Two ivory colored antique pillowcases that are Irish linen. They each measure about 33 x 21 inches. Neither of them have ever been used and have been in storage for many decades. They are hand thread drawn and registered Irish Linen. One of them has a few light brownish marks(see photos) I'm not sure what these are. As they have never been used. It displays precise even stitches. 10-11 stitches to the inch. It is hand pieced and quilted with basket and flower quilting along the border and cable, outline and scallop quilting on the interior. Antique Irish bog oak owl thimble case holder treen etui19th
This thimble case is in the shape of an owl and is 2 7/8 inches tall. It is made of bog oak. The head is removable and a thimble can be placed inside. It has a portion that sticks out near the bottom that looks like a branch. The top is hand carved and the bottom is hand turned. It is likely from Ireland and dates to the 1890’s. WALTON'S IRISH LAP HARP travel therapy antique collectible rare toy Celtic music
Hello. This is a nice, very small, fully-playable lap harp. The inscription on the mounted metal plate reads: Brian Boru Miniature Irish Harp No. 1122 Made by Waltons Dublin" I tried to get a good close-up in the pictures of the plaque) This little harp has 15 strings, with a range of two octaves, starting at the 5th line treble clef F, and going up to the highest F above; at first I thought this harp was originally strung entirely in gut strings, but now I'm thinking they are all nylons, as they are shiny on the ends where they wind to the peg(perhaps the strings were old and needed cleaning? I measured the string gauges with micrometers to create a stringing chart(D-F.022, G-C.025, E-F.028, C-D.032, and F-B.036) and replaced the lower octave with nylon monofilaments(would have changed the upper octave but did not have the gauges ... morehandy, though they all tune up fine, and if I find some more strings of the correct gauges around the house, I will put them on) The string spacing is more or less the same compared to other lap harps(not narrow) and the string tension is light, as is the instrument itself(appx. 18" from tip to toe) This harp also features through tuning-pegs which once tuned hold their pitch just fine, and I played several songs on this little harp despite its shorter range of two octaves. Although not included with this auction, a regular lap-harp/zither tuning wrench fits the tuning-pegs PERFECTLY! Overall condition is good, but as you would expect from an antique, there are some cosmetic issues from use, which are really only more noticeable on closer inspection. The woods on this harp have a very nice grain pattern, as I tried to capture in the pictures. I also made a little video of me playing a few songs on the harp. Antique Irish Linen Tablecloth Handmade Tenerife Lace Hemstitch This is a beautiful vintage tablecloth made with crisp Irish linen. Medium weight. The color is light ecru. There is a border of needle weaving with tiny inserts of Tenerife lace at each corner just inside a wide hemstitch edge. Measurement is 34 x 36 inches. It's in excellent vintage condition. Vtg Antique Irish Linen Damask Banquet Tablecloth Napkins Set 1929 Shakespeare Fabulous Set 13pcs Scenes of Shakespeare Plays Unique. This is a fabulous Antique Irish Damask Linen Tablecloth set w/ 12 large lapkin size matching napkins. It came from a Main Line Philadelphia Estate. It's very large and please remember these are most difficult to photograph. Some have been slightly darkened to help show the scenes in the weave. The outside margins of both the napkins and the tablecloth have scenes from plays by Shakespeare depicted on a stage with curtains separating the scenes. The scenes are labeled in the damask weave itself underneath each scene and I attempted to show this in the photos. They include Romeo and Juliet. Coriolanus, Antony& Cleopatra, Taming of the Shrew(on the tablecloth) The Merchant of Venise, Julius Caesar, The ... moreMerry Wives of Windsor(appear on both tablecloth and napkins) and King Lear on the corners of the napkins. There are vignettes of William Shakespeare mid way up the cloth on the corners of both the napkins and tablecloth. The center of the tablecloth has a parade of the characters above the scenes forming a center oval and above them closer to center are a ring of nymph type creatures that look slightly wicked. It's quite the piece! You don't find damasks like this often. Not your typical floral damask by any means. Hand hemmed as expected on a quality set like this. There is a handwritten tag pinned to the cloth showing the measurements and stating this was purchased in Ireland in 1929. It's a fabulously beautiful set. Which is quite unique and in quite wonderful condition. Just exactly the type of item I search for and love to offer my customers. Condition is really nice there are no holes or major stains. This set is untreated. There are faint fold lines from being stored. Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 2 QUALITY ANTIQUE CUT GLASS CANDLESTICKS ANGLO- IRISH Presented is a great pair of antique cut crystal or glass candlesticks. The candlesticks are almost certainly Anglo-Irish in origin. They date to the 1800s. But they could be as early as the 1700s. We believe they date from the first half of the 1800s. They are certainly old. The stem has a large, tear-shaped globe at the lower end with a large tear-drop shaped control bubble blown in its center. The glass is nicely cut with various geometric designs. The candlesticks have good weight. The candlesticks are not marked. As should be expected. The candlesticks are in excellent condition. The glass has a bit of wear on the underside. Just as you would expect on pieces of this age. Both candlesticks have a few minor flakes ... moreand fleabites here and there, almost entirely along the bottom edge where the candlesticks would meet the table, but these minor flaws are not very noticeable. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. There are no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The candlesticks measure 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the base and 9 3/4 inches tall.
