This auction is featuring a vintage antique ceramic animal sculpture made in Czechoslovakia in the 1950's. The item was meant to be a milk creamer. The creamer is in excellent undamaged condition as shown in the many photos. The creamer measures 4 5/8" tall to the highest point. 3 5/8" wide across the antlers, and 6 1/2" wide from the tip of his nose to the outer handle point. I believe ca. 1895 to 1935) It is finely decorated with a bouquet of"old roses" in pink, orange, and white, with an embossed rim and foot, highlighted with a green luster(lustre) finish. Both pieces have arched handles with open tops, and the sugar bowl has a lovely lid with an arched finial handle. These two pieces are in very good condition. There is very little wear to the decoration and design; the rose decal is very clear. And the luster is very solid. This beautifully shaped antique creamer measures approximately 3½" wide and 3¾" high. It features what looks to me like a woman in reeds in white relief with spattered green and luster background; the top edge is embossed with a floral pattern- the pattern might be IRIS. It is marked Crown R ALTENBURG SAXONY. According to Kovels' This mark was used by Porcelain Manufactory Unger& Schilde of Roschutz, Thuringia, Germany. The pottery was founded by Karl Unger and Bernhard Schilde in 1881. Some of the decoration was done by families, including young children, who worked in their homes. The company was nationalized in 1953. The mark they show was used beginning about 1906 but has IRIS added to it- I can't find anything about any other marks they used. RARE--Lovely Antique Ovington's Limoges Creamer by T&V--approx. 90 yrs old. NR!
Gorgeous Yellow Limoges Creamer-early 1920s-made expressly by T&V for Ovington's New York! Ovington's was a famous(some say notorious) store in New York that specialized in household decorative items and tableware. Originally founded as Ovington Brothers in 1849. It changed it's name to Ovington's in 1920. In its heyday, Ovington's was as famous and prestigeous as its jewelry making counterpart, Tiffany's. Unfortunately it doe not survive the economic woes of the Great Depression. Tressemann& Vogt was one of many factories doing business in Limoges. France the late 19th/early 20th century. They produced many pieces of white ware that were decorated elsewhere and decorated porcelain as well. Their marks consisted of both a green rectangular underglaze T&V white ware mark and a red bell overglaze decorating ... moremark. As shown in the second picture. In 1919 Martial Reynaud bought the company and continued using the T&V mark for a while as well as his own Reynaud mark. Ovington's often commissioned tableware patterns from the finest manufacturers to be made expressly for. And limited to. Ovington's. Thus Ovington's would have patterns that no one else had. This little creamer is one of those items, as the marks on the bottom indicate. I have not been able to discover the name of the pattern. This incredible little creamer stands approximately 5" tall and approximately 4 1/4" from the top of the handle to the tip of the spout. It is in pristine. Near perfect condition. The only wear and tear is some slight wear on the unglazed edges on the bottom where it would have sat on a table or shelf. We should all look so good when we hit 90 years of age. Collectors will recognize that this is a rare find! Unknown Maker Antique Covered Sugar Dish w/ Silver Trim Made in USA
This listing is for an antique covered. With handles, sugar dish. I have searched and searched, but cannot figure out who the maker is. There is a stamp on the bottom of the dish and I cannot make out the top two lines. The bottom 3 lines read"White, Made in U.S.A, 121A" It is a sweet little sugar dish that without the lid is 3.5 inches high and 5.5 inches wide measuring from the ends of each handle. It has a beautiful pattern with roses and red, blue and yellow flowers that is obviously an old pattern. It is trimmed in silver at the rim of the dish, the rim of the lid and on top of the lid's'knob' It is in wonderful condition with no cracks, scratches or other obvious wear other than some gentle usage over the years. There isn't even any crazing in the glaze.
