Unique Solid BONNIE SCOTLAND with THISTLE Harness Brass from England Gift Idea!
Horse brasses were used to adorn the harness horses. Primarily in the UK, many would identify the route, simply for decoration, royalty, different industries such as train or brewery and some, I am sure, were just made out of fondness for a likeness or animal. Some older brasses were worn on harness, others were just made primarily to commemorate a certain event. It is hard to date many of the harness brasses, yet you can get an idea from the patina as well as how well the brass is cast. You can sometimes tell from the darkness on the reverse, from the brass slapping against the leather of the harness, but some people clean their brasses often, so this is not always a tell tale sign. Stamped brasses are from the early 1900's and only up to the 1930's. Most brasses you come across were cast and often the getts(the holder for the casting) ... moreis left partly on the back of the brass. I find horse brasses lovely and intriguing. All of the brasses I offer for sale are from England. Here is a solid BONNIE SCOTLAND WITH THISTLE Horse Harness Brass from England. Great patina on this vintage piece. Perfect for your collection or a very unique gift idea! This measures 3" X 3 1/2" Please check out my other items if you have time and thanks for looking! 4MIKE: RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*55267%60%3E-13e8d1c06d9-0xf1-

British Civil Defence Badge, Post-1945, Scotland
British Civil Defence Badge. Post-1945, Scotland The British Civil Defence system was put in place early in World War II. And was dismantled quickly once the threat of continued air attack from Germany faded away. But with the coming of the Cold War the CD was revived, and in Scotland personnel of the postwar Civil Defence Corps wore this patch on the pockets of their dark blue uniforms and on their blue wool berets. This is a King's crown patch. Worn until 1952. The seated lion with sword and mace identifies this as being for the CD units in Scotland. Unused condition, 3-1/4" tall. Antique 19thC 1 1/4ct Smoky Quartz Cairngorm Scotland Magic Gemstone
Antique Handcrafted Genuine Natural Smoky Quartz Crystal Faceted Pear from Mount Cairngorm. Scotland. CLASSIFICATION: Smoky Quartz Faceted Pear. ORIGIN: Mount Cairngorm. Scotland. 19th Century. Handcut in or near Yekaterinburg, Russia, 19th Century. SIZE: Length: 9mm. Width: 6mm. Depth: 4mm. All measurements approximate. WEIGHT: 1.25 carats. NOTES: Upon request we can set your gemstones as a ring. Pendant, or as earrings(click for more information) DETAIL: Ancient cultures attributed many mystical properties to quartz crystals. They were particularly used in sorcery. Magic, and witchcraft in part due to the"secret magical powers" evidenced by the weak electrical charge quartz crystals carry. Here's a very uncommon semi-precious gemstone from Victorian-era Scotland, specifically Mount Cairngorm. Very popular in 18th and 19th ... morecentury Victorian Scotland, this gemstone is known either as“Smoky” or“Cairngorm” Quartz. Generally“crystal” clear, the smoky tone is caused by the natural radiation emanating from granite stone the quartz is exposed to while buried in the earth. This is a very handsome, very large pear cut smoky quartz crystal gemstone. This particular specimen is completely transparent, with beautiful sparkle and luster. It is exceptionally clean, water clear, and very bright. It is gorgeous smoky brown color. The gemstone was hand crafted and faceted by a 19th century Russian artisan, part of an heritage renown for the production of the elaborate gemstones and jewelry of the Czars of Medieval, Renaissance, and Victorian Russia. Under magnification the gemstone shows the unmistakable characteristics of having been hand crafted. The coarseness of the 19th century finish is considered appealing to most gemstone collectors. And is not considered a detriment, or detract from the value of a gemstone. These characteristics are not only expected of hand-finished gemstones, most serious collectors consider such gemstones more desirable, possessed of greater character and uniqueness when compared to tod

1920 Bartholomew Map - Road Map of Scotland on cloth.
1920 Bartholomew Map- Road Map of Scotland on cloth. This map is a bit battered and bruised. One small cycle route has been inked in but this doesn't detract from the detail. There are a lot of tiny holes were the crease lines meet and some pencil annotations in the margins with a signature on the front cover. Having said all that the map is whole and still a nice example for something that's 90 + years old. g.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk%601d72f%2Bjw%60hquvg%3Eg-13e9c9b3d79-0xfe-

PORTUGAL ITALIA GREAT BRITAIN orders appears during the first Crusades: their members were usually monks who also served as soldiers or caretakers to protect pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land. Or otherwise assist in the struggle against infidels. The most famous orders in this category are the Order of the Temple, the. The Order of the Holy Sepulchre, the Order of Saint-Lazarus, all four originating in Palestine. These orders typically ... morehad chaplains, knights and sargents, mirroring the tripartite medieval society. The orders in the Holy Land were often the recipients of many donations. Often in the form of estates, in all of Europe. As a result, they had to create a structure to administer these estates locally(a commendator was originally a trustee of such an estate. Word later corrupted into commander) Thus, orders such as Malta, Saint-Lazarus and others became by nature far-flung, with estates and their administrators in various European countries, and the Order itself in the Middle East. After the final expulsion of the Franks from Palestine in 1291. These orders either found new bases and activities, or else fell into oblivion. Naturally, their vast estates represented tempting targets, either for outright confiscation(the Order of the Temple was abolished by the Pope in 1312 at the instigation of the French king just for that reason; likewise, Henry VIII confiscated the estates of Malta in England) or else simply subjection of the order to the local sovereign so that its estates could be used as a source of favors and pensions. This was in essence the fate of the Order of Saint-Lazarus. Only Malta

Lord Thomas MacAuley signed letter 1853 re Scotland Amnesty Tax & PM Aberdeen
LORD THOMAS B. MacAULEY(1800-1895) MacAuley was an English politician. Historian and poet. ALS. 3pp. 4 ¼” x 7” June 4. 1853. Albany[United Kingdom] An autograph letter signed“ T B MacAuley” to Lord John: The Lord Provost[Duncan McLaren] and two Baillies from Edinburgh wanted or had Aberdeen[who was Prime Minister then] today on the subject of the Amnesty Tax. They wish to see you on Monday. And I hope that they will be able to do so. I am forced to go to Oxford, or I would accompany them. Their object it to induce you to let their bill be brought in as a government bill either by the Lord Advocate or by Charteris. If you could consent to this, you would make the ministry very popular at Edinburgh, and I think that you might do so with much less risk than you would have incurred six weeks ago. The Lord Provost will tell you his story ... morevery clearly and concisely, and I hope that you will be able to give him a satisfactory answer. The letter has light mat burn around a couple edges and mailing folds. TERMS AND CONDITIONS My name is Stuart Lutz and I am a full time dealer of autographs. In consequence of these mergers, the Company changed its name in May 1843, becoming the Union Bank of Scotland. For the next several years. The bank grew at a steady rate. By 1857, the Union Bank had 97 branches; this was more than any other bank in Scotland. But for all his efforts, by 1919, it was evident that the Bank was in difficulties. Its fortunes were inextricably linked with the rise and fall of heavy industry. It had lent exte

E1/P5 - Regimental Uniform Print British Scotland Military Royal Scots Fusiliers
This is one of a series of 36 regimental uniform prints that came from a local estate. They were issues in editions of 6 in 1942-3. We have the first four editions. Or 24 unique prints, and we have 12 extras. The extras are due to the fact we have an extra set of the first two editions. The heading of each listing refer to the Edition and Print numbers. For example, edition 1 print 1 is referred to in the heading as E1/P1. These pieces are printed on heavy paper and measure 9 3/4" wide and 12 3/4" tall. They all have vibrant colors and are marked with the name of the regimental uniform in script at the center below each image. In the bottom left corner of each print is a common series of identification numbers by the printer. They are all in excellent condition for their age. There is little, if any, fading and no tears. However, ... morea few of the images are a little dirty along the edges due to storage. These are perfect for framing in groups. We are selling these pieces individually, but we will combine multiple purchases for savings on shipping costs. Cost to ship one print in Continental U.S. is $3.00. But up to 6 can ship for the same cost. C52492)
