I am unsure if the glass in the mirror is original to the piece, but it is also in excellent condition. This sideboard has amazing carved details, and is very majestic, while being delicate and ornate at the same time. There are a few places in the top carved details where the wood is cracked and beginning to split. There is a small trim piece missing from the front top decorative piece, in the “dragon’s tail”. This can be seen in the photos. The top piece by itself is 40” tall, 48” wide, with the mirror being 23” wide, 29.25” top to bottom, the trim at the top of the piece is 51” wide. There is 11.5” from the shelf to the top overhang of the piece.

This fabulous 19th century sideboard has a wow presence for sure and is solid and tight and in excellent antique condition for being approximately 130 years or so old. There is a small piece of the grapevine carving missing at the tip end of the grape cluster on the crest, and a tiny piece of molding missing on the right side right above the marble(see next to last picture) and the left door does present with a slight age shrinkage separation in the center that is not very noticeable but there, all which I have tried to capture in the pictures, nothing major in my opinion but wanted to point them out. A Large Fine French Grand Buffet att. to Krieger or F. Linke c 1890 Bronze Dore
It's rare to find an item this fine on Ebay. Its also not common to find a buffet this fine in any of our great antique shops in this country or abroad. Here we offer it to you! The style is basically Louis XVI in inspiration. The trim is gold bronze ormolu that still retains it original bronze dore' finish. Though it appears that the ormolu mounts have not been cleaned. The veneer is fine French oak with a secondary wood also of oak. These grand pieces of furniture were very popular in the chateaux of France in the late 19th century. Though most of the Chateaux were in the renaissance revival style, they often had period style rooms. The dining room from which this buffet was taken may well have been completely designed by the architect. It is very likely that this piece was architect designed and is unique. That means that it may ... morewell be the only one in existence. It is 92 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 43 inches tall. The previous owner cut a hole in the center of the marble to fit a Sheryl Wagner lavatory. I conveniently covered the hole with a grand silver tray. I believe that the sink is still here in storage; I will provide it if I can find it. It makes the buffet quite theatrical! Weakened by the hole the top is cracked with a single clean fracture virtually invisible when slid together. The top is 2 inches thick and probably weighs around 600 pounds. Fortunately it is now in two pieces. I have not removed the ormolu mounts to search for a signature. Up till now I never dreamed that Id ever sell this. If time permits I'll remove a few mounts this week and see if by chance there is some signature on them and the attribution can be confirmed. I'll notify you in the listing. There are several makers working in Paris at the time that this piece was created that could well have made this. Without a signature and positive identification the city where it was made is speculative but the best guess is that it is Parisian. Who made it? I would attribute it to Krieger or perhaps Linke. for sale is a very nice antique solid quartersawn oak buffet made in 1904. it has a nice backspash with a carved crest and the original beveled mirror. it also features twisted legs and twisted columns as part of the back splash. it has double yoke stretcher which adds additional beauty to the piece and additional support to the legs which is really not needed i don't think. it is rock solid with no wiggles. Wobbles, loose joints, or any other issues to report that would be deemed detrimental to the buffet. it features abundant quartersawn oak flake over the entire piece. it has a long drawer across the top with dividers in it and two large drawers below it in the center and of course as you see two doors, one on either side, that expose a large storage area which has a half shelf which may be put in if desired. the i have the holder ... morepins for the shelves. all the locks are extremely clean and quite functional. the drops on the drawers are large and solid brass and are heavy since they are solid. the buffet is 60 inches wide, 39.5 inches to the top of the cabinet portion and 54.25 inches to the top of the crest of the back splash. it is 24 inches deep. it moves easily on its original metal casters. the piece is rock solid, all original with no missing parts or pieces and no repairs that is see. it is near mint condition. it matches a table i now have listed as well as a set of 6 chairs. i tried the set together with no luck, so i have busted it up and will sell the pieces separately. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. fyi. Horner did make one model that is as grand with griffins supporting the top and I've only heard of one selling in the past 6 years. This is a opportunity to buy a museum quality piece of American history that will not happen again for some time. We have restored it to its original grandeur and it has no apologies as you can see. Rarely can you stand 100% behind a piece that is 110+ years old to the extent I will with this one. I will shorten my description because the pictures really tell the tale. Starting at the bottom you have a massive base with bowed and projected center section and fluted drawers. On the ends stand full bodied griffins on the 45 degree angle and they are huge! Their heads are 5+" ... moreacross. That's the start, them moving up to the center section the curio top is supported by 4 massive ball and claw feet and carved ankles. Three beveled mirrors comprise the back filler section and this all supports this massive curio glass top. The top consists of a total of 12 beveled and mirrored glass' the bonnets are carved with radius doors and a arched hood then topped with a huge 16" carved lions head in the center. Within the arch is a carved frieze board with fighting griffins holding a carved crest of sorts. I'm trying to stop I promise but it's a exciting piece! The hardware is the heaviest detailed hardware I've seen on a piece with the greatest detail, carved lions heads and faces with manes. Every screw to every piece of hardware was there and we cleaned every piece and reapplied them. Fantastic piece that deserves the proper home. Listed for sale is this beautiful quarter sawn oak antique cabinet. Not sure what to call the style exactly. I have owned the item for 15 years and I bought it from an antique dealer in Tulsa. Ok. I was told it was from around 1860 and came out of a European church and held sacrament items and robes. Since, I have heard numerous other descriptions. We loved it, and have always called it our sideboard. I have tried to catch all the details in the pictures, if you look you will notice every carving is different, it had to be hand carved. All the dovetails look to be hand cut. I consider the piece to be in great condition. There is patina and character from years of enjoyment, but no structural issues, guaranteed. Have all the keys to the locks, and all the locks are supposed to be the original scroll locks. I would love to keep it, however, ... moreit is too big for our new location. I have never had it refinished, or ever put any wax on it. We have always kept it oiled regularly to keep the wood from drying out and splitting. The measurements of this lovely piece are: 92" 1/2 in length + 26" 1/4 in width + 38" 1/4 in height. The are a total of four doors. Two in the center and one on each side of the center. The marble is an amazing Italian purple vein& ivory color. the marble has had some minor crack restorations but it is in excellent shape. This piece has gorgeous grain and still retains its original DARK finish. Has two smaller drawers across the top and one large drawer across the middle. And cabinet with two doors below- all with original wooden knobs. Columns/pillars on either side of the mirror. It is in very good/excellent condition with some normal wear on the feet. Some small scuffs on the top(nothing major- the worst is shown) small nicks and scratches here and there, and the cabinet doors each need a latch. Otherwise great with maybe some dust. They just dont make furniture like they used to. This buffet(or sideboard) has extraordinary detail. Yet at the same time is simple and elegant. A straight cut top blends into the rolled front silverware and napkin drawers, curved front linen drawer, and bottom doors that conceal your finest china. The beautifully rolled legs go all the way down the sides for a majestic appearance. Brass knobs match brass key holes on all three drawers that lock away your special things for just the right occasion. One key fits all three drawers and it IS included. That's right, we DO have the original Eagle Lock Co. key! The silverware drawer is divided into three sections ... moreand is lined with the original green velvet. The napkin and linen drawers are not lined. The linen drawers offers tons of space so you can be sure all of your treasured tablecloths will fit. Two doors open on the bottom to reveal a large storage space that is more than adequate for your finest china. On the sides of the buffet you will find more gorgeous Tiger Oak and straight back legs that go from the top to the bottom of the buffet for a strong support. The back is finished with standard plywood and is original to the piece. Originally there was a top for the buffet but I do not have that piece, and to be quite honest I think the piece works much better with today's decor without the top. As you can see in the photos, the finish overall is nice, but it does have some nicks and chips in a few places, as can be expected with a piece that is almost 200 years old. It was refinished at some point. The discoloration on the sides is far less noticeable than it appears in the photos. Structurally, the buffet is in great shape, very strong. The condition of this cabinet would be considered excellent for its age, there is one wood shrinkage that goes across the width of the cabinet on the top of the base, this of course is not unusual for pieces this age and big, BUT the remainder is in outstanding condition with no other wood shrinkage issues, no breakage of carvings, there is however some slight staining, discoloration which again, is typical, but nothing that detracts the beauty of this piece, in fact it ... morejust authenticates its age and adds character.
