Primitive Old Wood Sugar Maple Firkin Bucket Gathering Pail Box Old Paint
Up for bids is an old wood maple sugar bucket pail gathering bucket with old thick mustard color paint. It has a make do old wire hanger on the one side near the top rim for hanging. It is constructed with two 3/4" wide metal bands holding eleven slats of wood together. All the slats of wood are notched together. It is in good used condition but looks like someone may have stenciled it at one time on the one side as I have tried to picture. The bottom of the bucket has old red and white paint as seen in the picture.On the sides of the bucket ther are small metal hooks which makes me think it may have had a metal handle at one time.The bucket measures 9 1/2" tall. Up for bidding is a SPLIT BAMBOO OR CANE WATER BUCKET with bamboo/can bands. Sides and bottom are constructed of split bamboo slats. In the bottom in the inside is stamped 1902 in red. It tapers at the bottom and is very sturdy. This is a nice addition to any antique setting and could be used in lots of decor options. Measurements: 10 1/2 inches tall by 13 1/4 inches in diameter Condition: Very good vintage condition. There are some spaces between slats and the bottom will remove probably due to drying. Antique Country Firkin Bucket Old estate find from the home of a collector. This is a nice antique Firkin, painted an old mustard color, the bucket has two narrow metal bands that hold the staves together. The firkin has a wire bale handle with a wood carrying handle and a fitted lid. The lid which has a wooden band has a nice wood patina, I'm not sure if the paint has worn off or if it was never painted. In very good antique condition, ready to use or display. ANTIQUE WOODEN WELL BUCKET PRIMITIVE IRON BAND RING WOOD WATER PAIL TOOL FIRKIN
I picked this gorgeous antique well bucket/ pail up at a small estate sale. The coloring is gorgeous. It has two small metal bands- one at the bottom of the bucket and one at the top- both are still secure. All wood slats are still secure although over time a gap has formed in between a couple of the slats. The thickness of the wood is 1/2" except of course where the wooden yolk/ handle with the metal ring runs through the center of the pail. I found a bucket similar that was for sold(I did an image search) over in Britain- they called it a Chinese bucket? This bucket or pail does appear to not be as commonly found. I sent a picture down to my parents who both believed that this is a well water pail and the rope to pull the pail up was attached through the metal ring. antique vintage old primitive painted wood firkin dry measure bucket
This is a small. Old, wooden firkin bucket measure. It's painted blue on the outside, dark green on the inside and bottom. It has 3 thumbtacks in the bottom edge to keep the piece directly off any surface. They look old to me. The piece is not watertight, so I imagine this was used for dry things. This is as found. It looks like it had a different color under the blue. I tried to show the surface, and the contrasting colors. I'm not an expert on antique firkins so please check the pictures. This was found in southeastern Pennsylvania. It's small and measures only 5" tall by 6" across the top tapering to 5" across the bottom. Antique decorated wood firkin/eagle/bird/flowers/fruits. Nice one.
This is a great firking with nicely decoarated designs. It has the eagle on top with wonderful design. And on the front it has a bird, flowers and fruit. The back is plain. The handle is decorated as well. It has a little condition issue on the handle where the button is. It appears someone had put tape on it as it was broken or split in the wood. I haven't cleaned the tape off so that is why in the pictures it looks whitish there. I picked it up by the handle and it stays but I would probably have it repaired. It measures 10" high on the outside and is 8 1/2 deep inside measurement. It has a 9" opening. Oh on the lid it has a tiny little crack like by the head of the eagle so please look at that picture. I'm not sure of the age but I think its a great piece. Primitive Vintage Vermont Made Wood Firkin - Pantry Box - 10" Tall
A vintage. Wood firkin made by Basketville, Putney, Vermont. 10" tall, base to lid, with the wood handle extending an additional 5" from the lid. Firkin has a slight taper to it, the diameter being 10 1/2" on the base, and 9 1/2" diameter at the top. Structurally sturdy. 2 spots of gouged wood at the base(1 spot shown in last pic of listing) Scuffs and surface scratches, also. No wood warpage, and lid fits well. There age appropriate signs of wear from use. The bucket is still solid and tight. There are three shaker style finger strap bands around the bucket and one around the lid. They are secured with the original nails. The bucket. Handle, and lid all have the natural original wood finish. Hello. Up for auction this beautiful wooden container, commonly referred to as a firkin nowadays. Though firkins were technically a measurement used in the UK to measure beer, somewhere between 10-11 gallons) we now seem to use the term firkin to describe any old wooden barrel that could have stored sugar, lard, butter, or even soap. This one is 12" on the top and 13" on the bottom giving it a nice cone shape.and it's 13" tall) It's funny that the pictures don't show the shape very well, maybe it was the downward angle of the camera, but looking at it in person you can clearly see the bottom it wider than the top. It still has a slightly waxy feeling to it. So it may have had soap in it, or the wax was used to seal whatever was in it to keep it from spoiling. Early Antique Wood Firkin Sugar Bucket with Original Slat Wood Lid
For your consideration is a beautiful. Early. Antique Wood Firkin/Sugar Bucket that is 11 inches tall(handle adds an additional 4-7/8" to height) top is 11-3/4" in diameter and the base is 12-1/2" in diameter. Due to age and use this bucket has some issues. Some time ago someone repaired the bottom of the bucket with some kind of sealant or glue(picture 7) There is also some of the sealant or glue on the inside of the bucket(picture 12) A piece of the wood on the bottom band at the base of the bucket broke off and there is a split which also looks like it was repaired. The slat wood top has the mushroom pegs and the handle rubs a little when you raise if up so there is surface wear on the handle from this. The lid also has some wood that has broken off the bottom edge, some age splits, few missing nails, and a chip in the wood. ... moreon top The lid is made from two pieces of wood with the slats nailed across the top. This large item is in good condition other than the chippy paint and usual wear. There are no breaks or damage. The lid does not fit down into the top very well. I did not want to force. Very cute rustic/vintage primitive wooden half barrel/bucket with confectioners sugar label and wire and wooden handle. Bucket has neat large bright blue label on one of it's sides that states"High Grade Confectioner's Sugar" Maker's name part of the label is worn off. Bucket is a nice large size measuring 1 foot tall and at the barrel's widest part from side to side measures 15 inches. The bottom and smallest part of the barrel's width measures 10 inches across. Bucket is in fair structural condition and will need the bottom portion of the bucket to be reinforced upon purchase and the bottom wire that holds all pieces of the barrel together will need tightened in order to sturdy up the barrels structure.but all of the pieces are in tact and included. Vintage Shaker Sugar Bucket/ Firkin ~ Wood Sugar Pail with Lid
You are bidding on a vintage Shaker firkin. It appears to have its original lid and bent wood handle. Handle pivots on two large button pegs. The lid is flat and there is no finial. The band encircling the top is 1 1/8 inches tall. The underside of the handle appears to show ware. The edges of the handle have been thinned through years of use. There are no manufacturing marks on it. It is nailed not stapled. It stands 9 ¾ inches lidded. It is 10 inches across its base and it is 9 inches across its top when the lid is removed. 14 inches tall when handle is in the upright position. There are two bands holding it together. There is some chipping on the bands tails. The bottom has a split as a result of shrinkage. Piece appears never to have been painted. Color is rich. Up for bid is an early. Wood, Firkin/Sugar Bucket with a folk art painted design and beautiful patina. The bucket measures 11-1/2" tall(handle adds an additional 4-1/2" to the height) base is 10-1/4" in diameter and top is 9-1/4" in diameter(tall and narrow) Due to age and use there is some surface wear such as dings, scratches, age splits, chips. The handle has a small spot that has started to crack but does not go all the way through(picture5) Piece of wood is missing on one side where the mushroom handle is attached(pictures 4, 7& 8) which does not compromise the handle. The handle is very strong and sturdy. Bucket has a nice folk art painted design(early but not original) and is made with round head nails.
