This auction ends the evening of Sunday July 7th Up for auction is a Fine and Authentic Early ... more17th century Chinese Ming Dynasty Wanli period Wucai Enamel Porcelain Lidded Vase. The Vase is fully guaranteed to be an authentic period example. So please bid with Full Confidence. The Vase has a very interesting period design with yellow enamel Mythical Fu Lion Figures, along with Wucai enamel foliage all around. The Vase also has its original lid which is rarely still found with such pieces. The Vase shows some enamel wear throughout, and has a light 1 inch hairline to the top rim which can only be noticed upon close inspection, and which could be easily restored if desired. But overall for its early age the vase is in fine original condition with no other cracks, chips, or repairs. The Vase displays beautifully measuring 4 1/2 inches wide, by 7 1/2 inches tall. Such examples are getting very hard to come by and have been steadily and substantially increasing in value over the years. A Very Fine and Beautiful piece. Provenance: This Vase along with many of the other items listed are from the estate of a prominent family. The vase has been drilled and cut down made into a lamp which was most likely done some time in the earlier to mid 1900s period. However for its rarity I believe the vase should still be a desirable find. And if nothing else is a very fine period study piece, or decor lamp. The vase itself presently measures 7 3/4 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide. And the lamp measures in total 18 1/2 inches including the shade hardware. A fine and unique piece. The Vase is a fine and rarely seen authentic Kangxi period example. The Vase has a beautiful and vibrant powder blue glaze throughout. The Vases top rim has been ground down. The vase is otherwise in fine condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The Vase came from the estate on this very finely carved hardwood display stand which compliments the vase very nicely, and which will be included with it. I have seen similar stands of this very fine quality bring some good amounts just on their own so it is a very nice bonus addition to the vase. Which has then been made into a Scholars water pot most likely some time in the 18th or 19th century. The pot shows some wear and has a light hairline to the front, which is most likely why it was made into this pot. The pot is otherwise in good condition. The Water Pot measures 2 1/8 inches wide, by 1 1/8 inches deep, and 2 inches tall. The Pot came from the estate in this fine silk lined presentation box that will be included with it. The Vase has a nice period bottle form. The Vase has a rich and vibrant imperial yellow glaze, along with famille verte and aubergine glaze designs. As you can see there is an orange line to the vase body. At first I thought this to be on old repair but upon close inspection and also studying the line under UV black light it appears to be an original imperfection to the glaze that could be restored if one desired. The vase is otherwise in fine condition with no chips, cracks, or other imperfections. The Vase is a large size period example and is an impressive display piece measuring 8 3/4 inches wide, by 17 inches tall. I have been told similar examples to this have sold in the 20-30,000 dollar range when offered at the higher end sales. So although the vase does have the side glaze imperfection I believe it should still be a very desirable find and something that is not seen often. The dish is an incredible and very rarely seen Kangxi mark& period example. This dish is amazingly and extremely well potted of incredibly thin highly translucent eggshell porcelain. When put up to daylight or any light at all you can easily see right through this dish. This eggshell technic was perfected during the end of the Kangxi to Yongzheng reign. So this would indicate this dish was most likely produced between 1715-20 when many of the finest quality Kangxi imperial porcelain examples were produced going into the Yongzheng reign. Unfortunately the dish does have a light 1 1/2 inch hairline to the rim that can only be noticed upon very close inspection. The ram figure is a great and rarely seen Kangxi period example. The figure has a beautiful and rich multi-colored Sancai or Spinach and Egg glaze throughout. The ram came from the estate displayed on this very finely carved antique hardwood stand. The ram figure shows some small imperfections and wear to the glaze as should be found on an example of this early age. Overall the ram figure is in very fine original condition with no chips. Cracks, or repairs. The ram figure is a great display piece measuring 6 3/8 inches long by 3 1/2 inches wide, and 5 1/4 inches tall. The figure sits 6 1/2 inches tall with its stand. Late Ming dynasty Wanli period example. The Vase has a fine Wanli period garlic neck bottle form. The Vase has a rich and vibrant imperial yellow glaze along with famille verte and aubergine glaze dragon designs. As you can see there is an orange line to the vase body. At first I thought this to be on old repair but upon close inspection and also studying the line under UV black light it appears to be an original imperfection to the glaze that could be restored if one desired. The vase is otherwise in fine condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The Vase is a large size period example and is an impressive display piece measuring 17 inches tall, by 8 3/4 inches wide. This vase is a fine and fully guaranteed authentic Ming dynasty period example. This vase has very strong provenance along with other examples also from this collection. The vase was accessioned(sold) by the Carnegie Museum of Fine Arts in Pittsburg to raise money for new construction projects. This vase was acquired by the museum in the year 1956 from the Important George H Taber Asian arts collection. This vase was documented by George Taber and the Museum as being a late Ming dynasty example. The vase has George Taber’ s original collection inventory numbers in black. Along with the Museum inventory numbers in red. Mr. Taber is well noted as being a very knowledgeable high-end collector of Asian arts in the earlier 1900’ s period. 17thC CHINESE 17.4” LANGE LIJZEN MEI JEN HE XIANGU& CAIHE IMMORTALS VASE c1690 We respectfully ask that you only bid on this lot if you are serious about buying the item and intend to complete the transaction. Thank you. We offer you the opportunity to buy one of our recent acquisitions with which we are particularly pleased with. This takes the form of a seventeenth/ early eighteenth century 17 3/8 inches tall Chinese hard paste porcelain vase, the vase made in Jingdezhen is genuinely from the reign of Kangxi(c1662-1722) this example c1690(and not a nineteenth century copy) The vase is painted in steely cold sapphire blue enamel washes with a pleasing pattern which depicts a Long Eliza(Lange Lijzen in Dutch) The curiously elongated Chinese lady(Mei jen is the Chinese term) in a garden holding a fan and florets standing in front of a ... morezig zag fence. It is likely that the elongated woman is the Daoist Immortals He Xiangu and the other person, the short boyish looking figure, is Lan Caihe, also one of the Eight Daoist Immortals. The figural reserves are interspersed with panels of auspicious objects, prunus, lotus and other flower filled jardinières as pictured. The vase has a mark of an Artemisia leaf under the base within concentric blue circles as pictured. Condition, it displays very well but close inspection does reveal some significant damage, the neck is chipped/ reduced(albeit well disguised with wooden surround and lid) and the body has some significant repaired breaks and cracks, generally condition can be described as fair at best/ very damaged. This being said if this was near perfect it would be estimated in an Asian art sale in London, New York or Hong Kong at £6000/£8000 I venture.
