This is a vintage metal wall switch plate cover. It measures 6 5/8" tall and 2 7/8" wide. I'm not sure of the metal but it is heavy and a magnet does not stick to it. The plate is brass tone and has original vintage patina. It is in used condition and selling as reclaimed.

Unique"State? Art Co"name is there but hard to make out) Chicago Illinois, Universal Switch cover. I believe the date 1931 or 1881 is visible in picture#4 and 5, hard to make it out. The Art Company is vague with only a few letters that I can make out even though they are all there. Made of a white pliable rubber material. Comes from an estate sale at a house built in 1855. The cover plate measures about 6-1/2 inches tall, and 4-3/4 inches wide, and 1/4 inch thick for the flat base. Weight is 4.6 ounces. Feel free to ask any questions before bidding.
