The frame(2” thick) is painted on both sides and is sturdy with no rotting or other condition issues. In the frame. It measures 65”w x 16”h and the measurement for the glass only is 60”w x 11 1/2”h. The border of the window is textured glass and the foliate pattern is done in a mix of textured and glue chip glass which is a technique where they sand blast the glass first. Then“paint” it with glue, then put it into a low fired kiln so when it’s fired, it actually“rips” the glass and creates the pattern. The lead veins are strong with no breakage or bowing. Multiple Original Victorian Era Window Locks in Cast Iron, Working, Patent 1887
Swing arm style Victorian era sash locks with a patent date imprinted of Dec. 27. 1887, in decorative cast iron. Lock bases measure 2 1/4" wide x 1 3/8" deep without the keeper which takes 2 1/4" x 3/4" to mount. The arm moves the swing catch into and out of the keeper. Because we salvaged these locks, we know that they are old. We have cleaned them of paint and grime and finished with a metal finish. These locks have been used but they are in good working condition and complete with keepers. All original. All the locks look like the lock pictured. Simple but elegant is the best way to describe this piece of art. I found this window in Decatur Illinois in the“Old Carr Home” on Powers Lane. I bow hunt there each year with family and in between hunts I check for glass in the many older Victorian homes. I took a picture of this window and on my return to Texas; I copied the design and put it to glass. It measures 11x25. The flower is done with a multicolored“Uroboros” surrounded by 4 other striking colors. The border is a multicolor blue and green and the interior has 2 matching iridescent. A clear and opaque to finish off the panel. I have taken many pictures to capture the true beauty of this piece. But pictures do not do it justice. It has been tastefully done using the Tiffany method with each piece of glass being cut by hand then soldered together before being bathed with a gold patina ... moreto give it a truly distinctive and professional look. Up for bid is a rare/unusual victorian fabric window shade. It is made from white cotton and measures 22 1/2" wide and is 61" long. It has a handmade lace insert of a dragon? and a bottom lace edge. There is a casing above the lace edge to insert a wooden slat and a finished opening in the center of this area to attach a pull cord. The distance from the top of the insert to the bottom edge is 18" This shade is in great condition. The fabric is substantial and could very well be used by attaching it to conventional spring loaded window shade hardware. The cotton has no holes or tears nor does the lace.
