Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This light was purchased at an estate sale where most of my other auction listing came from.I was told by the ... morefolks selling that this was a ships lamp or light and would have been in a cabin onboard a ship. I cannot find any others to compare it to on ebay and there are no markings on the light other than on the socket inside the lamp and on the side as shown are the letters P&O. I am not sure if this was a gas type light or not. Although it has a socket where a bulb or something would have fit but on the side of the light it looks like a flint or sparker. The light will need the chrome trim cleaned.Sorry I am not much help here, please see the pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me more. The works are mounted on a nice piece of oak and there are exposed wires etc on the back. It appears the glass is missing however the clip holder to hold the glass guard in is in the metal hood. The metal hood is hinged and has holes to let the heat escape. The light measures 11" long x 5" wide and weighs unpackaged 3-1/2 pounds. At the top of the light is a knob that can be turned to control the brightness i am guessing. I will combine items to save on shipping expenses, but please contact me for shipping rates as they vary depending on location, and the rates shown are only a ball park and apply only to Canada not including postal tax. Payment will be through Paypal unless otherwise agreed to by the seller. I try to be as accurate as possible with both my descriptions and pictures and I think my feedback speaks to that. Any buy it now auction that i offer will require immediate payment through Paypal when the auction ends. Please visit my other auctions as I have listed many more nice fishing reels and other very nice collectable items with more to be listed. Buyer pays all shipping expenses and insurance costs if insurance is wanted. Thanks. For Looking And Happy Bidding

However the entirety of the intricate metalwork pattern remains intact and d

Soldiers would bury their coins and jewelry before going into battle, and many of them did not return. They were also buried to avoid tax collectors and thieves. In ancient times, a ring distinguished an individual in a way that other forms of jewelry did not. Finger rings represented the language of social code, and connoted one’s social standing. Under the Empire, the finger ring was still considered a privilege, conferred for military distinction. As time wore on and attitudes changed, the ring was more freely bestowed. Even so, ... morethe ring retained its position as a mark of dignity, as a rich ornament, as an important seal, and as a token of betrothal. Special caskets were created for holding rings, and it was customary to remove a ring from the casket, to place on the finger of a visiting guest welcomed into one's home. 18th century ring byzantine green glass with hanging pearl. 925 silver & Bronze
This is without a doubt the most unusual ring I've ever laid eyes on. Another purchase at a European auction. One side of the ring has a 925 stamp. Quite hard to read. The other side appears to be made of bronze. There is a green glass stone on the bronze side and white glass with a pearl on the silver side. It is just so fascinating. It weighs 9.3 grams and is a size 5.25 although with the open setting it could be altered. While I'm not sure of it's actual age. It shows great patina and filigree work on either side of the ring. That is why my prices are very modest. I lived in Asgabat city(the capital of Turkmenistan) over 30 years. About 15 km from Asgabat there is Nisa– former residence of Alexander the Great. And capital of Parthia. In most cases the ancient beads. Not only played the role of jewelry but also the status of the person wearing them. You were able to tell the social status of an individual based on the beads they were wearing, while other used these beads as talismans protecting themselves against bad luck and the evil eye. Certain beads that have zigzagging lines are supposed to confuse the evil eye which would get lost in these lines. Beads that have the image of an eye try to just absorb the evil energy, and thus protect the person who is wearing them. Periodically the beads would be washed in salt water, because it is believe the salt water kills the negative energy. The image of the eye was sometimes
