These are two bronze Buddhas from Ankhor Wat in Cambodian style. It was quite common for small Buddhas to be buried in the temple itself or near the foundations. Many years later they have been subsequently dug up and many will be offered in a corroded state.This particular bronze has a green patination though its impossible to guess their age. Each statue breaks down into six parts. Each is 10 cms high and 6cms wide I am downsizing my collection of Buddhas. Which I have obtained from around the world over many years, when export of antiquarian items was still freely allowed.Unfortunately this is no longer easily possible. Here we have a pair of fabulous 19th Century French bronze figures. Both figures are of a partial nude motif. They are large and very heavy. Each figure stands aprox 14 inches tall. One figure has a weight of over 11 pounds and the other just under 11 pounds. There is a copy of an appraisal that comes with these figures. The appraisal was from 1972 and can be viewed in last picture. Back then they were appraised for $350. 42 years ago. For being about 140 years old they are in good antique condition. They were gilded at some point but most of that is worn. The finish shows a lot of wear, but I feel that just adds to these gorgeous ladies. True antique bronzes you dont see every day. Thank you.

Minature Bronze cold painted Austrian figures 3 cats playing musical instruments
I purchased these at a tag sale several years ago. I do not know anything about them except from other pieces similar that I have seen sell on Ebay. No reserve auction. Only about 1" tall. They are in very good shape with a little paint loss. There is good detail to include the metal whiskers.

The art of bronze casting was introduced around the year 1280. The kingdom reached its maximum size and artistic splendor in the 15th and 16th century. Following the bloody British punitive expedition to Nigeria ... morein 1897, about three thousand brass, horn and wooden objects were consigned to the Western world. The numerous brass heads and figures cast by Benin metalworkers were created for the royal palace, where a new oba would dedicate an altar to his predecessor. The majority of everyday Benin objects were made for and associated with court ceremonies. During the British punitive expedition, more than 1,000 brass plaques were appropriated from the oba’s palace. Dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. These plaques were secreted in a storage room. It is thought that they were nailed to palace walls and pillars as a form of decoration or as references to protocol. They show the oba in full regalia along with his nobility, warriors and Portuguese traders. The most elaborate ones display a procession of up to nine people, while others depict only fish or birds. Despite the disappearance of the Benin kingdom, the Yoruba people living on its territory continued to produce artwork inspired by the great royal art of Benin. On offer here are four antique Chinese bronzes. The bronzes depict four small chinese children playing on the backs ofvarious animals. The Tallest figure. The horse is 11 cm, the widest, the water buffalo is 12 cm wide, the third figure is a goat 12cm wide and the fourth is a child sitting on a rock with a snake looking up at the child 9cm tall. I do not know the cultural meaning of the figures! If any one knows who they are and what they represent I would love to know. All four statues are perfect. No damage or restoration. They are cast in good detail and have a good even colour and patination. They have good age and my feeling is they are 19th century. Though they may be much older?

Victorian Relief Cast Gilt Bronze Brass Box Old Testament Figures
This is an old and very beautiful heavy cast relief box with religious figures. The ornamentation is very well done and the arches suggest a Gothic Revival influence. There are Tudor rose and fleur de lis details as well as robed religious(old Testament) figure.There is a lock but no key. The interior is lined with blue velvet although there is no lining to the inside of the lid. The piece is in very good condition for its age. No markings were found. Weight is about 3 pounds and measures 6 inches by 3 and 1/4 by 3 inches tall. Please email with any questions.

The Figures are also intricately inlaid with abalone shell, and turquoise eyes. The Figures have a rich dark patina throughout. The Figures appear to have been mounted to the base at some point in time and a few of the inlaid stones are missing, but the figures are overall in nice original condition. The Figures display nicely measuring 3 7/8 inches long, by 2 1/4 inches wide, and
ANTIQUE BRONZE 18" LAMP BASE MYTHOLOGICAL FIGURES SIGNED TIFFANY STUDIOS ON BASE
For Purchase is this really unusual signed Tiffany lamp base. The base is correctly stamped Tiffany Studios and the complete lamp base is solid Bronze and is quite Heavy having wonderful crisp detail to the Mythological Beasts around its perimeter. Within the center of the 3 Creatures one finds the fancy architectural bronze Victorian brackets holding them all together. Additionally its pawed feet leading up to the seated Winged Creatures are also all brilliantly cast. Truly a most unusual looking Base and most probably a later Tiffany Studios production piece. The Base appears in Fine condition save for a missing round bronze foot(pictured) which can easily be recast and patinered to match the other 5 feet and placed back on the base. The Lamps holder above takes a 10" shade which I imagine could be a globe shade or leaded shade or ... morewhatever works. I think a Loetz or Austrian Glass shade would also look wonderful on this base and although a marriage it would still be capable of fetching considerable monies. The diameter is approx 10" and the height is approx 18" Not much more has to be said other then to take your time viewing the pictures. I have never seen a like base by the master and can only summize that it is a most rare Tiffany base. Please ask any questions you might have. This is really quite the good looking base. I wish I had a proper shade to display. I feel the look would be just stupendous. Japanese patinated bronze planter decorated with elephant figures. The planter bowl supported by 4 elephant figures. Additional 11 elephant figures cast in high relief as continuos strip around the bowl. Very fine detail an execution. Marked with archaic character seal mark on the bottom. Meiji period, circa 1880-90's. The planter is 17" in diameter and 11 1/2" tall, weighs solid 33 lbs. Similar planter in 12 3/4" diameter size was sold at Christie's sale 5919(London) Lot 35, brought $3699. The only condition issue on the outside one broken task. Shown in the next to the last image. Bronze Tsuba Sword Handle. The piece is decorated to both sides with scenes depicting oriental figures or soldiers.
