Up for bid is a red and white J.M. Son(John Meir) Roselle cup and saucer set. Starting a s John Meir c.1812-36. And then to John Meir& Son c.1837-97. ENGLAND" was added to marks after c.1890. According to one expert, which would date this 1890's. According to another expert the hallmark is identical to that used during the"Bamboo" era(Made briefly in the 1850's) who claims it was made in the 1850's. I must admit it looks just like a hallmark I saw with the"Bamboo" where this has"Roselle" and this has"England" It's one of the two I'm fairly certain. you can go with the expert of your choise. It is in very, very, good condition with no chips, cracks, or nicks. This was left to me by my Mom. The cup measuring 8.5cm diameter x 6.75cm high(just over 3.25" x 2.5" and the saucer 14.25cm(5.5" both items have no cracks, chips, crazing or damage, the pattern is sharp and clear and the glaze very shiny but there is noticeable rub to the gold trim reflected in the lower selling price but they do display very well.
