The glass is arched and set into ... morea rectangular frame. I see no cracks or breaks. The frame is in good shape and is currently painted on both sides. It measures 63 inches wide. 16 inches tall and is 1.5 inches thick. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning but should clean up nicely. The frame has a chip at one corner and a crack at another. It is solid and sturdy. The glazing putty needs filled in around the edges. Someone added 4 screws at the top and a few nails to keep the window tight. Two eye bolts with 3-link chains were added in order to hang the window. You just need a couple of heavy-duty hooks and this window can be hung inside- in front of a transom window, an arched window, or any window that the sun shines in and that you want to add color to the room(there’s nothing like having the sun shine through a stained glass window, creating a colorful glow) Lead is soldered between each piece of stained glass(a thumbnail test showed nail indentation. So it is pure lead– or some other soft metal) The stained glass is arranged in a two-tone(English Muffle and smooth Cathedral textures) red cross with a small(just ... moreunder an inch diameter) amber jewel in the middle of the cross. There are 3 larger(1½“ diameter) amber jewels– one to the left, one to the right, and one under the cross. Blue ripple, reamy texture for sky or water surrounds the cross. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN OAK AND FROSTED GLASS TRANSOM WINDOW. MEDIUM WOOD TONE.
This is an old above door transom window. One side of glass is a frosted with a rippled texture while the other side is smooth. It is made out of a beautiful multi patterned medium oak color. It measures 26 long X 14 3/4" tall and 3/4" thick. The glass is set in the middle of the 3/4" width. As you can see from the picture. One of the strips that holds the glass in on the side is missing. It does not affect the glass moving. Also there is a Piece of wood missing on the end of the outside. The strip on the outside of the window needs a nail or two to hold it snug. It can be restored or you can use it as a decorative piece, or a cupboard door or medicine cabinet door. The wood is beautiful and has a nice hand finished look. No shellac. Lovely leaf and apple design make it really special– intensely colored slag pieces are in shades of caramel& creamy white. Green& red. It measures 52”w x 24 3/8”h x 1 5/8” thick. 1900's transom window manufactured by the Luxfer Glass Co. The Luxfor Glass Co. in association with Frank Lloyd Wright. Who designed some of their tiles. This flower or geometric design was the only one put into production and has a 1897 patent date. This partial window came from a bank in my hometown. It was damaged when removing and I made architectural type frame around the remaining undamaged window. The frame is made from old walnut. It has the same profile on both sides and is mitered at the corners. The window is inset in the frame and caulked. This makes the window solid as these tend to be wavy. Top coated with three coats of lacquer. There is one row of flower tiles at the top and one row three up from the bottom. I have close up images to show details. Tiles measure 4 by 4 inches. Yet a hint of winter is in the air. I created this abstract piece to convey the beautiful colors and gentle movement of the last of the falling leaves. At the heart of this panel is a special piece of American made. Hand rolled"fracture-streamer" glass in which thin pieces of fall colored glass appear to float in a clear background. Complimenting the fracture-streamer glass is a background of clear textured glass. Aptly known as"Granite" glass. Bright accents of yellow, orange and amber glasses add interest to the panel and provide a visual reminder of the glorious colors of Autumn leaves. Choosing the colors and textures of glass, and then cutting and fitting each piece together is such a calming, joyful experience- especially if a piece turns out the same way I envisioned it would.
