It has a very nicely detailed lion head a good heavy blade so I am told it is a early model. The blade has some spotting and nicks on the edges along with some cleaning marks. 1820 US CAPPED BUST DIME, SMALL "0" VARIETY, F+ CONDITION, SCRATCH ON REVERSE
An 1820 US capped bust dime in F+ condition. This is the small"0" variety. This nice example of an early dime has a great obverse with good details and color and a small ding in the right field close to the 3 O'clock position. There is a large scratch on the reverse in the left field between the eagle's beak and the tip of the right wing. There is also a very light mark on the reverse rim near the 3 O'clock position. Otherwise. The reverse has very nice detail for a dime of this old age with the full"E Pluribus Unum" and even a few feathers being visible in the eagle's wings. This dime would be best displayed in an early US type coin collection where the reverse scratch would not be visible. Please bid with confidence and Good Luck.

vintage sheet music group 18 pieces— RONDOS. From the 1800s This is a unusual collection of 18 pieces of antique sheet music. All of which are identified as Rondos in style. Only a couple have copyright dates, but all mention their publishers. From their addresses, I was able to determine the range of years in which they were produced, based on information from Dichter& Shapiro's Handbook of Early American Sheet Music. Music published in the first half of the 1800s was more likely to lack a copyright date than music put out in the second half of the century. And it appears that 16 of the pieces in this group were probably issued between the 1820s and 1840s. They each measure approximately 10x13” in size. Most came from bound volumes and have typical minor disbinding marks at the spine. Overall. The group is in average used condition ... morefor music of this vintage, with a few pieces in poor shape; and one piece is incomplete. Their serious flaws are noted below. Rooster,Hen& Chicks" Kano School, c.1820 If you set your monitor at FULL SCREEN from TOOLS you will be better able to view the photos This is a wonderful Japanese Hanging Scroll with a painting on silk by an unindented artist from the Kano School. The Painting is not signed or sealed. But, by its subject, style and condition, I believe it dates to the late Edo Period or around 1820. I do not think that the whole of the simple, but effective, mounting is original to the painting. The Kano school is one of the most famous schools of Japanese painting. It was founded by Kano Masanobu(1434-1530) A contemporary of Sesshu and student of Shubun. Kano painters often composed very flat pictures. But they balanced impeccably detailed realistic depictions of animals and other subjects in the foreground with ... moreabstract, often entirely blank, clouds and other background elements. The use of negative space to indicate distance, and to imply mist, clouds, sky or sea is drawn from traditional Chinese modes and is used beautifully by the Kano artists. This is a pair of early 1800's blacksmith wrought iron meat forks. The longer one has nice early details of the era and measures 17 1/4" x 1" The smaller one is more graceful and delicate. Inside is a great collection of petite tools. They include a bone* spool, a silver thimble, brass scissors, a leather& silk pin cushion, a brass crochet hook, 2 mother of pearl thread winders, mother of pearl waxer, mother of pearl pen knife, a tape measure and a tatting shuttle made of natural shell. The tools are all in excellent condition with no damage. The thimble is sterling silver(tested) and the scissors and penknife open and close. Offered is an original. Chippendale, cradle, circa 1800 and in very good condition. It is a beautiful, rich, old, mahogany, and shows only one small repair. At some time the rockers were removed so that thecradle would be stationary as any other feature in the room. In general, it's ready to go. The bottom is the original pine and you can see where the stretchers were attached. The finish is original Mahogany and the cradle is dovetailed. It measures approx. 45" long x 23"w x 25"h inches. One client out of Canada has the most creative idea of using it as a pet bed for cats or your dog. Others like to drape Quilts on theirs. Up for auction an antique vintage Norwegian I mmigrant T runk dated 1820. It came from a Norwegian farm settlement in the Madison. Wisconsin area. This is beautifully Rosemaled trunk from the very early period of Norwegian pioneering i mmigration to North America. Front and both sides are elaborated hand painted with floral motifs. T he lock is period to the time. As would be the nails and wooden pegs used. No key for the lock though. The trunk is solidly built with the hand forged metal plates reinforc ing sides and top. Inside is relatively clean- no major issues- wood work has stood test of times. A few scuff marks here and there. As would be normal for a trunk of this age. EARLY 19TH CENTURY LINEN & SILK SAMPLER BY JANE DUNSTONE C.1820-30
Early 19th century linen and silk work sampler by Jane Dunstone of Cossington aged 10. Though undated. The subject matter and the type of stitching would suggest this sampler dates to c.1820-30. I have also done some research and whilst I can't find Jane Dunstone, I have found an Elizabeth Dunstone of Cossington in Somerset born 1827 who might be either Jane's sister or daughter. This is a beautiful piece- finely stitched with a central verse called"The promises of God" which goes as follows I love them that love me and those that seek me early shall find me and who so findeth me findeth life everlasting. Be it my only wisdom here to serve the lord with filial fear With loving gratitude Superior sense may I display by shuning every evil way and walking in the good Above the verse are very finely stitched floral motifs and ... morebutterflies. Down the sides of the verse are dogs. Trees and more floral urns. Beneath the verse are Jane's details and then a wonderful central tree motif on a lawn with birds and a basket The whole thing is surrounded by a delicate honeysuckle border. there is no border along the bottom edge and looking behind the glass it looks as though this edge has been removed) The linen has overall discolouration consistent with its age and the colours of the silks are good. There is the odd stitch missing and two areas of damage- one on the left hand side of the lawn(see photo 5) and a small area on the left hand side by the bird next to the first part of the verse(see photo There is also a small repair by the right hand dog above the word"God" see photo 2) That said, this is still a lovely piece and beautifully stitched. PLEASE NOTE- ANY WHITE MARKS ON THE PHOTOS ARE THE GLARE FROM THE GLASS AND NOT HOLES. On the reverse of the sampler is an old label which says"Mrs Seaton Hillwith Home. Deones. This paymaster desk was used to record work hours and pay the staff in cash before the age of income tax. The slanting top has galleries to hold ledgers and journals. Distressed saddle leather in the center panel has an adjustable easel underneath. Drawers and the back of the case are all hand dovetailed. Inner surfaces are hand planed, drawers have oak sides.
