Lot of 2 MATCHED early 1900's AMERICAN FOLK ART CLUBS EXERCISE PINS JUGGLING PIN
Up for auction is a MATCHED PAIR of SPALDING EXERCISE OR JUGGLING PINS made by and labeled A.G. Spalding& Bros. Each of the pins is labeled and weighs about 1 lb. They have a wonderful finish. The bottom of the pins is concave. They stand upright well. I am not sure but from what I have researched these pins could easily be from the early 1900's. This is a wonderful example of early exercise equipment. There are some dents. Nicks and scratches from being used, though they are in excellent condition for thier age! Please look at the pictures for a better portrayal of the condition. This is an estate find. Up for grabs are 3 antique primitive wooden juggling/ exercise pins. The middle one with the black stripes is a little taller than the other 2. There is some wear which should be expected as these were probably used for their intended purpose back in the late 1800's to early 1900's. They are all marked 1LB. The two shorter ones are carved 1LB while the taller one is painted on. Taller middle pin is 16 1/2" tall. Others are 14 1/2" tall. These would make for some interesting decor in your home! 18" WOODEN PAINTED JUGGLING PIN - INDIAN CLUB- EXERCISE PIN - DECORATIVE ART
Painted Wooden Juggling Pin This is an 18" tall wooden juggling pin or exercise club which has been painted. I don't know the age of this item. The wood doesn't really appear very old. So I think that this may have been made purely as a decorative item. The base of the pin measures 2" across. While the round top knob is about 1.75" across. At the club's widest point. It measures straight across at approx. 3.5" The bottom of the club is not hollowed out. And it looks like there is part of an old label there. All I can make out are the letters'CH' It's in very nice shape. The natural wood has a nice grain to it. And no chips or cracks that I can see. There are some small chips to the paint job. Which you can see in the photos~I have taken photos of all sides of the club. The colors on the club are ... morevery pleasing, and in the second to last photo. This auction is for a lot of 3 antique wooden juggling pins or Indian exercise clubs. Two of the three pins are matching and measures approximately 17.5" tall. The non-matching pin is smaller and measures approximately 15" tall. They are in good condition and have very nice patinas that show their age. There are no big chips or cracks on the pins. Please scroll down under this description for additional views. A single 1 pound 2 ounce inlaid wood juggling pin. 16 1/2" long. The light wood looks like maple and the darker wood like walnut. This is such an attractive striking piece and it's interesting to view it from the bottom end to see how these 1/2" by 1/2" pieces of wood were laminated in a checkerboard pattern and then lathe turned to reveal the symmetrical geometric patterning. It stands quite nicely and will make for an eye-catching piece in your room. It was not a"show piece" the former owner was not shy about using it and it bears the scars of the gymnasium. There are some dents, surface scratches and scuff marks. It could stand a gentle cleaning and some good wax. This auction is for a pair of antique Hard To Find Children's/ Child/ Youth size wood INDIAN CLUBS weighing(and marked) 1/2 pound each. They measure approximately 12 1/2" tall. And are in very nice condition as shown in the photographs. This was the smallest and lightest of the pairs of Indian Clubs. And were made for children to use as part of their very first introduction to exercise and physical fitness. Indian Clubs were a form of exercise equipment popular in the late Victorian Era in America and abroad.
