A celebrated licensee, also renowned for his collection of coins, has attracted the attention of numismatists from near and far. Due to lack of a will the complications of’intestate’ surfaced and although the auctioneers made some active progress with the sale of the coin collection, the content of the property was left in abeyance due to legal complications. All of this twelve months ago and it wasn’t until recently that the major and important items of interest were removed and sent to auction with the house then being placed for sale on the open market. Firstly however it had to be sanitized and we were the concern fortunate enough to be issued with instructions to clear the place of its residual’kelter’ prior to the aforementioned ... moresale. The job was completed Sunday last and this next compilation of items have come directly from the house. Most of them are intact and in reasonable condition. The seriously damaged and non-operative items have been relegated to the dump. To see some of the other’bits’ recovered from this same source, see my other auctions. At first sight this item looks to be in a bit of mess but upon closer examination. once all the muck has been brushed off and its had a polish, it is a different situation altogether. Re-glue one‘bunch of grapes’ replace two oval pieces of glass and you are on a winner. Sadly the next bit isn’t so easy. You have either got to be a very good‘d.i.y.e.r’ or’know a little man! because a bit of carving or copying has to be employed. This is brought about by a missing’bunch of grapes’ The item was found in the garage and although I searched diligently, I did not find the missing’bunch’ Initially I thought of asking a pal of mine to carve one, then I thought about using the loose one as a mould and cast a copy in plaster of Paris and then painting or staining it. As can be seen…I did neither. Time, time, time, I simply cannot find the time…let

Victorian Pair of Carved Oak Bookends with Face Masks
These wonderful 19 th century oak carved bookends are reminiscent of earlier English church carvings. As well as in earlier English period oak furniture. The color and patination are superb. The top of the bookends are carved to resemble pelmets. And as such, are scalloped around their edges with small, hand-made nail holes to give them another dimensional quality. The edges of the pelmet are gently rounded. The face masks themselves are deeply carved to show the detail of hair. Eyes, noses, cheeks and lips. Yet, each one has a distinctly different face and emits an entirely different personality. The bookends are nearly the same size. At approximately 3-3/4” wide by 5-3/8” high. Up for auction is this vintage wooden gavel for the 4H Club. See pictures. It features a dark stain, and the 4H symbol on the head. You can see that the paint is worn on 1 of the leaves, as well as some minor wear to the stain on the bottom of the gavel. I think this was either my mother's or my grandmother's, so it may have been from the 1930's or 1940's. It measures approximately 8 1/2" long, and the head is 2" x 1 3/8" x 1 1/4" It is not large or heavy, but it solid wood. Vintage Antique Folk Art Match Safe Fireplace Display Cabin Art??
This is for an old Folk Art Fireplace Display. I am not sure of it's exact age. But would guess from the 1920's to 30's. It has 2 old match safes, a small mirror, and 4 iron hooks that have been attached to a hand painted and hand carved wood display. The paint is checking in some areas. The bird carvings were beautifully done. The sides and bottom also have hand carvings. There are dings, scratches, and some minor warping commensurate with age, but overall in quite nice shape. The only new additions are the wire connectors for hanging. This piece came from a turn of the century rural farm house in south western Wisconsin(The thick dust and soiled surfaces are free) It would make a beautiful display in your log cabin or primitive area. These are very unusual and quite imposing pieces. But am not sure what they were used for. This pair of wooden urns have tops which come off to reveal holes for knives or candles or possibly cigars. They definitely have age, old green paint, and some paint touch ups and chips(see photos) They measure a whopping 19" high by 5" in diameter. The rack is large at 21 1/2" tall and expands to approximately 47" wide. Give or take a couple inches. There are seven pegs 4" long and the bottom row has three pegs 2 1/4" long. There are three holes across the top for hanging. The rack is in nice condition and the wood has a rich patina to it. It has a nice patina. Just a beautiful basket! The tall handle is secure and intact. It is made of split bamboo and has a nice weaved part at the top of the handle. One of the weaves have split around the rim. And one of the tiny wood pegs where the handle attaches to the rim of the basket looks like it is pushing out a bit. Antique. Victorian Wood Dental Molding. These two dental molding pieces were obtained from salvage of an old Victorian 1880's home and was hand carved for that particular home. One measures 16 1/2 inches long, 3 3/4 inches tall and 5/8 inches thick. The other piece measures 22 inches long, 3 3/4 inches tall and 5/8 inches thick. Could be used in two different places or placed together to make a longer piece. Great for a restoration item, replacement of dental molding or would make a great arts and crafts project, like maybe a key hanger or shelf border. Here's an old 19th Century Wooden Sign or back splash which was salvaged from an old Castle Spring House in Bruxelle's over 60 years ago. It is made of solid 1 1/8" thick hard wood which I believe is European Oak and measuring 55" x 18" bottom half) and 18" ht at the center crest. The thick 2" hand carved 5" x 5" horse head is attached from the back an is original. As well as the Beautiful original Crackle Patina that simply puts this piece over the top! In the center of the sign is a brass plaque that reads~ ~~Pierre Dehaes Fabrique De Glacieres Bruxelles~~~ Could be left as is. Antique TOY Child's Doll Dresser Blue and White w Mirror / Painted Flower Drawer
Offering for your consideration a sweet little wooden toy dresser from the 1920's-1930's period. The toy dresser has the original blue and off white paint with a small yellow and green flower hand painted on the top drawer. It also has the original mirror. Which can be moved in place. The dresser measures 13 1/2" tall by 11" long by 5" deep. There are a few very minor paint wears here and there as might be expected on an antique toy. The overall condition is excellent. Antique English RARE Wooden Carved Hollow Apple (601)
There is an English Patent Number on this carved wooden apple but I had no luck deciphering it or finding any information. It may be late 18th or early 19th Century. French oval oak table top wine barrel made by Eugene Leroux Maitre Tonnelier(Master Cooper) and signed although probably made between 1910 and 1925 The barrel is solid coopered oak with brass banding( or maybe copper. Vintage Antique Hand Carved Wood Spoon Rack Leaf Holds 20
Up for auction is a old hand carved/made wood spoon holder. It is@ 14" wide and@ 13 1/8" tall. Holds 20 spoons. Wood looks like fruitwood or maybe rosewood. Joints are all very solid.
