The pieces are decorated with hand painted enamels of elegant floral pattern. The foot rims are straw colored and slanted on the outside and straight on the inside. That. Together with the burst bubbles in the bottoms and the predominant pink/rose colors indicate that the plates were made during the 18th century. The items comes in overall good condition for their age. One of the plates has a small cracked piece on the rim(photos 4& 5) and few other small chips on the underside of the lips. The rim of the other plate is in better condition with very tiny chips. The paints are well-preserved with minimum paint lost like on photo# 7. Aside that. Normal for the age wear like small scratches, natural and firing flaws. The pieces are few hundred years old so if you have any concerns about their condition. Qianlong ... more1736-95 The Yongzheng emperor nominated his fourth son. Hongli. Meaning ‘Great Successor’, as his heir and he ruled from 1736 to 1796 as the Qianlong or ‘ eminent sovereign ’ emperor. He had been a great favorite of his grandfather. The Kangxi emperor, with whom he would go hunting as a boy. Some say that the Kangxi emperor chose Yongzheng as his successor so that he would eventually be succeeded by his grandson, although that would seem a rather risky prospect, as the Yongzheng emperor had ten sons(though only four survived into adulthood) When Qianlong was on the throne China was flourishing. But as he left the throne it was beginning to decline. The long reign of the Qianlong emperor(who retired in 1796, three years before his death) may be considered the height of the Qing. Though his Ten Great Campaigns were not all as successful as he claimed, he brought much of Central Asia under Qing rule, vastly increasing the size of his empire. The costs of his campaigns were met by an increase in cultivated land, with new crops, such as maize and peanuts, being grown and with firm controls on revenue collection. Well versed in Chinese culture, the Qianlong emperor is supposed to have written essays and as many as 42,000 poems. He developed the imperial collection, commissioning paintings and artefacts from Chinese and foreign artists, as well as collecting ancient Chinese objects and ordering the cataloguing of palace paintings and calligraphy. Like his grandfather Kangxi. The Qianlong emperor made five great tours of inspection of southern China, reversing the tradition of the Ming emperors who only left the Forbidden City to visit the imperial altars but did not venture outside Peking. This Qianlong Vessel is in a Class of it's own. This is arguably the finest piece of Chinese porcelain ever to be offered on the open market. Get your books out. Check your auction catalogs. Check every museum in the world see if you find a more beautiful or incredible piece anywhere in the world. This Qianlong Vessel has it all. There was so much skill in producing this Vessel it's a must see first hand to really appreciate it. The Vessel has many levels of decorations. The form is exquisite. The ground was blue then incised with a pin point in a wave like pattern. Then covered with gold. Areas of the ground have small rose colored blossoms. There is two panels that are so delicately painted you can't imagine the total control of the artist that did this piece. The painting in the panels has branches. The panel frames are in iron red and on the side there are two leaves in iron red with a cricket on each leaf. The vessel has two gold phoenix handles. There is very controlled droplets of white enamel highlighting the iron red throughout the piece. The inside and bottom are covered in a beautiful turquoise color. There are rectangular reserves with spiral key fret design in gold on each side depicting Mandarin figures There is an oval reserve with more figures below and another reserve above on the neck of the vase. Antique Chinese Marked Qing Dynasty Famille Rose Ginger Jar
Description- Offered for auction a antique hand painted with gilt hi-lighting famille rose ginger jar with foo dog top. We believe from the marking at the bottom of the vase that it might be Qing Dynasty Tao Quong(1821-1850) The porcelain is a light blue celadon color not white. It is decorated with flowers. Insects and symbols all raised from the glaze. The ginger jar measures approximately 18 1/2 inches tall and is about 10 inches at it's widest part. The piece is marked on the side, late Qing Dynasty circa 1880-1900. The vase is in great condition with no chips or cracks, although there is the little marks in the porcelain from when it was made(ash? The colors are fabulous!
