Superb Pair Chinese Blue& White Miniature Vases Guangxu Reign mark? This is a superb pair of Chinese blue and white lidded pots. Each vase is decorated with 2 panels showing flowers and insects. Although undoubtly a pair. Each of the 4 panels are fractionally different due to being hand painted. The panels are separated by a cell pattern, please see photographs. They are approximately 2.75 inches(7cm) tall. The bases carry a 6 character mark which is undoubtedly Qing Dynasty but I am not sure which Emporer. My best guess is Guangxu and if I am correct. She obtained her regent status upon the death of her husband, the Xianfeng Emperor, in 1861 and through Palace intrigue maintained it when her son died in 1873 and her grandson, the Guangxu Emperor ascended the Throne. The history of China from the last half of the 19th C through to the end of the Qing Dynasty traces her many actions and decisions which led to the end of Imperial China. A person who loved the arts. It is reputed, although not definitively shown, that Cixi designed a number of patterns of porcelain that were then manufactured at the Imperial kilns at Jingdezhen and ostensibly at a number of private kilns that could produce excellent wares. I have seen other period pieces with this beautiful“millefleurs” famille rose design but nothing remotely of this superb quality. The cup has a beautiful array of famille rose enamel colors throughout. The cup is superbly and thinly potted of pure white highly translucent porcelain. The vase has a neatly hand written Guangxu six-character mark to the base. The cup shows some light wear mainly to the upper gold gilt rim. But is overall in very fine original condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The Cup displays beautifully measuring 2 5/8 inches tall, by 3 3/8 inches wide. As you can see I found an identical pair that sold last year at Christies for just over 18,000USD. As I have been ordered by the estate lawyers the vase will be sold to the highest bidder with absolutely no reserves. Hu vase, Ming style blue and white; Guangxu, Yongzheng mark
Hu vase with bamboo scalloped lug handles. Dim: 18" X 12" Yongzheng mark. But Guanxgu period or a little later(1900- 1920) with foliate scrolls contained by upright lappets at the foot rim and ruyi-heads above. Transitioning sharply to an ascending shoulder with stylized floral scrolls intersected by a floral border; ruyi and standing leaf lappets transition to a softly invert rim with ruyi-heads. ANTIQUE CHINESE GILT FAMILLE ROSE IMPERIAL 100 BAT VASE - GUANGXU MARK & PERIOD
We are very proud to offer a Guangxu Period 100 Bat Vase. The design of 100 bats amongst clouds was particularly popular during the Guangxu Reign. And as such can be found on vases and other vessels of varying forms. Most often, this design is painted in the famille rose color palette. Very rarely do we see the design painted in varying shades of coral as we do with this vase. The chosen decoration of bats points us towards a possible meaning of this vase. The Chinese word for"bat" is"fu" which happens to be a homophone for"prosperity and good fortune" The pattern can be interpreted as an auspicious wish of"vast happiness piled up to the sky" This vase comes to us from the collection of a prominent New England collector who acquired it from Marvin Sadik Fine Arts in the 1960s. Marvin Sadik eventually ... morebecame the curator of the National Portrait Gallery and hobnobbed with the likes of Martin Luther Ling and Lady Johnson. Similar vases have sold at major auction houses such as Christie's for upwards of $43.000 and are surely only going to become more valuable as genuine Chinese antiques become harder to buy. The vase measures 39 cm tall. The vase is in very good condition with wear to the enamel and gilding. This wear appears genuine is consistent with examples that have sold at Christie's. ANTIQUE CHINESE PEACHBLOOM RED GLAZED GALLBLADDER BOTTLE VASE - GUANGXU MARK
We are pleased to offer a Chinese Peachbloom Bottle Vase. The vase is nicely potted with a round pear-shaped body that elegantly taper towards a long slender neck. This shape is often known as a gall-bladder vase. Or dan ping. The shape is not very common. The body is covered overall with a very well-fired peachbloom glaze. A uniform suffused rose pink color in tone. The glaze stops neatly above the footrim, with both the foot and inside being glazed white. A small amount of kiln dust can be seen in the white glaze. The underside of the foot is marked with a 20th century Guangxu reign mark. The vase is in very good condition. The inside is fairly clean. There is a slight orange/straw colored tinge to the foot, and there are some very minor scratches present at the widest section of the body. Antique Chinese Porcelain Dayazhai Style Vases- Famille Rose- Guangxu Mark From a private collection we offer a facing pair of antique Chinese Dayazhai. Empress Dowager style) porcelain vases with elephant mask handles. The globular body and neck of each vase is painted on both sides with famille rose enamels with a Hwamie bird perched on a branch amongst trailing wisteria beside floral sprays, both in bud and full flower, butterflies can be seen above the wisteria. There are formal decorative borders to the foot and top rim. The footrims of the vases are unglazed and there is a four character underglaze blue Guangxu mark to the base of both.
