact. These designs always had some type of magical purpose ascribed to them when they were made and I am sure that this ring is no exception. This is a SUPER ring! This ring was found at the site of a Roman Military encampment but is of Celtic-Thracian origin and dates from around 100 B.C. The highlight is the engraved swirling design of the"Four Winds" symbol. The Celts as well as most other indigenous peoples of the area had a very strong connection with all things natural. Fair weather was a blessing for all and the Ancient Celts would try any method they ... morebelieved would work to try and curry favor with the gods. They were extremely fond of votive rings and amulets. They did double duty. They showed the gods that they really cared and that they looked nice when worn was an added benefit. This design is also great because of the type of ring that is made upon. Most of you will recognize this as a"Battle" ring because of the projecting bezel. This one is a bit different because the bezel is almost a perfect square that measures about 12mm to a side and is about 5mm thick with linear lip decorations. This is only the third or fourth time that I have seen one of these"Four Wind" designs made on one of these rings. Even the"Four Winds" symbol is different than most and almost looks like a four armed tetraskele or swirl. The"high copper" alloy that the ring was cast from. Accounts for the super color and fantastic shine of this ring. There are also great details on the shoulders of this ring. There are tabbed and stepped shoulder escutcheons on each shoulder. One Ring To Rule Them All! That is what this ring is. A true Ring of Power. One look tells you all. This ring was found at a site in Ancient Thrace where the Celtic tribes held sway until they were subdued by the Romans. This ring dates from between 300BC and 100AD. These types of rings were often given by a tribes chief to a deserving warrior who could use it as a badge of office and show that he spoke for his chief ... morein important matters. This fine ring features a HUGE 18mm X 16mm bezel. The bezel has one of those"Geometric" Celtic Swirl patterns that developed from Greek"key work" patterns. The design looks like a 6-armed Swastika. There are nice indented lobes around the rim of this bezel which gives it an almost organic look and which mimic the placement of the six crooked arms. There is also what looks to be a"SUN DISK" or"SOLAR WHEEL" in the center of the design. I have never come across a more well executed example as this one. These designs were quite popular among the Ancient Celts and figured heavily in a lot of their decorative work. The engravings are still very deep and bold and make for a handsome design. There are all of the usual fine decorations over the rest of the ring which you'd expect to see. There are alternating bands of deeply incised lines in sets both above and below a deeply molded"ridge" on each shoulder which lends a dramatic element of style to this design. LOOK.at how wide the band of this ring is! This band is just about 6mm wide around the whole length of the band and as wide as 5.5mm at the very back

This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia but was made by one of the Celtic Hilltribes and most likely came from Thrace and dates to between 200BC- 200AD This ring features a large. 18mm x 11mm eye-shaped bezel which is slightly raised and is quite thick! The design engraved on the bezel is a"Flying Swastika" There are Four of the crooked arms to this Swastika. These 4-armed varieties are also related to ... morethe Celtic Triskel. The arms are spinning in a clockwise direction. The design looks a lot like a toy pin-wheel. There are small"motion" lines on the outside of each leg which gives it the illusion of spinning. This overlays a nice outlined"netting" or"web" background. These designs go back in time into pre-history and had a magical significance which would change based on whether the Swastika was moving clockwise or counter-clockwise. The band is also wide and thick. The whole ring has a definite"heft" to it as well as a remarkable reddish-golden color with exquisite shine. A Truly INCREDIBLE Ring This ring was found in the Danube Valley and is not Roman. Because this ring is between 2,800 and 3,000 years old! This ring was old before the first hut was raised on one of Rome's fabled seven hills! This ring has a shamanic element to it. The bezel features an excellent representation of a stylized animal with the Ancient Celtic representation of a man superimposed over it. Look closely at the ... morecenter of the bezel and the man shape is still visible. Mainly with the dots that represented the head and the line of dots down the center that made up the Shaman's body. The eight heavy lines are supposed to represent the limbs and the beak of the"Hawk"or"Wolf" that the Shaman would turn into and the line of dots inside of them are the arms of the Shaman in his man-form. I have seen these figures before with the men superimposed over bird, wolf and deer figures. The Ancient Celts used to use this decoration on many articles that they used in every day life and felt they needed divine assistance with. They put it on everything from the containers that they used to make alcoholic beverages to the items that they used to weave their cloth. As a matter of fact. I own a bone weaving awl from the same period that has the same figure on it. They would make a series of dots or circles in a somewhat, stick figure shape. The head is ALWAYS made up of dots or circles arranged in a diamond pattern. Look at this Ancient Beauty that was found near a Celtic settlement site in the Danube Valley and dating from about 300 B.C. during the LaTene Period This is a hefty version of a Celtic Chief's Ring that was given to a trusted tribesman who would carry this ring as a token of his ability to speak for his chief in important matters. This ring features a 6mm thick. ... more12mm X 11mm squarish shaped bezel which has a crisp engraving done in a style that was popular for many centuries before the Roman conquest of the Celtic lands. LOOK.at my pictures and you will see how well crafted and solid this bezel is. When I started cleaning this ring and saw the bezel design I was amazed because I had expected to see one of the typical"Lightning Bolts" or"Tetraskele" designs that are common to these big beefy rings. The center of the design has a symbol that a lot of people think is some type of VIKING RUNES. Even though it does resemble some of the Ancient Runes. I believe that it is some other sort of Magical Symbol or Script and the fact that they look like Runes is a coincidence unless they could be a type of Pre-Hun runes. I have only seen this design once before and it must be of a kind that was used for a specific magical purpose. Although I cannot be sure of exactly what it was used for it does also resemble the symbol that the later Vikings would name the"Helm of Awe" which Viking warriors would draw onto their forehead with ashes before going into battle. Perfectly Preserved! This ring was found at a site in Ancient Thrace where the Celtic tribes held sway until they were subdued by the Romans. This ring dates from between 300BC and 100AD. This fine ring features a 14mm X 9mm lozenge shaped bezel which is quite thick. The bezel has the 2 opposing swirls engraved upon it as well as some more accent lines and a nice outlining design. These are all well done and I noticed something about ... morethis design. If you look at it one way. You see the two classic swirls but if you look at it another way, the engraved lines are really the frame for a nice"S" curved swirl that doubles back on itself over the surface of the ring. These swirl designs were quite popular among the Ancient Celts and figured heavily in a lot of their decorative work. If you look closely. You will see that the basic design looks like the Greek"wave" keywork borders that we see on a lot of ancient pottery and in mosaics. The Celts were heavily influenced by the Greeks and adopted a lot of their stylistic motifs into their own craftwork. There is also a super shoulder and edge decorations. Each shoulder has a set of thick ridges which wrap around onto either the top or bottom edge of the bezel. Right below the ridges are more double-lined zigzags This ring is in extremely fine condition for being of such a great age and the shine and finish of the ring are first rate. Feel The Power! This ring was found at a Roman encampment but is 500 to 600 years older than the other artifacts found with it and dates from around 400- 300 BC. This ring is a"Battle" ring.The projecting table of the raised bezel was designed to act as a weapon of last resort. The conical. Table bezel, which measures 9mm X 11mm, as well as the wide shoulders could be quite formidable in a close quarters ... morebattle. There is a nice design on this rings bezel. The bezel has a very deep design incised into it. This is one of those designs that some people think are some type of anthropomorphic"Warrior's Face" I am not so sure if this is the actual case or if the design is almost a type of pictogram that stands for a person or a place name. Either way. This is the best preserved example of this type that I have EVER come across The band is EXTREMELY thick and strong and look at the picture above where you'll see the added touch of a sloping flange under the table of the bezel which adds a decorative element to the ring but also strengthened the design for use in a fight. The ring also has that classic"urn" shape to it which makes it a bit of a guess to tell the size but fits VERY comfortably on your finger. Below is a picture which shows you how mirror-like the finish of the bezel is but I wish I could take a picture that TRULY captures the design of this beauty.
