Douglas Corrigan[1907 1995] was an American aviator who was nicknamed'Wrong Way' In 1938. He was denied permission to make a nonstop flight from New York to Ireland because his plane was deemed unable to complete the trip. Douglas Corrigan proved them wrong but to avoid problems with the authorities he claimed he misread his compass and while he was enroute to California on a authorized flight he somehow landed in Ireland.
