10 Antique Islamic Small Dark Blue Glass beads #Is B12
Very Old TEN Islamic Small Dark Blue. Indigo Glass Beads Beautiful Melon shape! Was found in Uzbekistan. Very interesting beads. It is hard to say exact age- it is about 100-250 years old 8-8.5 mm x 6- 6.5 mm There are no repairs. This glass bead shows a beautiful original patina and wear. Expected corrosion and wear are a consequence of age and extended burial. Very GOOD condition for this age. PLEASE ADD ME TO YOUR FAVORITES LIST* ATTENTION! Most photographs have been enlarged to show details. So items may appear larger than their actual size. Colors appearing on the viewers computer may appear different in comparison to the original object. Hi! My name is Elena. I’m collecting ancient beads from 1979. Most of my beads were found in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. To be precise they were found between Mary city(Turkmenistan) and Samarkand(Uzbekistan) ... moreThat area in past was called Bactria. Nowadays there are a lot of ruins older than 2000 years in this region. I like ancient beads very much and want that other collectors will be able to obtain them without paying a lot of money. That is why my prices are very modest. I lived in Asgabat city(the capital of Turkmenistan) over 30 years. About 15 km from Asgabat there is Nisa– former residence of Alexander the Great. And capital of Parthia. In most cases the ancient beads. Not only played the role of jewelry but also the status of the person wearing them. You were able to tell the social status of an individual based on the beads they were wearing, while other used these beads as talismans protecting themselves against bad luck and the evil eye. Certain beads that have zigzagging lines are supposed to confuse the evil eye which would get lost in these lines. Beads that have the image of an eye try to just absorb the evil energy, and thus protect the person who is wearing them. Periodically the beads would be washed in salt water, because it is believe the salt water kills the negative energy. The image of the eye was sometimes very abstract and was more
18thC Byzantine Silver Ring Sapphire Blue Glass "Gemstone" Genuine Zircon Sz 7+
Large Beautiful Size 7 1/2 Late Byzantine Era Silver Alloy Ring with a Sapphire Blue Colored Center Stone and a Natural White Zircon Accent. CLASSIFICATION: Silver/Bronze Alloy Ring with Oval Dark Blue Colored Glass"Gemstone" and a Natural White Zircon Accent Stone. ATTRIBUTION: Constantinople(Ottoman Turkey) 17-18th Century A.D. SIZE/DIMENSIONS(all measurements approximate) Size: 7 1/2(U.S. Inner Diameter: 18mm. Overall Diameter: 27mm* 21mm. Bezel/Gemstone: Length: 16mm. Height: 12mm. Thickness: 6 1/2mm. Fixed Width 6 1/2mm Band. Weight: 8.48 grams. CONDITION: Excellent! Intact. Integrity unimpaired. Very light wear from usage. No significant porosity(surface pitting caused by contact with earth while buried) Very fine finish. DETAIL: A very intricate silver/bronze alloy ring of late Byzantine origin. Probably seventeenth or eighteenth ... morecentury, provenance is Eastern Europe. The ring bears a very elaborate stamped pattern on the sides of the band wrapping all the way around to the band. A similarly elaborate pattern embellishes the entire circumference of the bezel. It is quite substantial, and the design of the ring and the detailed metal work evidenced in the bezel and bands is very elaborate! There is very light wear to the ring itself. The band shows a modest amount of wear at the back where the ring would have come in contact with various surfaces such as a table, etc. during the wearers daily activities. The entirety of the stamped metal pattern is intact, it is just worn a bit flat at the back of the band. Likewise there is a little wear to the sides of the band. And to one of the two longer sides of the bezel skirt. That would likely be the side away from the wearer when the ring was worn, and so again would be likely to contact other objects during the wearers work day. Again, the entire pattern wrapping around the bezel skirt is intact, but one of the two longer sides does show a modest amount of wear. Likewise the"gemstone" shows some scuffing and light surface scratching as well. H

Ancient Roman Bronze Ring with Light Blue Glass Stone 300-400 AD
About The Roman Jewelry Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the ... moresilk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. About the Roman Rings Romans liked to wear big rings which drew attention and revealed the status of the wearer. A gold ring often contained a huge gemstone or Roman glass which was generally worn by the Senators and the bureaucrats. The common people referred as the Plebeians were allowed to wear only rings made of iron. However. Some Plebeians were awarded the right to wear the golden rings for their bravery or special service to the state. But gradually such stringent rules were relaxed during the reign of Justinian I. Women of ancient Rome were more inclined to wear multiple rings of varied materials and designs on their hands without the constraints of social classes. About This Ring This extremely solid and elegant ancient Roman ring is smooth all over. Is made of solid bronze and covered in a dark, natural patina. Its band is thick and kept plain in style as it expands greatly into the form of its round, cup-type bezel. Sitting ever so pretty within is a beautiful round g

In ancient times, a ring distinguished an individual in a way that other forms of jewelry did not. Finger rings represented the language of social code, and connoted one’s social standing. Under the Empire, the finger ring was still considered a privilege, conferred for military distinction. As time wore on and attitudes changed, the ring was more freely bestowed. ... moreEven so, the ring retained its position as a mark of dignity, as a rich ornament, as an important seal, and as a token of betrothal. Special caskets were created for holding rings, and it was customary to remove a ring from the casket, to place on the finger of a visiting guest welcomed into one's home. Ancient Roman Bronze Large Ring Punch Dots and Blue Glass Inlay Rare 300-400 AD
Ancient Roman Bronze Ring with Punch Dots and Blue Glass Inlay– Very Large& Rare 300-400 AD Apart from gold and other precious metals. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus ... moreValley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the silk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. This incredibly rare and magnificent ancient Roman bronze ring is of a very large size and is very weighty. Its band is very broad and thick. And bears an impeccable symmetrical form. Is bezel is of a very large teardrop shape; bearing a deep cup-type bezel with four strong clasps holding securely within it, the most eye-catching, dark blue glass inlay. Framing the bezel is a series of deep punch dot motifs. A dark, natural patina is retained all over the ring with light earthen encrustations in many areas. The Romans used glass extensively to imitate precious stones such as emerald. Sardonyx, and amethyst, since glass was much easier to carve. This dark shade of blue glass would have been use to represent the likes of a precious sapphire gemstone. In ancient Greece and Rom, Sapphires were used in devoted to the Deity, Zeus(respectively Jupiter) Jupiter is usually thought to have originated as a sky god. To the ancient Romans, sapphire of heavenly blue signified the height of celestial hope and faith, and was believed to bring

This large and magnificent ancient Roman silver alloy ring bears a broad and smooth hoop which expands and opens up into two parts at its shoulders. And is soldered firm to the back of its bezel(this craftsmanship can be viewed very well on the inside, at the back of the bezel) As additional reinforcement, the ancient craftsman has added a flat piece of linear etched silver alloy strip attaching the side of the bezel to the shoulders of the hoop. Its deep, square shaped shield-type bezel forms a secure frame for its rich, royal blue glass inlay. The Romans greatly favoured the use of stone and glass in their jewellery. And expanded the Hellenistic tradition by focusing on the visual effects multi-coloured bits of stone and glass could achieve in their own right. The Romans used glass extensively to imitate precious stones such as emerald, sardonyx, and amethyst, since glass was much easier to carve. Here, this deep red inlay was made to represent the likes of a precious ruby or garnet gemstone. A layer of white patina is retained on its surface. Anc

This excellent antique find is fresh from the estate of a discerning local antiquities collector. It dates to the 1st-3rd Century A.D. era and comes from a non-smoking household. Like all our auctions, this superb piece is being offered here with a low opening bid and no reserve price. This bottle is gracefully formed from translucent blue glass with an encrusted base and a rich. Rainbow-colored iridescence when held to light. It is in very good condition for a bottle of such great age, with the only flaws being-besides the generous encustation- a bit of gentle light wear, and a couple of tiny(1 mm) barely visible chips to the rim. Collectors! Welcome to JMgoldbuyers. Our extra eBay account. Rest assured that you're dealing with an experienced seller with over 3500+ positive feedbacks as our other eBay accounts Vassargirl1 and Buydonuts. Please check our other listings throughout the coming few weeks for several more antique buttons. Buckles, and related items, as well as MANY other excellent antique finds from several outstanding local estates: vintage textiles, Asian art, fine porcelains, and more. Also. Please be aware that eBay's"Automatic Postage Generator" has often been showing absurdly high postage costs recently- far higher than the true shipping cost actually should be. We've been quite busy lately revising several alarmed customers' invoices to the real(far lower) shipping price. So please mostly ignore what the the eBay"Estimated Shipping" says. You can find a more accurate estimate at www.usps.com(our postal code is 14216) If the actual postage ends up costing us less than you h
Antique?Ancient? OLD Glass Blue Beads Roman? Necklace Agate & Hand Made Beads
Up for auction is a really old bead necklace broken for repair. Or for the bead collector. These beads are a turquoise blue-kinda frosty-or cloudy with lines in them- agate. They are really neat, and there is some hand made paper type tube beads that were with them. I don't much at all about old beads, so don't know exact age, just know they must be antique or maybe ancient? I have another auction with tribal type beaded body wear that are worth a look to collectors. If you know anything about these, please email me and let me know. I did see some beads similar to these on ebay that were described as Roman Agate, but they were more decorative on outside of the bead. Thanks for looking- I do combine shipping costs.

This large and handsome ancient Roman silver alloy ring has a slim. Symmetrical and smooth hoop, which opens up into two parts at its shoulders, and soldered firm to the back of its bezel. As additional reinforcement, the ancient craftsman has added a flat piece of silver alloy strip attaching the side of the bezel to that of the shoulders of the hoop. Its square shaped, shield-type bezel is turned in slightly at the uppermost tip, forming a secure frame for its rich, deep royal blue glass inlay. This ring is in perfectly preserved condition and is just as bold and eye-catching an adornment when worn today, as it was then. In this case this rich blue glass inlay was made to most likely repres

I am about to type what he had written in his paper work( Ancient Roman/ Egyptian blue glass jar 3rd century AD found in the eastern part of the Med sea 1876) we know he must have purchased it much later probably in his travels in the 20s when he travelled alone and collected a vast amount of all sorts, the jar has a round body 3 handles attached to the shoulder and trailed onto the rim with an indented base, its handles have an Roman look, inside the jar is a crusty with a multitude of coloured sand its size is approx. 4" high by 4" wide, this could be a real steal of a price but we would like it to go to a collector so please make an offer.
