This is a fabulous shape with a very unique profile! It was a well-loved block and has quite a few pin holes from use. There is also some wear at the point where the four pieces come together. Please see photos. I have used this block many times and the damage at the four points does not effect the finished hat. I have used aluminum foil to fill in the spots then covered the block with foil before using. It also has a great patina. Perfect for the at-home or professional milliner. Vintage Millinery Hat Block Antique Mold Form Hat block is made of Balsa Wood. It has a solid wood base that head sits with the#23(circumference of the ... morebase) is stamped into on the front. It has 3 holes drilled into the bottom. The 2 outer holes are about 3/4" deep& the center hole goes up into the block at least 1/2 way up or more. Im guessing this is so the block can be placed on a stand/post of some sort. Head portion of the block measures 6 3/4" tall x 7 1/2" long x approx 6 1/2" wide(tough to measure on the curve) The base measures 7 1/2" long x 6 1/4" wide x 3/4" tall. It is affixed with two bolts. It appears that there was some writing towards outer perimeter of base but it's mostly rubbed away& unreadable. No other markings that I can find. I have no idea how old it is but it's definitely vintage. I purchased a lot of 3 vintage hat blocks from the estate of a woman who was a skilled dress& hat maker. She moved to Florida 30+ yrs ago from New York so perhaps the blocks came from there? Block has a really nice patina to the wood and no damage(chips. Cracks, repairs) The lighting is off in the pic of the bottom so it's not true to color. Block has pin holes and tool marks from useage on the head as shown. I have no idea how old it is but it's definitely vintage. I purchased a lot of 3 vintage hat blocks from the estate of a woman who was a skilled dress& hat maker. She moved to Florida 30+ yrs ago from New York so perhaps the blocks came from there? Block has a really nice patina to the wood and no damage(chips. Cracks, repairs) The lighting is off in the pic of the bottom so it's not true to color. Block has pin holes and tool marks from useage on the head as shown. This is a nice set of 4 pieces. The taller crown has a head size of 22 1/2" and is about 4" tall. At its base it measure 6 1/2" from front ... moreto back and 6 1/2" from side to side. The lifter fits this crown very well and also has a head size of 22 1/2" It is 1/2" thick and would raise the height of the crown by this additional amount. The shallow crown has a circumference of 24" even though the measurement 22 1/2" is incised on the bottom. It has a diameter of 8' front to back and 7" side to side. The lifter doesn't fit this crown. Also there is a 3/4" long shallow divot on the top. It won't show much on a felt or velour body. But might on a fine straw. The brim has a circumference of 46" and measures 15" from front to back and 14" from side to side. The block's peg holes allow crowns to be placed in either direction. This was a well used brim, as can be seen by the hundreds of tack holes around the base, and several chips occurred along the edge. Many of those have been repaired with wood epoxy, but the edges are still not completely smooth. All four pieces have been recently lacquered and I am including one peg with the set.

The number 2030 handwritten on the base. And there's a maker's mark on the top in white lettering, but it has worn off& I can't make out the words. I'm 98% the first word is 5 maybe 6 letters long, starts with an'R' and ends with an'OM' The other two words are unreadable. The block is constructed with 2 sliding interlocking pieces, secured with screws on each side. Some of the screws have been removed so the 2'halves' slide apart along a metal fastening bar. Hat portion of the block measures 7 1/2 tall x 7" long x 6" wide(tough to measure on the curve) Base measures 7" long x 6" wide x 3" tall(front) 2 1/4" tall(back) with 3 holes for stand on bottom. You are bidding on a vintage wood millinery flange plunge cloche brim block. Mold No. 2449. Size 22-1/4" Brim is 2-1/2" at center front. 2" ... moreat center back, 3" on the turned up side and 2" on the other. A very classic and easy to wear shape in a Downton Abbey-esque cloche shape. It was a well-loved block and has quite a few pin holes from use. There is a crack in the side that will need to be repaired with wood glue. Part of the outside edge of the brim has been repaired and it will need a bit of sanding as well. Please see photos. It also has a great patina. Perfect for the at-home or professional milliner. Antique Vintage Millinery Wooden Hat Mold Block Form Fedora Style
Vintage wooden hat mold/block/form. In very good condition. All original. As found. No cracks or chips. Marked 7 1/8. 4 1/4 and#82. Measures 4" high in front, 5 1/2" on sides and 7 3/4" across the top. The base measures 6 1/2 x 7 3/4. Fedora western style crown. Please see the other vintage items I have listed.

Measures approx 8" tall by 6 1/4" by 7 1/4" Light weight wooden hat mold in used condition. Has pin marks. Slight discoloration and scratches but overall I would say it is still in very good condition. Marked on base 22 1/2 and 796 Midwest H.B. D. Co. Chicago. Also has the original owners name written on bottom"Frieda Schmitt"
