Especially the ones that come out of the old Churches, like this one. This is just incredible. It is an older window that is about 43" tall. It has a wood frame with the old white paint on the front and brown on the back. The paint is now chippy and peely for a perfect patina. It has the amazing arched window at the center with twelve colored glass panes all around it. The center has an awesome pattern that I believe like the old stencil in white. Not sure if this is considered stencil. The colored glass all around is gorgeous in different colors. The bottom glass pane on the left has some cracks or a little break, as I show in some close ups. There is only one pane with a break. There is a slight separation to the wood at the top, as I show. There is some missing window putty, but it appears solid. This is such a statement making piece that will be one of your favorite items in your own home. Don't pass it up! Great in any shabby chic, Victorian, Antique, romantic cottage or French country home. Measurements are about 43" tall by about 22" wide and 1 1/2" deep. It weighs about 12 pounds. Around the plates the glass is done in several different clear textured glass in a geometric pattern. The outside border is done in blue with white glass mix. The overall size of the panel is approximately 17 x 11. I want to note that the plates have a base about 1/2 high so the back side of the panel is not flat. This is to allow the front side to be flat to the edge of the plates where they then curve in for the plate. The panel can be hung in either direction as there rings in each corner. The patina on the solder is black and the frame is silver. All items are handmade by me using the Tiffany style of construction. Shipping: Insurance is included in shipping. RARE & Ornate 19th Century Stained & Painted Church Glass Window Sun Catcher
Up for auction is a rare extraordinary piece of stained and painted leaded glass that was removed from a Milwaukee. Wi. church that was torn down. It says in Latin Lamb of God and the crosses with the circles represent people's souls. The church was built in the 1800's. It was painted by a master craftsman and when hanging in the sunlight the souls look like their glowing. When this type of glass was painted it had to be kiln fired several times after it was painted to withstand the weather elements. I do not detect any paint loss. It is 2 feet X 23 inches. That is the way the glass was handmade. if you run your finger across what you think are the cracks it is totally smooth. If it was cracked you could feel the uneven sharp edge. This listing is for a pair of vintage or antique stained glass church windows. These are classic pieces that came from a Chicago estate. And we were told they came out of a turn of the century church on the south side of Chicago. These windows feature beautiful, multi-colored stained glass, with hand painted center panes that feature a chalice with Eucharist and a Cross and Crown. These windows are stained, glass/leaded glass/slag glass on one side with a layer of clear glass covering the other side. Each one is framed in a nice wood frame with eye-hooks on the top for easy hanging. These are beautiful items that would look great in a church, home, ... morerestaurant, or anywhere with great light that could make these windows glow! Dimensions: These windows are slightly different sizes. The windows appear to be the same size. With slightly different thickness on the frames. The chalice window is: 15 3/4" x 44" x 1 1/2" The cross and crown window is: 16" x 45" x 1 1/2" Condition: These windows are very old and in good condition for their age. The frames have some layers of paint that are peeling in spots. So you may want to strip and re-paint or stain them. One of the windows has some hardware still on the frame, including brackets and a doorknob, but the other does not have any hardware other than the eyelets on top. The glass is in good condition for its age. There are a few very light compression cracks inside some of the glass pieces near the edges(this is common for stained glass this old) There is a crack in the center pane of the chalice window that goes from side to side across the entire pane(this is hard to see when it is lit up) Overall these are in nice condition for their age. There is no doubt that this came from a church that had been torn down or renovated. This would have been on the lower window which could be opened for fresh air. It is believed this came from southern Illinois. That is all I know. The slag glass is quite thick and there are no breaks in the glass or ghe lead. Note the steel bar with wire twists across the class to support it. The glazing on the outside has had many patches and can easily be restored. But I would leave it as it is part of this window's history. The window measures 18 by 14 inches. This window was made in Germany in 1895. Brought to Pennsylvania by boat, placed on a covered wagon and brought to it's final destination in Kansas. A Methodist church. It was removed from the church in Kansas in 2010 and brought to Florida with us when we moved back. As expected with windows that are 117 years of age. There are small cracks and chips as expected. We even have 2 with bullet holes! This window is in excellent antique condition. There are some small chips in the wood and the there is of course original white paint on the outside that is old as expected. Other than that, it shows beautifully! The colors are vibrant! This window is NOT missing any glass sections. It is in excellent antique condition. The lead cames are strong too as is the barbed wire and metal rods. Nice heavy fir frame. Wood was scraped but not stripped, I'll leave it to the buyer to strip/stain the frame anyway they want. The window measures 32 inches wide by 65 inches tall. The window has 4 cracked pieces which can be replaced fairly easy. The colors in the window are just wonderful. This is a fantastic piece of history and makes a beautiful display. The window is sold as seen in picture and the price is firm. This is a gothic revival stained glass panel circa 1850 depicting the prayer"He shall enter into peace" It measures 63cm in height and 44cm in width. These panels were originally an extended quatrefoil shape. Which means"four leaves" And applies to general four-lobed shapes in various contexts. Antique Stained Glass Window Hand of God Salvaged New York Church 1800s
I bought this stained glass window about 15 years ago from an Antique Dealer in NYS who was also a friend. He purchased a estate of an old Victorian home that was being demolished and salvaged all doors. Windows and alike. This stained glass had been salvaged by the owners of the Victorian home from an old church and they had a door built around the stained glass of their beloved church. I have the door and have included two pictures of it. I am selling the glass and you are welcomed to have the door as well but. I do not have any of the missing panels on each corner and bottom; I lost them while moving. I've seen similar shapes in on-line pictures of old church stained glass windows that were in the rounded ceilings. The design on this appears to be a stylized hand of God. Unlike any other I have seen. This is for pick up or for you ... moreto arrange your own pick up because it is too fragile to ship. This stained glass is old. From the mid to late 1800s and it needs some TLC as you can see in the picture. There are 2 pieces of glass that are broken(see last 2 pictures before door) and some of the joints need to be redone. All the pieces are there though and the 2 rods for reinforcement in the back are there too. Overall Measurement: 46-1/2" long by 25-3/4" wide at its widest. RARE Leaded Stained Glass Window Blacksmith Hardware Frame Lock Stay Church
We believe from our research that this is at least an 18 th century window ~ possibly earlier. Windows can be difficult to date. I have included a link below to help you decide. I was told this window came out of an old church in Detroit. It could have been brought to historic Detroit with settlers from another country. Has been in storage for the last 30 years. Beautiful glass ~ has air bubbles. Wavy, swirls ~ no damage. Shades of green and clear rectangles. Metal frame. Original turnbuckle(handle, knob) and stay(the metal strip with holes that holds the window open to the desired width) The style shows these pieces were made by a blacksmith. There is a flat piece on the turnbuckle that locks the window. On the other side of the turnbuckle is a cutout“v” that locks the window in the open position just a little bit. THIS IS SUCH AN INCREDIBLE FIND AND IS AN OLD SALVAGED CHURCH STAINED GLASS WINDOW WITH AN ARCHED SHAPE THAT IS ABOUT 3 1/2 FEET TALL I love the old windows. Especially the ones that come out of the old Churches, like this one. This is just incredible. It is an older window that is about 43" tall. It has a wood frame with the old white paint on the front and brown on the back. The paint is now chippy and peely for a perfect patina. It has the amazing arched window at the center with twelve colored glass panes all around it. The center has an awesome pattern that I believe like the old stencil in white. Metropolitan United Church Stained Red Circle Glass After The Fine Canada
This auction is for a market find of a piece of glass that states it is from a church in Toronto. Metropolitan United Destroyed by Fire Twelve hours after the evening service of 30 January 1928- at which a sermon was preached on the text"the God that answereth by fire. Let him be God" the church caught fire and was gutted. The tower with its 23 bells, the narthex, the rear portion of the balcony and the brick walls were all that could be saved. The new church, designed by J. Gibb Morton and opened in December 1929.
