Glaze is remarkable, almost entirely intact! DETAIL: A splendid. Very large black/brown glazed earthenware bowl in the style of the Song or Jin Dynasty of Ancient China. This particular style was produced using a black glaze, high in iron oxides. In the kiln the iron would oftentimes come to the surface of the glaze, creating brown/rust-colored“oil spots” or streaky“hare’s fur” patterns on the otherwise black glaze. The style became extremely popular in ancient China, especially with Japanese Monks to whom the Chinese exported this unique and rare product. Tea bowls were the most common produce of this technique. This particular bowl is a variation of this style, where rather than a large number of spots or drips, instead larger areas of high iron glaze were used to produce these large rust-colored streaks in the otherwise black-predominated glaze. Ancient Medieval Crusader Bronze Signet Ring; Rare!
For your consideration is a nice bronze signet Crusader ring with markings that is unique to the Crusaders and or Knights Templars. This ring dates to about the 12th century. And measures 20mm on the inside diameter. It still makes a decent seal, after centuries in the ground! This piece was worn a lot apparently. And most likely worn by the knight or crusader in some battles, as you can see from the small fracture on the top. Bronze is a very hard material. 183 This cross has an expansion at the top and an expanded keeled ending at the bottom. There is an eight ended Golgotha cross on the front with a chaplet in the center. The shafts of the spear and the vinegar stick are in the form of small beads. The edges of the expansions at the top and bottom are beaded as if to depict the walls of Jerusalem. The monogram uPbC[King of Glory] is at the top of the cross. The monograms IC XC[Jesus Christ] are on lateral ends of the cross beam. At the foot of the Golgotha cross there is a cross is laying on its side centered in a rhomb which depicts the mount. The monogram HNKA[Conqueror] is at the bottom of the cross. Ancient Silver Archer's Ring Very Rare Piece!
For your consideration is a beautiful Ancient Silver Archer's Ring that dates possibly to 500AD or even earlier. It measures 23mm on the inside diameter. And 40mm overall. This is one of the most unique archer's rings I have seen. And almost none of the ones I have seen in the past are silver. I don't know the weight of the ring, but it is fairly heavy and solid. I am listing this in the Byzantine category because because it was sort of a bridge connecting the east and west. But as most people who collect antiquities know that archer's thumb rings were primarily used in the eastern parts of the world( Turkey. Etc) and it was not used much in the west. The Romans did for a period of time. But the Mediterranean draw was the standard, and it did not involve the use of the thumb.
