For sale an antique sampler dating to 1849 from France. This is a very beautiful and rare sampler. Along with the traditional number and letters we have a bird. Flowers and butterflies. We also have the date 16 Aout(in french) and the name Denny Bocquet 1849. It is all done in cross-stitch with cotton threads. There are about 20 stitches per inch. It is all trimmed with a green ribbon that is a little worn. The sampler has been folded in four so there are fold marks. Some discoloring on the background fabric but not bad. The colors are still vibrant. 14 1/2 inches in width and 13 1/2 inches in height. Shipping will be first class mail.

This is a wonderful piece of Americana! Here is a coverlet that has been made by a Plain Mennonite named SB Musselman from Hilltown. PA in Bucks County(1802-1874) He is regarded as a local master and the most prolific coverlet maker of Pennsylvania from 1830-1860's. It is believed that he made around 1,000 coverlets and each one would take about a week to make with the help of two apprentices. These were crafted to mark special occasions like weddings and christenings and to remember loved ones that passed. During his life in Hilltown, PA he created 40 different patterns. He also lived in Milford, PA where he worked with 79 patterns. The colors of this piece give it great folk appeal. It features tomato red. Green, navy blue and tan colors and a rooster or German bird border with floral and stars inside diamonds. One of the most interesting ... moreparts of the coverlet is that Musselman misspelled Hilltown as Hiltaun suggesting his Germanic background. The piece is numbered 774 in one corner block and"This coverlet belongs to Jonas D. Maier 1849" in the other. Down the sides it reads"PENSYLVAN" The coverlet has tons of character and has a few stains(I counted three) as shown. There is one corner that is worn and the fringe is worn. Considering the age and history it is still considered to be in very good condition. No date shown but it does show the population of the whole country as being 2,392,740 and this was the number shown in the census for 1850-60. The map shows the routes to Switzerland from London, Paris, Nice, Naples and Konigsberg together with all of the cantons. The map is backed on linen and is in 24 sections- total size is 36" by 24" Comes in its original paper slipcase which is now very battered. As always with maps of Switzerland the text is in English, French, Italian and German. This is a 1849 large cent. This pre-civil war coin is in great shape considering it is 164 years old! It does have some corrosion as you can see in the photos. Otherwise. Very nice! No bad dings or gouges and is not bent! There are a few normal little nicks etc. but you have to look hard to see them.

1849 Bible by G.E Eyre and W.Spottiswoode and a 1862 Wesley's Hymns leatherbound
You are bidding on two Antique leather bound books from the 18th century. The bigger book is a bible(old and new Testaments) dated 1849 and printed by G.E Eyre and W Spottiswoode. The bible is in fairly good condition with loose pages at the front and some hand written inscriptions at the front but the spine has come away and there is yellowing throughout but no spotting that I can see. It has a metal latch that works well. It also has a vintage hand embroidered bookmark that says Remember Me. a hand written name at the front says Jane Howells. The smaller book is a copy of Wesleys Hymns and a hand written inscription inside says January 4 1862 and the name Robert Charles Hay Upwell Hes? It is in better condition than the bible but their is yellowing throughout and some spotting in places and the hand inscribed front page is loose. It also ... moreis leather bound and has a metal latch that works well. The bible measures 5 inches by 3.5 and is 1.5 inches thick. The hymn book is 3.5 inches long by 2.5 inches and I and a quarter inches thick. Please pay within 3 days. If the postage comes in less I will refund the difference. I don't make on postage.
