Early antique quilt.It is a log cabin.wonderful turkey red center squares surrounded by small scale calicos and what appears as a brown looks like it was purple known as fugitive purple(check out the close-up pictures)so many wonderful fabrics in this. A true textile gem. I wish I could take a picture of every fabric so you could see them all. I think it was constructed using the foundation piecing method and there are some small ties that you have to look hard for. This is not hand quilted. I adore the backing fabric this quilter used as well. It was made for a four poster bed so you can see the cut outs at the bottom. Binding is a solid red an is not frayed or weak. There are no weak fabrics or seam splits or holes of any kind. There are a few age marks on the front and a few faint ones on the back.Still this is.lovely to use or display. ... moreMeasures 84" long x 84" across with a 10" square cutaway area for poster bed. Antique OPERA Poster PICTURE 1921 Tea Leaves decoupaged on Hard Wood
Antique Memorabilia( OPERATIC EDITION) which is stated on the top. From an early Opera called"TEA LEAVES" which hit New York in or around 1921. It was produced by Jerome H. Remick& Co. and was told by Raymond B. Egan. And set to music by Richard A. Whiting. This old edition is decoupage on a piece of solid wood. This is an antique but is very secure. There are not any tears. Holes, or missing paper. Written on the top left corner, is the word SONG, and on the bottom left corner is written, FREDERICK S. MANNING. Romeyn Hooghe(1685)The print shows the complex of pleasure gardens of Enghien near Brussels. The plan is part of a series of prints commissioned by Nicolaas Visscher II(1649-1702) and engraved by Romeyn de Hooghe(1645-1708) A labyrinth was an invariable attraction in such pleasure gardens. Walking over artfully designed pathways and between thick grown hedges visitors had to find the core of the labyrinth.
