An archaic dragon-like mythical creature, is depicted“climbing up” the neck of the vase which rises from a globular body set over a recessed base. The entire vase is covered with a visually-appealing, finely-crackled milky-white glaze, except for the edge of the footring. There is an old repair to the left leg of the chilong and a few small patches of old oily residue in recessed areas under the creature. It could be cleaned. If desired. The Vase is guaranteed to be an authentic Kangxi period example. So please bid with full confidence. The Vase is richly decorated with an interesting Kangxi period design including figures. Rock cliffs, mountains, lakes, ect. As you can see I removed the base plate of the vase which reveals a double ring with Kangxi period mark. I also found a piece of paper with provenance under the base plate which as you can see says the vase was purchased in 1947 at French& Co for 125 dollars, it was then valued 33 years ago in 1980 at 2000 dollars, and is also noted as being a Kangxi period piece on the paperwork. The Vase came from the estate with these top quality gold gilt solid bronze mounts which display the vase beautifully and which has been rewired for practical use. The gilt mounts are of the finest quality I have seen. Other than being drilled to the base the vase is otherwise in fine original condition with no damage. The Vase itself is a nice large size example measuring 10 ½ inches tall, by 7 inches wide. The lamp measures in total 26 inches tall. This outstanding antique Chinese vase has a nice form and is decorated with greenish brown glazed bamboo around the body on a dark background. It also has various implements around the neck in the same greenish brown glaze and is trimmed with cobalt glaze along the edges and rim. It has impressed markings in the center of the bottom. It dates from the Kangxi period. Circa 1662- 1722 and measures approximately 13 inches tall by 4 + ½ inches square at the shoulder. 17th/18th CENTURY CHINESE BRONZE& CHAMPLEVE HEXAGONAL TAPERING VASE You are being offered a Very Old Chinese Bronze or possibly Brass Hexagonal or Six-Sided Tapering Vase with a Cylindrical Shaped Top Rim and Base and it is decorated with alternating Panels of Floral Scrolls and Diaper Patterns executed with Polychrome Enamels in the Champlevé Technique while the remainder of the Outside Surface is Gilded. It also appears the Enamel Filled Hollows were created by Hammering or Reverse Repousse and Chasing. And while the Inside of the Mouth and Neck are Gilded, the Interior of the Body appears to have several Metal Patches along with a Grey Coating of an Unknown Substance. Superb Chinese Porcelain Wucai Fam-Verte Vase 17th C. Transitional Shi Shi Dogs. Lotus Stems and Floral Motif Solid piece all the way around with some slight wear to the enamel and numerous rust spots throughout. Dimensions approx. 6.5" in height. 6.25" in width, opening(outter) about 3" and it weighs about 871 grams on my scale. Acquired recently from an auction of an estate of a very wealthy widow who was an avid collector of Chinese porcelain.
