The real slate measures 17 1/4" x 11 1/4" while the entire piece measures about 20 3/4" x 14 3/4" The wooden frame may be maple or another hardwood with a nice patina and grain to it. It has mortise& tenon corners with a beveled edge where the wood meets the slate. The slate is in fair condition. The photos show cracks in the slate, it is still solid. The frame and slate are original to this piece and have only been cleaned. We have for sale a small old primitive schoolhouse wood framed slate blackboard with chalk tray. It has age wear. And the slate has some scratches, more on the back side. There is a small hole in the upper left corner. The slate moves back and forth about 1/4" inside the frame, should not be a issue if you are going to attach to the wall or sit someplace stationary. Antique wood framed school slate ND1998
Antique wood framed 12" x 8 1/2" school student slate. The frame has a beautiful dark patina. The corners are mortise and tenoned and held together with tiny wooden pegs. One wooden peg was missing making the corner loose which unfortunately led to the slate being cracked. The peg has been rplaced and the frame is stable. The wooden handle measures 31" long x 1 1/2" wide x 3" across at the end. The wood is well worn& crude. The iron part is about 8" long and tapers down to about 1/8" at the point and is flattened to the tip. There is an iron pin that holds the 8" piece in as shown. This is an oddity! We have for sale a Vintage Antique Cast Iron Cigar Tobacco Press Tool for Wood Molds Slate Blue Finish. This was an estate find. Cranked down completely this press measures 17-1/2 inches in height. With the base being 11 inches by 8 inches. As you can see from the photos it has a nice blue gray finish. It's in very nice operational condition, cranks up and down easily, the handle operates nicely. There is a little surface rust here and there but not bad at all, most could probably be cleaned off. Other than the number 18 on the circular disk I could not find any other makers marks. This press displays very nicely and would look great in your home. The press weighs approximately 25 pounds. The Slate is roofing slates age unknown but very old reclaimed from the New England area. The corners are constructed using mortise and tenon joinery. Each board is handmade and unique and as the wood and slate are antiques there may be imperfections that you would not see in machine made product. The Slates have been left in their original reclaimed condition to show the true character of these one of a kind pieces so these are not as machined smooth as a store bought mass produced item. Please also note that while we give the smoothest side a light sanding to make it usable for chalk. Antique slate school house chalkboard 2-sided wood frame old
Antique 2-sided school slate chalkboard. A small portion of the inside of the wood frame is broken off on one side of the frame. As can be seen in the pictures. There is some children's writing on the frame on one side. There is a piece of wire connected through a hole to hang it from. One side of the frame has been notched with string placed tightly in the notch to help hold the frame in place. The other corner is missing the string. I'm not sure how old this is, maybe about 100 years, but it looks pretty good for it's age, and still in nice working condition. Please message me with any question you may have. Primitive Antique Original Thick Slate Wood Framed Blackboard This is for an antique thick slate wood framed blackboard. Original antique. Not a reproduction. This blackboard is made of thick, very heavy slate. The frame is original wood and it has years of past lives depicted in its original wood with original patina and surface. Original yellow milk paint is on the wood, which makes this board even more original and exciting for the collector or for the person who loves decorating their space with original antique primitive items. Measures: 27" long by 20 3/4" wide x 1" frame. This item is heavy. The top of the frame has two hooks to hang. The chalk board is two-sided. The slate on one side is clean the other side has a few tiny scratches on the surface and the words family tree is very faintly on the board. I am sure it ... morewill clean up beautifully. The overall condition of this two sided slate board is in excellent. Clean condition with a perfect surface for continued writing. The wood frame is original. Painted in original yellow/mustard milk paint. The wood frame has normal antique surface wear such as dings, scratches, chippy paint etc. there is a small off-white line of what appears to be a paint line drip on one edge of the wood. The frame is firmly attached to the board with original antique nails. On one side of the board the frame on one side is missing the quarter round. The quarter round is on 3 sides only. However. This missing piece does not compromise the integrity of the board at all. It is still firmly in place. On the other side the quarter rounds are on all four sides. The wood frame moves ever so slightly, it is not tight, but has a bit of movement in it even thought the board is firmly in place. Please see all photos and ask questions. This item is very. This auction is for a late 1800s or very early 1900s schoolhouse lap desk with practice drawing cards. These 6 cards slide into the top of the piece and are double-sided. The slate board is also double-sided. It was manufactured by C.C. Shepherd's of New York. And has patents from the 1870s. It is in overall good condition, with minor damage. In the 9th image you can see some small cracks in the slate, but it is not loose. Also, the eyelet which the hook slides into to secure the lid is missing. The dimension of the largest part(lid) are 10 3/4" by 7 3/4"

This Antique Painted Lock Box is Late 1800's. Early 1900's. It has great hardware. Lots of design on heavy duty cast iron handle. Nice lockable hasp. Box made very well with shelf inside. Very sturdy. No breaks or damage. Slate black paint. Measures 16" long x 6" tall x 12" deep.
