Here is an old depth guage with no markings so I don't know who made it. The slide is round with no markings and the piece it slide on is also round. Which I think is pretty unusual. ~* Up for bid is a Vintage Sealed Wooden Piece! ~* I am not sure what this is supposed to be. It is a completely sealed wooden object with engraved circles and lines on the top. And engraved on one side as“A.M.I. 10-11-93” The underside has a small dark area which looks like a heart. The interior is definitely Hollow. As you can hear balls/beads rolling around when you shake it. At first I thought this was a Game of some kind. But there is definitely no way to access the interior to remove the balls. And the initials and date lead me to think of a birth or a death. This entire piece measures aprox. 3” x 3” x 1.33” It is in Excellent Condition. I do not see any wear. The monks of Gethsemani began selling their handmade cheeses in the 1940s. Using milk from their own herd of prize-winning Holsteins. The produced cheeses in the tradition of their Trappist brothers at the Abbey of Port du Salut, the French monastery that lent its name to that world. Re-owned semi-soft cheese. The box is all wood and the lid is also solid wood. Imprinted and impressed in the lid in black is a picture of the Abbey. And the words: Trappist cheese.Gethsemani Abbey. Vintage Russian black-lacquered Wooden Carved Painting Picture"YESENIN ESENIN" Made in USSR(1970s) Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin(sometimes spelled as Esenin; Russian: Серге́й Алекса́ндрович Есе́нин; 3 October 1895– 28 December 1925 was a Russian lyrical poet. He was one of the most popular and well-known Russian poets of the 20th century. Sergey Esenin was born in Konstantinovo in the Ryazan Province(Gubernia) of the Russian Empire to a peasant family. He spent most of his childhood with his grandparents. Who essentially reared him. He began to write poetry at the age of nine. In 1912. Esenin moved to Moscow, where he supported himself working as a proofreader in a printing company. The following year he enrolled in Moscow State University as an external student and studied there for a year and a half. His early poetry was inspired ... moreby Russian folklore. C. 1870- 1880. The piece is intricately hand-carved, and likely German in origin. It features a"North-wind" style face in the center, and two figural carvings projecting outward. The piece is made of solid& heavy oak, and is in superb condition, free of chips, cracks, or losses to the ornamentation. Some modern elements have been added to the back to improve stability and for ease of hanging. I also had the top shelf refinished in an antique shade that perfectly matches the rest of the piece. This rare wooden keg has been thoroughly cleaned and is in good antique condition! We don't know its exact age. But its construction is quite primitive. It's structured with six circular metal frames to hold the wooden panels in place. There is a smooth wooden handle on top is held by a brass hinge for carrying. The emptly barrel weighs 14 pounds-which is etched on one the end of the keg: WT 14 LBS" on one end(See Photos) right next to a brass spout with a removable plug. The brass tap looks newer-as though it may have been added later. The bands of wood are loose. And somebody(a while back) hammered nails in an attempt to hold the metal bands in place. These bands have light rust ... moreand patina appropriate for an antique item. The nails were not effective, however, as both the metal bands and the wood panels are loose and have quite a bit of give We believe that if the keg were filled with liquid the wood would expand and tighten up. There is a 2" brass circle under the handle with a 1¼" screw-out plug where the keg can be filled. There is a latch and lock to potentially cover fill hole. Howeve the latch is in the open position and the padlock is dangling from it in the locked position(there is no key) Wt. 14 LBS Brass Tap 1843" is etched in tiny print on the padlock. Two of the six metal bands were crimped to make four legs to hold the barrel up off the counter or table. This piece is very rustic and would make a great collectors item. If only it could talk! 18th century Italian carved wood capital with gilt wood acanthus leaf decoration. Carved three quarters as the column it once stood on must have been against a wall. Despite the losses this piece has a lot of charm. Fo r years I used it as a base for a sculpture I recently sold. An absolutely gorgeous example of an antique Victorian Biscuit Barrel. Now that tea isn't such an expensive commodity. This could certainly also be used for a most attractive Tea Caddy. The floral design on this is truly outstanding. The whole piece is further accented by an ornate double gold trim around the top and the bottom. See picture 6 for details of the rim. This piece originally had a handle, but it is now missing. However, that certainly doesn't stop it for being used for its original purpose. Marked S F& Co England with the Crown mark.
