Beautiful Cup& Saucer Imari Japan Pattern by Spode c1815 Presented is a set of cup and saucer from Spode China c1815 Decorated in in the Imari or Japan style. This item is marked for made in England. Pattern#2214 with cobalt Blue, various orange and gold floral and leaf motif. The condition is great with no cracks and a few scratches on bottom up cup from gentle use and a bit of wear to gold detailing. Spode China is a very popular ceramic known for the quality and style of the items they produce. It is an outstanding item in a beautiful and unusual design with no handle showing it to be of an earlier make. It is incredibly light with amazing detail. The saucer measures 5 1/2" in circumference and the flat tea cup is 4" from rim edge to handle edge. There is moderate rubbing on the gold gilt on the cup, very minutely on the saucer and virtually no rubbing on the hand. There are no chips, cracks or breaks in this set, however, as can be seen in picture 4 I have been able to capture the crazing which has occurred on the cup's bottom and handle. Japan IRIDESCENT creamy YELLOW WHITE GOLD Footed Tea Cup Fine porcelain China waisted and footed TEA CUP 1) with gold flowers over creamy yellow iridescent glaze around the top level 2) and gold design over creamy yellow iridescent glaze on the second indented level 3) with white pearlized glaze on the third indented level. This is a flared and footed teacup. The rim is trimmed with a gold band. The cup pedestal is also trimmed with a gold band. There is a little extra gold on the pedestal rim that you can see in picture 2– right beneath the gold band. The bowl is a white iridescent pearlized finish showing pretty rainbow colors. Fancy handle is indented with finger grips on the inside and is sprinkled with gold. The cup is 2 ¾” tall. The diameter of the cup is 2 ¾” The cup’s widest point with the handle is 3” The pedestal is 1 ... more½” in diameter. The cup holds 2 oz. No chips. The guilding is supurb. The only blemishes are insignificant irregularities in fireing which occur in early porcelaine. Some patches of tiny grey dots on the undrside of the tea cuo is an example. There is normal scuffing on the base rims. I have tried to show this in the photos. This trio is in great condition for its age. Dainty Miniature Teacup and Saucer Vintage From Occupied Japan Doll-Sized with Octagon Shape* This lovely set belonged to my grandmother and is therefore. Quite old. Unfortunately, I cannot place on it an exact date. The painted scene is light, as if a watercolor, and captures the look of a seaside"country" house.
