Here is a beautiful Chinese Famille Verte vase measuring 9& 3/4 inches high. I’m not sure if this vase is a period Kangxi vase or from the 1800s. In any case it is absolutely antique dating over 100 years old. It is entirely hand painted with a very delicate touch and good hand with overglaze enamels depicting birds and butterflies with several reserves. It has a Kangxi mark on the base in hand painted enameled black. This is a wheel turned vase and is in excellent condition, a few specks of iron in the clay and glaze at the mouth of the vase(see images) no damage or no repair, no chips no cracks. The vase is a very interesting and superbly hand painted example. The vase has a great Kangxi period design with imperial five-claw dragon and phoenix bird figure. The vase is also superbly painted around the top and base rims. The vase is superbly potted of very thin highly translucent eggshell porcelain like no other example I have seen. The vase has a very noticeable lightness to it and when light is placed in the neck the hole interior of the vase glows. The vase is signed with an underglazed blue Kangxi mark. This Kangxi mark is in seal script. Which is also rarely found. This vase very conservatively dates to the 19th century period and may even be a Kangxi mark& period example but not having seen another example quite like this I will let you decide for yourself. CONDITION: Very good condition. No chips or cracks. Some firing marks in places. DESCRIPTION: Chinese celadon ground. Famille verte vase. The front of the vase has been intricately painted to show cranes perched on branches with flowering blossoms. The back of the vase shows calligraphy and also red. Oval seal marks. This is a poem which translates as. one day there was a sunset. And an east wind came and it took a cloud from the spring sky. It is considerably heavy and also tall measuring 37cm height and 15cm base diameter. The base is unmarked and has darkened with age as shown. We believe it dates to the Kangxi period 1662-1722 or slightly later. Exquisitely painted by the artist. Important piece with low starting bid and no reserve. Glazed white ground with handpainted floral and foliage and insects and butterflies. Good condition there is one small flea bite from the inside top as can be seen and various pinprick/black specks in the glaze. No cracks or crazing. Marks to base as shown-made for export I think.
