It was a heavy hand-held flatiron that was heated on a stove and then moved to the ironing board by a detachable wooden handle. The Monitor Sadiron. However, was a good improvement over the old-type sadiron. It had an attached handle and a gasoline tank built onto either the back or the front of the iron to provide continuous heat. D.A. Lake and his son. John, were the owners of the company that made the Monitor Sadiron. They received their patent for this special iron in 1903; and it’s been said that it was the Monitor Sadiron that first put Big Prairie on the map in Holmes County. The Sadiron factory itself was quite unique in that much of the original equipment was hand built by the Lake family and the factory was powered through an overhead pulley drive line. The Monitor Sadiron was of ingenious yet simple design. It was comprised of a shoe or ironing surface which was chromed and highly polished. The upper frame was a hollow casting into which white gasoline was injected under pressure to fuel a flame within the casting. The atomized liquid was injected through a brass casting called a generator which consisted of the casting and a needle-valve control to adjust the flow of the fuel. no international sales. For auction is a very rustic vintage wooden washboard. Measures about 24 inches high by 12.5 inches wide. The ridged plate feels like metal. One side reads, The Brass King Top Notch Sanitary Front Drain The Board Will Do The Work The other side reads, National Washboard Co. No 801 Trade Marks Reg. U.S.Pat.Off. Made In U.S.A. Chicago. Saginaw, Memphis The writing is faded. So I may have missed something. The board has a large diagonal split in the logo board that creates 2 parts. There are some holes in the metal plate. There appears to be many insect holes in the wood all over the washboard. I do not see any evidence of insects in the board anymore. It was purchased indoors and is inside the house now. Nails are rusty. I bought this board in poor condition. It looked as if it had been stored for years in a barn or ... moreoutside, exposed to birds, mice, insects, and who knows what else. I tried cleaning the board with water and paper towels, but there is still some dirt, mud and debris, especially in the crevices. Some places on the board were still damp when photos were taken, so the wood may actually be lighter in color when dry in some places than shown in the pictures. 2 wooden rungs are a little loose. There is a horizontal chip in the wood on top. The buyer may want to clean the board some more or leave it in its vintage. Rustic condition. Please ask any questions before bidding.

This Antique Firkin is in beautiful condition with the o riginal early wood patina and character. It has a wonderful aged finish and is in very good antique condition for its age. The Lid fits well and the handle folds up and down. It is large. Measuring just a little over 9" tall. The bottom measures 9 1/2" across and the top measures 8 3/4" across. It is quality built using brass nails and copper tacks instead of the usual staples. VERY NICE!

I've secured the top piece of an old beehive bobbin complete with steam holes to a rusty tin candle plate, then surrounded it with a ring of bold red pip berries. Above the pips is a snowman which I've fashioned from ANTIQUE linen fabric,aged to primfection. He has hand sewn French knot eyes, lightly blushing cheeks, a painted wooden"carrot" nose and tiny black buttons on his chest. A scarf made from red and tan homespun warms his neck and he has a round metal rimmed hang tag that I've stamped with a snowflake design and fastened on with a rusty safety pin. First I started with a cotton fabric that looks like grandma's old time quilt. The pattern is actually made to look like little quilt squares. The colors of the fabric are beautiful. Colors of rust. Navy blue, medium blue, black, green, and mustard yellow are flowing throughout. After these hearts are machine stitched and stuffed full of polyester fiberfill. I have put them through the prim process and dipped them in my special grunging solution of coffee and spices, then gently baked them in the oven for prim perfection! Each heart has a rusty safety pin and jingle bell secured in the center. Also included is a metal rimmed hang tag which reads. Live" Love" ... moreand"Laugh" I have tied a jute bow around each tag. This crock is 3 5/8 inches high. A base diameter of 2 1/8 inches and the top is 2 7/8 inches in diameter. It is in nice condition and has a great surface/patina. This Powder Horn measures about 7.25" long. As can be seen it has a hole in the side. Im not sure what the purpose was as I've not seen another like it. Im definitely not a powder horn expert however. It is clearly very old. The surface has a sheen from rubbing and wear. Lots of scratches and dings. But no cracks. It is a neat piece.

this is a 31 cal double ball mold is 2 cavity.this made of iron and does show its age seems to function fine. civil war era has no sprue cutter. And appears made that way the ball cavity look sharp and is used and you can see discoloration around out side of cavitys as evidence of heat. the cavities look clean and crisp this would make nice balls If you look carefully at picture you can see hit marks from making balls to knock them out. may have surface scratches as well as mold etch no major pin prick or pitting does show scattered freckling through out and grayish silver patina. edges are crisp with silvering from use and normal wear an tear. this a much better condition than you normally find this would be suitable for a cased set. this is not stamped or marked.is still very desirable and is a very early American made 31 cal mold ball ... moreor ball.circa 1860 to 1865.would have been used for colt 1849 pocket revolver or a bacon or Manhatton or even a Pepperbox cased set is all in 31 cal. 2 Balls only I ship to the world.

Antique Water Dipper - Tin plated hammered metal bowl
Excellent condition antique water dipper. 14 inches hard wood handle with copper tip w ring(did not test metal to confirm) Bowl is approximately 4.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall. The opening is 2.5 inches in diameter. It seems to be made out of tin. But the metal has not been tested. I did not find any marking on the piece. The bowl is not perfect. It has a couple of small indentures due to age or use.

A lot of three antique farm tools. Wall hangers. First is an Ice/Hay Bail/ Dung saw. Multiple uses from one tool. 36" long. Duel wooden handles. Used just like it sounds. In the winter it could be used on a pond or creek to gather blocks of ice. To feed livestock it was short work to cut through a bail of hay. And dung, dried hard like bricks, could be cut and broken up for fertilizer or even to burn. Condition, minor surface rust, and wear from use. The second. On the right in first photo, is a very old primitive crop sickle. This will actually predate many that are antiques themselves. This is blacksmith forged, and it is still sharp! Someone cared about their tools, as the discoloration you can see in the handle is from repetitive oil/grease applications to prevent rust! I believe, conservatively, this is no newer than 1870's ... moreand possibly up to twenty-twenty-five years older. It is between 40" and 41" long. Condition, minor surface rust, repairs during the period of use, wear from use. Finally. My favorite, a long handled corn knife. On left in first photo) I had to research this one, and I grew up in Iowa! I knew that corn knives were used to cut corn stalks to bundle them for use as fodder for farm animals. The blade, long and thin, matched ones I've seen. But, I've only seen short handled corn knives. Stands to reason you don't go making big wide swings in a corn field! And you don't need a wide, heavy blade. But, here it is, the only long handled corn knife I've ever seen! If that is what this is? I've seen Tobacco Knives with long handles, and can only think a blacksmith that was used to making tobacco knives thought this should have a long handle. I would date this right about the same time period as the crop sickle. A good clue to dating is that the area I found the items(barn finds) was settled in the mid 1840's up until the late 1870's.
