We are pleased to offer this nice large antique Chinese blue and white porcelain vase. It is of square form. Each side panel is well decorated with antiques and good luck symbols. This vase dates to the 19th century. It includes a nice old stand which is missing the top section of one side. This vase stands a little over 13 1/2 inches tall. The side panels are about 4 1/4 inches across at the top. This vase weighs over 5 pounds. Overall the condition is very good. The only condition issue to note is that there are minor imperfections from the original manufacture of the vase. These are glaze bursts or bubbles mostly at the top rim( see some of the close up photos) There are no other chips, cracks or repairs. Important Rare Fine Huge Chinese Blue White Scenic Baluster Vase 17-18C Fine 2014 Chinese Collection Please Click on Pictures to Enlarge them Up for auction is a very old Excellent authentic old extremely rare example of a Blue and White Scenic Kangxi Vase. This vase displays a lot of traditional Kangxi period scenes. This is a very highly decorative scenic vase. In an unusual baluster form. The center of the bulbous body has four sections with scenes, each separated with a border of woven downward facing arrow patterns. It is a very interesting if you closely inspect the vase. You will see that there are four scenes, but there are really two different scenes that are each mirrored. So each scene has a double(another identical scene) and each pair is done in a mirror fashion. Two of the mirrored sections on the vase are filled up with plants ... moreand flowers. along with a Bird, Dragonfly, Butterfly, and a Moth. The other two identical mirrored sections have a scene with two hunters carrying their weapons while riding on horses. It appears that they are hunting a deer who is grazing on the grass. It is possible that the two hunters are actually Soldiers. They are all among rocks, hills, mountains, and trees. Above and below the scenes are highly decorative Lingzhi and floral shaped patterns that wrap around the vase. The neck of the vase, is decorated with a scene that displays mountains, rocks, hills, pine trees, houses, water, geese, a man and a fisherman. One man is out in the field in front of the houses, and on the other side of the neck of the vase, there is a man standing on a cliff above the ocean, while fishing. Before him there are three geese flying in a synchronized V shape. The bottom foot of the vase has more floral patterns that wrap all the way around the vase. Over-all this vase is in good antique condition. There are rust spots and pitting natural from make and age. Which is a good sign of the vases authenticity of age. The vase is a great and impressive example that I am told would date from the 18th to earlier 19th century period. The vase has an incredible robins egg blue and red flambe glaze throughout. The vase also has carved dragon figures. Which you do not see often on flambe examples. The vase came from the estate with this solid bronze base that was most likely added to the vase some time in the 19th century. As you can see the vase has a break and old repair to the top rim that could be restored if one desired. For its rarity and impressive beauty I thought this vase should still be a desirable find and a great period study example with no other damage or repairs. The vase is also one of the largest size examples I have seen measuring 17 1/2 inches tall, by 11 1/2 inches wide, and 20 inches tall including the bronze base. Offered in this sale is a pair of antique Chinese porcelain covered vases- jars- with foo dog finial that I believe date to the 19th century. They are both marked on the base with a four character painted under glaze mark which you can see illustrated in the 2nd image. They both measure roughly 8 1/2" tall. One is roughly 3 3/4" in diameter across the shoulder while the other is roughly 3 1/2" across the shoulder. They are decorated with alternating vertical panels. One which features a woman standing in a robe reading something she is holding in her hand and the other panel depicts a bird perched on a branch. At first glance these look almost perfect, however, I have looked these over carefully and it appears to me that the one vase that is slightly larger has very high quality restoration on the cover and the neck of the base and the other vase may also have restoration on the cover. I would say though, that the quality of the restoration is close to"invisible" or museum quality. Someone felt these were scarce enough to warrant investing in restoration of this caliber.
