Magnificent English Stained Glass Window
Magnificent English stained glass window attributed to Christopher Whitworth Whall(1849-1924) The window was obtained many years ago from the family of a nun who was associated with St. Margaret's Church and Hospital. And St. Mary's Infant Asylum in Dorchester, MA. Prior to that, there is no record as to where the window originated. Two stained glass experts agree that it is definitely English and probably the work of Whall or someone with whom he closely was associated. Since I have no further documentation, I am listing it as attributed to Whall or Whall school. Every detail of this window is superb and the coloration, particularly the blues is beautiful. From the Child's face to the eight birds surrounding him, the beauty of the window is awesome. It measures approximately 23" wide x 21" high(sight size) and 27" ... morewide x 25" high framed. It is housed in a simple pine stabilizing frame which could either be painted or stained, or replaced with another frame of the owner's choice.
