Bronze dresser storage box 16 religious images antique Christian Christianity
As you can see. This box is about 6 inches wide, 4 inches front to back, and 3 inches tall with the lid closed. This is a 19th century antique loaded with 16 separate religious scenes. All in bronze raised relief. The box has a mahogany interior, and a sheet metal bottom that is a little loose and held on with brass tacks. There are also two flaws that will effect the price. First, the hinges on the lid are a bit sprung so if you close it without the latch, it stays open just a little. There is a l atch. But no key. I think these hinges can be adjusted a little to make that lid lay better but I will not work on this item. I am liquidating this estate, not doing repairs. Finally, one of the back legs is bent. The box still stands evenly, but I do not want to attempt straightening the leg for fear of breaking it off, so it will arrive with ... morea bent leg, sprung hinges, and a bottom that is a little bit loose. Even with those flaws. This is still a great antique box, with real nice patina and of great quality. The maker is unknown. The only mark I could find is shown in the last photo.
