It was made from.040 brass. A heavy gauge brass. The neat tarnish color was what remained on the brass after I soaked it in paint stripper to remove the layers of paint. There are no dents and a few tiny scratches from use. There are no deep scratches that would not buff out. Since it is solid brass a magnet will not stick and it could be polished to a high shine. It is 4 9/16 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall. This antique plate has some scratches and wear on the finish. You can see these in the photos. Vintage Lot Brass Filigree Light Switch Covers Plate Covers ( Heavy ) NICE!
These are some very old light switch plate covers as you can see. Almost threw these out till I see people actually have interest in this type of stuff. Not sure what they are made of but they are not metal. Not magnetic. Probably brass or some other type of material. the black covers all were in packages but the packages where a bit rough so I took them all out of the packages. Those black covers have some type of either copper looking foil on the backs of them Although the packages they where in were rough the actual covers are in nice condition with the exception of the one that has the foil a little ruffled. These weight 2.4 oz each. a lot for a switch cover. The black covers have 2 sets of screws as well. The lighter colored one has some type of what I would consider a sea shell type reflective look to it or maybe a pearl look to it. ... moreThis one I believe is used as I can see a very little amount of paint along the edges here and there but still in very good condition. That cover weights even more at 3.4 oz. Again. Very heavy for a light switch cover. Very nice pieces to incorate into a house restoration or just a room restoration. I had gotten these in a box at a old farm realastate auction along with a bunch of other odd and ends that was in a lot I had won. everything I swear everything was old there so I can't say for certain just how old all these are but certainly date back a bit. Heavy cast metal switch plate and outlet covers in Vintage French Revival raised floral. Rose pattern. Off white& gold These are salvaged from a vintage Airstream trailer. Although probably not original to the trailer and would be perfect for restoring a vintage canned ham or other retro trailer. These would be great for a glam princess room or Victorian look. They are previously owned in nice vintage condition and have some rubbing of finish/paint, 10 screws- not all are brass. These would be great for steam punk! Auto Sprinkler Plate and caps. Plus ring connectors, all solid and all heavy! The boiler thermometer or gauge is heavy duty also, and reads from 40 degrees to 280, they came from an old Hospital/ Nursing home built before the 50's In Torrington Wyoming, recently tore down. the plate and caps measure about 15" long x 9" tall, the capes areabot 3" across x 2" deep. The connector collars measure 3 1/4" across x 3" long. and are attached to the original cast pipe which measures 14" long x 3" across. they are threaded! all are in good condition, except for the ends of the pipe where they were cut! inteesting historic pieces, alot of brass!
