The size is nice in that it's not to big or to small for your collection and/or also good as a project to polish up and resell to collectors. The lid is solid no cracks, the tongue and groove isn't tight a little loose but not that noticeable. Nice solid piece, overall could use a good oil or refinishing for top quality antique store or auctions. Wood is a pine, no paint walnut brown all original.

Beautiful piece with a time-worn, lovely patina. This firkin is in excellent condition, see photos and read description in full for details as to the condition as we want to be as descriptive as possible. Please ask questions as our items are not sent on approval. This firkin is large and measures: 11 1/2" diameter at top with 12 1/4" diameter at bottom. It is 11 3/4" tall without handle and approx. 17 3/4" tall with handle in its upright position. The paint is worn in some areas. normal for antique items) the art work tole paint is folk art that was handpainted. The main, background color is a bluish green color. Antique 19th C Small Wooden Firkin w Handle & Great Untouched Patina
A antique 19th century handled small wooden firkin which has its wonderful untouched nut brown patina. The firkin measures approximately 6 1/2" tall not including its handle and has diamond shaped bail plates along with its original wire and wood handle. The firkin has copper tacks on the lap fingers and wooden square pegs securing the round top to the sides of the lid. Condition- all original with great untouched patina. There is a small crack at the top edge of the lid which could be easily fixed and some general wear as shown but nothing to excess. Antique Wooden Banded FIRKIN SUGAR BUCKET 9 3/4" high with Lid and Handle Shaker
Here is a wonderful antique firkin or sugar bucket. Large in size at 9 3/4" high(not including handle) and 9 1/2" diameter at top and 10 1/8" diameter at bottom. The wood slats held in place by tongue and groove are about 1/2" thick and are of various widths. The 3 wood bands- one at the top and two at the bottom encircle the slats and are 1" wide. The wood handle is attached by wood pegs and is 4 1/4" above the lid. Excellent antique condition with a nice old patina; some staining. Minor wear from use; the slats are a bit loose. ANTIQUE WOODEN WELL BUCKET PRIMITIVE IRON BAND RING WOOD WATER PAIL TOOL FIRKIN
I picked this gorgeous antique well bucket/ pail up at a small estate sale. The coloring is gorgeous. It has two small metal bands- one at the bottom of the bucket and one at the top- both are still secure. All wood slats are still secure although over time a gap has formed in between a couple of the slats. The thickness of the wood is 1/2" except of course where the wooden yolk/ handle with the metal ring runs through the center of the pail. I found a bucket similar that was for sold(I did an image search) over in Britain- they called it a Chinese bucket? This bucket or pail does appear to not be as commonly found. I sent a picture down to my parents who both believed that this is a well water pail and the rope to pull the pail up was attached through the metal ring. Antique Primitive Wooden Firkin Sugar Bucket Lamp 12"T Handle Stenciled "37Xx"
This antique primitive wooden bucket is a firkin. Or sugar bucket and was made in the late Victorian Period(1880's to 1900's) It is in a natural wood tone with varnish, or some other finish applied, but not paint. It has been converted into a lamp, as shown in the photographs, and comes to you WITHOUT a shade. The lamp light does work and the wiring is in good condition. The handle has"37XX" stenciled upon it. The whole piece is in good, antique condition, having some bumps and bruises here and there as evidenced in the photographs. The worst of these are the chips of wood missing from the base and the crack/split in the lid. There are three holes drilled into the bucket, one was drilled for the lamp cord, and two were drilled to affix the lamp hardware to the wooden bucket. This is a no-reserve auction for an original 1800's early antique wooden firkin sugar bucket with bentwood handle and lid. The base of the bucket is 10" Stands 9.5" high. There age appropriate signs of wear from use. The bucket is still solid and tight. There are three shaker style finger strap bands around the bucket and one around the lid. They are secured with the original nails. The bucket. Handle, and lid all have the natural original wood finish. Notice an old split in the top of the lid that has been glued on the inside. 1 copper/brass nail is missing from the top strap. 19th Century New England Wooden Firkin in Original Apple Green Paint, No Reserve
An excellent 19th century New England painted wood firkin in original apple green paint. C. 1880. The painted surface on this piece is amazing and completely untouched. It is signed on the lid, B.R. Jenkins. This was recently found at an early estate here on Long Island& probably originated somewhere in New England. The finger laps are held in place with copper tacks, the wooden swing handle is mortised through the sides& held in place with mushroom shaped pegs. It has an early repair to the lid& on one side where the handle is secured(see pictures) There is wear to the surface. Though i t is in untouched condition with an excellent surface& patina. The lid never had sides. As there are no holes where it would have been held in place& the top of the firkin doesn't show signs of wear. There are metal straps that hold the wood together with either dark brown or red paint that is only half way there now. The staves on the sides are a little loose- NOT so loose they fall out- when sitting it is fine. It looks great as it is- original. The bucket measures 11" high x 9" diameter. It weighs 4 lbs. I'll leave that up to the collectors, the swing handle is dowel construction, bend nail over fingered bent wood and tongue and groove construction. The size is nice in that it's not to big or to small for your collection and/or also good as a project to polish up and resell to collectors. The lid is solid no cracks, the tongue and groove isn't tight a little loose but not that noticeable. Nice solid piece, overall could use a good oil or refinishing for top quality antique store or auctions. Wood is a pine, no paint walnut brown all original.
