Perfect for a Floral or Foliage Display! CLASSIFICATION: Blue and White Porcelain Vase/Jar. ATTRIBUTION: Ancient China. Qing Dynasty, 19th Century. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 218 millimeters(8 3/4 inches) Diameter: 215 millimeters(8 2/3 inches) at belly; 86 millimeters(3 1/2 inches) at top lip; 165 millimeters(5 2/3 inches) at base. CONDITION: Exceptionally good. Almost perfectly preserved. A little wear consistent with any household item which is over one hundred(perhaps close to two hundred) years in age. The normal blemishes common to hand produced porcelain(warts and dimples, zits and pits) Not flawless, but certainly in an excellent state of preservation– no chips of any significance(even minor) no cracks or crazing. No repairs, entirely original. DETAIL: A splendidly preserved very large traditional blue and white porcelain vase so wonderfully characteristic of late Ming/early Qing Dynasty artwork. The glaze is entirely intact. Vibrant cobalt blue, and the condition of the vase is almost perfect. There are of course a few minor scuffs, marks, dings, etc. all virtually undetectable. This is as good as one can reasonably expect of a vase somewhere between one hundred and two hundred years old. While the vase might not be absolutely perfect, it is about as close to perfect as you will ordinarily find of an authentic porcelain jar like this, and there are no repairs. Of course realistically one would expect some blemishes over a century after it was originally produced, so there are no surprises here except that there are so few blemishes. There are as well a few production blemishes(warts. Dimples, zits and pits) Again really not noticeable, and quite typical of hand-crafted porcelain of the late Ming/early Qing Dynasties. Overall it is an except

2 Roman Celtic Sunshine 19thC Antique Scotland Citrine Sterling Earrings
Two Antique 19th Century Genuine Natural Golden Honey Yellow Faceted Two Carat Citrine Pears. Includes High Quality Contemporary Sterling Silver Earrings. ORIGIN: Coastal Devonian Lava Beds. Angus, Scotland. 19th Century. Mounted into contemporary high quality sterling silver studs. SIZE: Length: 9mm. Width: 6mm. Depth(Thickness) 4mm. All measurements approximate. WEIGHT: 1.95 carats(the pair) NOTES: Other setting styles(euro clicks. Lever backs, kidney wires, ball/stud dangles) are available upon request, both in sterling silver, as well as 14kt solid gold and in 14kt gold fill. DETAIL: The Romans. Greeks and Celts believed citrine to be the crystallized essence of sunshine, and believed it would aid in digestion and cleanse toxins from the body, and it was even carried as protection against snake venom. Here are two very nice, very clean, ... more19th century honey yellow citrine faceted Pears from the Devonian lava beds found along the coast of Angus Country, Scotland. Very popular in 18th and 19th century Victorian Scotland, citrine has remained a very popular gemstone through the 20th century. These are very fine golden honey yellow colored semi-precious gemstones. As you can see from the photo enlargements here, they are to the eye completely transparent and free from inclusions, and possess exceptional sparkle and luster. They are very clean, water clear, and very bright. The trained eye will easily discern from the photo that the gemstones have been hand-faceted. The coarseness of the 19th century faceting is considered appealing to most gemstone collectors, and is not considered a detriment. Unlike today's computer controlled machine processes, the cut and finish of a gemstone such as this is the legacy of an artisan who lived two centuries ago. Such antique hand-faceted gemstones possess much greater character and appeal than today's mass-produced machine-faceted gemstones. These gemstones have great luster and sparkle. And to the eye are completely transparent, but they are not absolutely flawless. Tr

Antique 19thC ½ct Siberian Tourmaline Ancient Roman Gemstone
Exquisite Antique Genuine Natural Siberian One-Half Carat Neon Pink Tourmaline Faceted Marquise. CLASSIFICATION: Pink Tourmaline Faceted Marquise. ORIGIN: The Ural Mountains. Russia. 19th Century. SIZE: Length: 7mm. Width: 4mm. Depth: 3mm. All measurements approximate. WEIGHT: 0.52 carats. NOTES: Upon request we can set your gemstones as a ring. Pendant, or as earrings(click for more information) DETAIL: Tourmaline occurred in many of the ancient mines that yielded precious gemstones in the ancient Roman world 2.000 years ago, however it was mistaken for(and thus called) emerald or topaz. The name“tourmaline” came from the Celanese word"turmali, which means"mixed" Bright rainbow collections of gemstone varieties were called"turmali" parcels. Here's an exquisitely colored antique pink marquise cut faceted tourmaline ... morefrom the Southern Urals, hand faceted in the 19th century. Pink tourmalines are rather uncommon, probably the most valuable of the ordinary varieties of tourmaline. There is substantially more demand than supply, so thus oftentimes can be quite costly. The color of this specimen has been alternately described as hot pink, neon pink, bubble gum pink, even screaming pink. Let’s just say the color is very intense, and quite vibrant. Pink tourmaline was held in such high regard by the(last) Empress of China, Tz'u Hsi, that she purchased bought almost a ton of it from a mine in California, and was eventually laid to rest(eternally) on a carved tourmaline pillow. Much favored by European Renaissance and Victorian Royalty, tourmaline tends to be characterized by the presence of small colorless inclusions. This semi-precious gemstone does have several very minute inclusions which while not discernible to the eye. Can just be made out under a 5x glass. But while not absolutely flawless, it is nonetheless a quite satisfactory specimen, certainly eye clean, and with fantastic color. The trained eye will easily discern from the photo that the gemstone has been hand-faceted. The coa

DETAIL: A nicely styled Roman bronze ring of a simple“solitaire” design. With a raised, six-sided platform bezel, of a bold size and character, which originally held a gemstone. The ring was not actually recovered with the gemstone intact, however usually this style of bronze ring was set either with a glass gemstone(glass was quite costly) or with some form of quartz crystal; i.e. clear quartz, orange quartz(carnelian” or purple quartz(amethyst” The ring is of heavy and durable one-piece construction, much like a contemporary ring. The more archaic rings produced by Roman artisans were characteristically made in two pieces; an incomplete ring(a“shank” with a separately crafted bezel which was brazed to the shank in order to assemble the ring. It is quite likely that the ring was worn most of a lifetime. As it would take most of a life time to wear down the raised platform bezel to the extent evidenced. In fact the extent of the wear is significant enough that it suggests that the ring might have been worn during the lifetime of more than one owner. Perhaps it was a family heirloom handed down betwe

Antique 19th Century Genuine Natural Eighteen Carat Hand Crafted Indian Carnelian Semi-Precious Faceted Oval Gemstone. DETAIL: Along with turquoise and lapis lazuli. Red-orange carnelian was one of the most popular and valued gemstones of ... morethe ancient world. From Mesopotamia, through Persia and Greece, and into Rome carnelian was widely used to produce engraved gemstones and seals. Many of the intaglio carnelian rings and signets produced by ancient Roman and Greek craftsmen and still in existence today. Here's an absolutely colossal, nice quality 19th century antique hand crafted and faceted bright orange carnelian semi-precious oval gemstone from India. This is an exceptionally nice specimen, with bright mandarin orange tones- almost a pastel orange, though nonetheless quite vibrant in character. This colossal gemstone was hand shaped and faceted into this very beautiful oval by a 19th century Russian artisan. It is a nice quality carnelian gemstone by 19th century standards. The gemstone would be more or less transparent except for the fact that it is so thick. Given the thick cut, it is more toward translucent than transparent. By today's standards it is not an exceptionally high quality carnelian- though its size and age make it nonetheless extraordinary. But by 19th century standards, this was a very desirable and expensive gemstone. Carnelian gemstones and jewelry were extremely popular throughou

The gemstone was hand crafted and faceted by a 19th century Russian artisan, part of an heritage renown for the production of the elaborate gemstones and jewelry of the Czars of Medieval, Renaissance, and Victorian Russia.
