Light minor age wear, blank margins trimmed close to engraved border, small edge splits mended on back with archival tape, a slight inoffensive wrinkle to bottom left of map, overall very presentable and attractive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. Saint Kitts, and Nevis in original hand color, printed more than 195 years ago. These three detailed maps are on one large sheet titled West India Islands. Published by John Thomson, Edinburgh, 1817. The overall image area measures a generous 49.9 x 58.8[19-1/2" x 23-1/2" The beautiful coloring. Dramatic topography, and coastal shading give this map great aesthetic appeal. It labels parishes, forts, towns, rivers, and coastal features. Longitude is measured from London and Ferro. The scans below give a closer look: Among the many specific labeled features are Charlestown. On Nevis, and the Guard House and Ruins of a Fort on St. Lucia. On St. Christophers, the map locates the site near Limekiln Bay where the Childs Play Man of War was lost on the rocks in 1707. It also labels"Arse Hole or Shitten Bay. Old Road Town, Bloody Point, Londonderry Fort, St. Georges Fort, Irish Town, Red Gate, Diep Bay, and more. Condition: The map has been trimmed to the neat line at the bottom.
