Black, turquoise,red and white designs, gold gilt, heavily decorated with crane, flowers and other symbols. 21.75" tall x 14.5" wide weighs nearly 21 lbs! Excellent antique condition. The Vase has a nice period bottle form. The Vase has a rich and vibrant imperial yellow glaze, along with famille verte and aubergine glaze designs. As you can see there is an orange line to the vase body. At first I thought this to be on old repair but upon close inspection and also studying the line under UV black light it appears to be an original imperfection to the glaze that could be restored if one desired. The vase is otherwise in fine condition with no chips, cracks, or other imperfections. The Vase is a large size period example and is an impressive display piece measuring 8 3/4 inches wide, by 17 inches tall. I have been told similar examples to this have sold in the 20-30,000 dollar range when offered at the higher end sales. So although the vase does have the side glaze imperfection I believe it should still be a very desirable find and something that is not seen often. The mouse figure was documented in the collection as being a Song dynasty example but to be safe for the auction I am selling it as a Song to Ming dynasty piece. The mouse figure is carved of a beautiful hu of rare natural yellow jade. The jade has a beautiful softness to the carving from being handled for many decades. The mouse is simply carved throughout which is consistent with Song dynasty examples. The mouse also has a hole through the center that is square carved instead of round. The large globular lower bulb gracefully sweeping up to a smaller upper bulb, the lower bulb meticulously painted in soft pastel famille-rose enamels with peonies, attendant hibiscus flowers. All borne on a continuous meandering scrolling foliate vine. Also decorated with iron-red bats and peaches, candle with detailed design around, fishes in a bow like design.
