ANTIQUE GILT IRON FRENCH REGENCY FIREPLACE SCREEN ORIGINAL BOTANICAL PRINT PANEL
We are pleased to offer this beautiful and rare. Antique to older vintage(1940s) fireplace screen. This superb, 3 panel, tri fold screen features ornate wrought iron which is finished in a stunning, very heavily textured, gold leaf. The panels, which have been designed to mimic an iron fence, have raised posts with round ball finials. They have sleek and straight perimeter frames with ornate scrolled iron inside their borders. The scrolls have rounded, flattened, almost"bottle cap" if you will, accents at the ends. The center panel has a large, acanthus leaf accent at the top which gives it an arched appearance. The screen panels are raised with iron legs and rounded, nondescript feet. Each of the three panels is further accented with their original, botanical prints/plaques. The prints feature different flowers with Latin descriptions ... morein hand written script. The prints have been"faux aged" with yellowed areas that replicate water stains and old parchment. The prints are mounted on hard composite backs and are attached to the frames via screws. The screen has a twisted iron rope border around each print. The back attachments for the prints are quite striking and are iron which has been formed into flowers. The screen is quite striking. It has a general French Regency design but has elements of Art Deco as well. It is in very good condition with only very minor evidence of age/use. There is a little thinning of the gold leaf in a couple of areas but it is quite minor and not at all distracting or severe. The tip of the acanthus leaf on the center screen is bent slightly at the top but this may have been in the design. The screen is VERY HEAVY and is quite sturdy. This is a fabulous screen. The screen measures as follows: When fully extended. It is 48" wide and it is 34" tall. Each side panel is 12" wide and 27" tall. The center panel is 24" wide and 34" tall. Grasses, Sedges and Ferns of Great Britain and Their Allies the Club Mosses, Horsetails& C. by Anne Pratt. This edition was published in 1899. This print is in great condition. It measures approximately 6 inches by 9 inches. And will come in a protective matte, shown in the image. No adhesives were used in matting, so the print is easily removed for use in any other matte/frame combination. Colors are fairly bold and well-saturated. And the paper is in good condition, especially for a print of this age.

The drawings are by Anne Pratt. Rendered in block-colored plates and finished by hand. The colors are wonderful and it would be incredible framed either alone or in a group. Unusual and rare hand-printed French cotton curtain panel with large-scale exotic botanical and peacock feather motifs. This exciting mid-19 th century museum quality piece is printed in the lush. Hand-colored deep roses, burgundies, warm creams and carefully shaded greens typical of that period, highlighted by graceful etched linears. The fabric is in good condition, with just a small half inch tear in the upper left side, and can still be used as a hanging. It’s lined with tan satin-weave cotton and trimmed with a tightly pleated deeper tan ruffle. It measures 31” wide by 93” in length, with an additional 1 ½” ruffle. The pattern has a 22” repeat, and considering its age, the color is quite rich, with only a subtle, gentle fading at the bottom. NOW AT SPECIAL PRICE.
