Chinese characters can be found under the lid and at the bottom of this remarkable handmade piece. There is some wear at the handle on top of the lid. Otherwise, it is in very good shape. This particular piece was owned by an elderly Japanese woman who gave it to us many years ago. It has been in our family for decades.

FINE CHINESE MING-STYLE BLUE AND WHITE PEAR-SHAPED DRAGON VASE EARLY 20TH C.
Large pear-shaped vase painted in varying shades of blue around the body with a sinuous dragon flying amongst stylised clouds. There are vividly painted waves along the slightly flared bottom. A band of plantain leaves encircle the middle neck above a band of knobbed classic scrolls. The vase has five sections of decoration separated by thin double lines. The cobalt is of a deep purplish-blue tone with saturated"heaped and piled" spots of intense color. The vase measures 20-1/2" tall.

Description Up for auction is an Interesting Chinese Ming Dynasty Gold Gilt Bronze Buddha or Deity Figure. The Figure is a good and legitimate Ming Dynasty example. Which I was told would date from the early to mid Ming Dynasty period. The Figure is richly gold gilt and shows good and legitimate signs of early age throughout. The Figure is finely detailed including an interesting ox figural base. As you can see the top figure is removable, and one of the small foot mounting pins is missing. However the figure still sits nicely on top of the Ox with only the one peg, and it could be very easily replaced if one desired. The figure is otherwise in fine original condition with no other missing piece, or repairs. The Figure is a small almost miniature size example measuring 3 inches long, by 1 1/2 inches wide

The vase is painted in an early fifteenth century Imperial Ming dynasty flavour and bears the reign mark of Xuande(1426-1425) under the base but is early eighteenth century, highly probably Kangxi reign c1700. Is made from fine stoneware and underpainted with blue on light ground and glazed. Condition- this jar has been restored in 2 places- one place is around the rim where a greenish ... morematerial has been used to rebuild the top lip and then on the side there was a chip to the outer and inner surface and the outer area has been filled again with a filler. These look like professional area of conservation rather than restoration hides the damage. Here the conservation is obvious. There is also a small chip to lower rim. Rich colors used over white glazed ground. 4 section of paired dragons in cloud around the main body and decorated with flower and vein pattern. It has a 6 character blue Ming Wanli mark on its shoulder. Top rim has been wrapped with metal sheet for protection. This pot stands 390mm tall. The vase was noted in the collection as being of the Ming dynasty period. The vase has an interesting bronze like glaze throughout. The vase has carved designs with a beautiful meiping form. The vase shows some glaze wear but is overall in very fine original condition with no chips. Cracks, or repairs. The vase measures 3 3/4 inches wide, by 5 3/8 inches tall. The censer has a rich early patina throughout. The censer shows wear throughout consistent with an earlier example and has one small hole around the top rim area that could be restored if one desired. The censer is otherwise in fine condition. The vase was accessioned(sold) by the Carnegie Museum of Fine Arts in Pittsburg to raise money for new construction projects. This vase was acquired by the museum in the year 1956 from the Important George H Taber Asian arts collection. This vase was documented by George Taber and the Museum as being a late Ming dynasty example. The vase has George Taber’ s original collection inventory numbers in black. Along with the Museum inventory numbers in red. Mr. Taber is well noted as being a very knowledgeable high-end collector of Asian arts in the earlier 1900’ s period. I am told some of the earlier Ming examples were made without bases. The vase is overall in substantially good original condition for its age. the vase came from the estate displayed on this old hardwood stand. One of the stands feet are repaired but it is still a nice addition to the vase. The vase displays nicely and is a large size example measuring 6 1/8 inches wide. By 11 3/4 inches tall by itself, and 12 3/4 inches tall including the stand. The Buddha head is very finely made throughout with crisp details to the face really one of the nicest examples like this I have seen. I am told this head was purchased around 60 years ago at a New York gallery where it was sold as a Ming dynasty example. The head shows some wear and soil remnants most likely being a burial find. This head is also larger than is usually found and is a great display piece measuring 3 1/4 inches wide. By 7 1/2 inches tall by itself, and 10 1/2 inches tall including the stand. The Censer is a fine and unique example. The censer is superbly detailed throughout. I am told this censer would date from the Ming dynasty period. However to be safe for the auction I am selling the censer as a Ming to Qing dynasty period example. The censer has a beautiful rich patina throughout. The boy figure would have has a pin to securely hold the figure on top of the elephant that is missing but could be very easily replaced if desired. The boy still sits on top of the elephant without the pin. The censer is otherwise in fine original condition. The censer is a great display piece measuring 9 1/4 inches long. It is an antique chinese dish platet. It was painted a man sitting on a chair. Size diameter about 18cm Condition is good but there is small damage on the edge.
