Vintage Lusterware Japanese Floral Hand Painted Sugar Bowl
Welcome! Up for consideration today is a beautiful three-toned luster ware. Sugar bowl. This hand painted sugar bowl features a floral design with a three-toned color scheme of beige, white, and blue. It does have a black accent stripe separating the design from the top of the bowl where the blue is located. There is some use wear on the bowl handles and on the blue knob on the top. There are no chips or cracks, and it has minimal scratches on the bowl. On the back of the bowl in the blue section there is a maker's flaw- please check the photos. Handpainted floral design, blue/cream with gold gilded handles, either sides of bowl as well as on top grip, item is in excellent condition, estimate 50's, possibly earlier, based on recollection of childhood at Gram's house! This set has a scene depicting an English gentleman purchasing an apple while his coach and coachmen wait. There's a manor house in the background. This scene is labeled"The Olden Days" under the illustration. It appears on both sides of the sugar bowl. But just on one side of the creamer. Both pieces are edged in gold, and the creamer has a gold stripe on the handle. The sugar bowl is about 2-3/8" high at the rim. And the creamer is about the same height, at the tip of the spout. Both pieces are marked with an"English Ware" Lancasters mark in green. There is also an incised number- 169 on both. Both have the decorator's ... moremarks in gold also. This is a very fancy Victorian Sugar Shaker. The company Locke Worcester was only in business for a short time during the late 1800's. We are putting a little history about it at the end of the listing. The shaker has a beautiful lid with a heavy cast of brass with Silver plating. There is a darling little finial at the top of the silver lid. It is very finely made. The shape is just wonderful. The china is in the"pineapple pattern" This piece is only marked on the bottom with the potters mark. It does not have the company marking. This is very typical of Victorian items before 1898. After the McKinley Tarrif Act most all the china had to be marked to be imported. Before 1898. That was not the always case. The Sugar Shaker is in mint condition with no chips or cracks. Antique Japanese Porcelain Creamer & covered Sugar Bowl handpainted ? Kutani ?
A lot of a Japanese? Kutani ware? porcelain Creamer and covered Sugar Bowl depicting a multi-color nature scene of birds flying and sitting: quail. Flowers, mountains and water. The creamer measures approx. 4 1/4" across to tip of handle and is 3 3/4" high. The sugar bowl measures approx. 5 3/4" across from handle tip to tip and is 4" high. Please note that the Sugar Bowl Cover does not appear to be the original one- its similiar in coloration. But on close inspection, it is just a bit too small and appears to be a different quality of material- please see all the photos Including photos of the markings on the bottom of these pieces so that you can come to your own conclusion as to their age and manufacture of these lovely pieces of porcelain which appear to be handpainted. Up for auction is this STUNNING. ART DECO, 2 piece set of CREAMER and SUGAR Bowl made in BAVARIA, GERMANY by ORMONT which is stamped on the bottom of both pieces in green ink. This beautiful pair has an iridescent pearly rainbow of colors as the glaze overlaying the lovely hand painted flowers, trimmed in GOLD GILT around the top of the openings as well as the handles of both with just a hint of the gold gilt trailing away from the flowers! There is no lid for the sugar bowl, if there ever was one, it does not show anyhwere on the top of the sugar bowl from taking a lid on and off, from what my eyes can see, this set is in PRISTINE condition, no chips, cracks, nor crazing.they are FABULOUS!
