An usually VG bright impression of this rare'Miniature Speed' map. The map comes professionally mounted and wrapped in cellophane. KEERE. Pieter van der(Petrus Kaerius) Pieter van den Keere was one of a number of refugees who fled from religious persecution in the Low Countries between the years 1570 and 1590. He moved to London in 1584 with his sister who married Jodocus Hondius. Also a refugee there, and through Hondius he undoubtedly learned his skills as an engraver and cartographer. In the course of a long working life he engraved a large number of individual maps for prominent cartographers of the day but he also produced an Atlas of the Netherlands(1617-22) and county maps of the British Isles which have become known as Miniature Speeds, a misnomer which calls for some explanation. In about 1599 he engraved plates for 44 maps of the English and Welsh counties. The regions of Scotland and the Irish provinces. Entirely hand crafted to perfection on a light cream Irish linen, pre 1930s. 1 table runner and 8 matching table mats. Embellished with the design of flowers, urns and swirls influenced by the natural beauty of Portugal. The colour of the thread is more silver ... morethan taupe with a variety of needlework. Including reticella lace inserts, buratto lace, cutwork, seeded stitching and of course the amazing satin stitch. This lovely set was once part of a Trousseau. They have been part of my collection for a number of years and are in pristine condition, a few pieces have been lightly used by myself for displays purposes only, so are a slight shade lighter because they have had an extra wash. A perfect set to collect and will last for many more generations to come. Runner measures 38cm or 15 inches x 102cm or 40 inches. Antique Kevin Barry Irish Republican Army Patriot Hand Coloured Etching Ireland
Antique Hand Etched Kevin Barry Art Piece Hand Crafted Frame Must have been a labour of Love. Never seen another like this. Kevin Barry was an 18 year old medical student executed following an ambush on British troops in Dublin in which one soldier is killed. On the morning of 20 September 1920. Kevin Barry went to Mass and received Holy Communion, he then joined a party of IRA volunteers on Bolton Street in Dublin. Their orders were to ambush a British army truck as it picked up a delivery of bread from a bakery and capture their weapons. The ambush was scheduled for 11AM, which gave him enough time to take part in the operation and return to UCD in time for a Medical examination he had at 2PM. Captured at the scene, Barry was court martialled and hanged in Mountjoy Jail November 1st 1920. He was the first Republican to be executed since ... morethe leaders of the Easter Rising of 1916. The execution of Barry led to a swell of support for the Independence struggle, both nationally and internationally. The last image attached is a poignant letter from an 18 year old boy about to meet his end. Letter not included) Written in blue prison pencil in his cell on Halloween night. The night before his execution, this composed letter was one in which Kevin Barry said his farewells to his pals. Dear Boys. Antique Irish Mail Cart
1933 Irish Mail Cart. I believe it to be a Hill-Standard Irish Mail by the name plate on the front axle, There is no other information on the cart. This cart was purchased from the ORIGINAL owner(making me the second) His father bought it new in 1934, I was told by him that it has all the original parts(except for some screws that needed to be replaced) even the tow hook is original! Has original paint(whats left of it) with the original pin stripping still visible, the seat appears to have been repainted or at least touched up(a long time ago) and one hub cap missing.the front axle is cast iron and has a differential type gearing inside(see the last picture) which allows you to pump and steer at the same time and the piece on top with the 33 on it is also cast iron. The whole thing weighs just over 51 pounds, This is one well made machine ... moreit is 21 inches wide 24 inches to the top of the hook and 63 inches long from the bumper to the hook, the axle's are 44 inches apart and the wheels are 12 inches. Most of all the assembly points on the frame are rivets. I have found only 1 picture of this machine on the internet and it was a 1932(as it had a 32 on it instead of 33) and it did not have the tow hitch. It was just a picture with no information about it. I have never seen another like it. If anyone has information on this Irish Mail and is willing to pass it on to me I would appreciate it. Offered is this very old cylinder type record in its original box(minus lid) The box is a great piece as it says"Edison Blue Amber" on one side and has a portrait of Edison on the other. It is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and about 4 1/2 inches tall. The lid to the cylindrical box is missing. The bottom of the cylinder box is broken and one edge of the hard wax cylinder and the plaster undercasing is crumbled a bit. The end with the name of the song and is in great shape. Displays well! Antique quilt made in a striking combination of red. Yellow, green, and white. This quilt was both hand and machine pieced; the hand quilting follows the seams and contours of the pieces at 5- 7 spi. Absolutely beautiful and striking from a distance or nearby. There are two shades of olive-like green that may have once been"poison green" The red is still strong and bright. It has bled or soaked variously onto the back and some of the white parts of the front- you will find very light pinkish areas throughout the back(see the fourth image) Which is otherwise a solid white. I found several tiny pin punctures like the one in the third image. Also the corner seams have weakened or have already been mended(see fourth image) The red fabric is coming out of the binding in a few spots. Each less than.5" in length. No other notable ... moreholes, discoloration or stains. Overall an outstanding quilt that has been very well preserved. The batting is cotton. This is powered by pumping the handle bars back and forth. Steering is done by using your feet. the gal at this sale said it was made in the 1940's, but I have no definite verification of this. Car is in very good condition considering its age. The body on this thing is in very good shape with only 1 small dent on nose. It does have slight surface rust, but the decals can still be read with no problem. The left front tire looks like it has sat of some hot asphalt at some time-looks like it has melted on one spot.One of the handle grips has a crack on it. This is all shown in pics. Car measures 35" long from front tire to back of rear tire. Rear tires are ... more12" tall. Front tires are 8" tall. Handle bars measure 12" across end-to-end. Antique / Vintage Traditional Irish Claddagh Brass Door Knocker
This is an Antique/ Vintage Traditional Irish Claddagh Motif Solid Brass Door Knocker. The Claddagh symbolism often seen on Irish Claddagh rings has the traditional elements of hands. Heart, and crown, incorporating themes of Love, Friendship, and Loyalty. Detailed history and other information can be found from a variety of sources online. At the top, the knocker also has a traditional Irish harp motif as seen. The door knocker is about 5 1/4" tall and 4 1/4" wide. It weighs 14 ounces. Just under a pound, and it has a very nice heavy feel. The person I bought the knocker from felt it might be as early as turn of the 2oth Century but I do not know at all if that attribution is correct and we are not making any specific claims about the age. I will note however. That I saw several vintage Claddagh knockers that looked very similar ... moreon the front but different on the back with a completely different maker's mark than the CM mark in the casting on the back of this one as seen. I thought that might suggest this was a relatively older example, but again, I do not know for sure. The threaded, headless bolts for the knocker and the included brass strike plate look to me like they might not be as old as the rest of the knocker, but I do not know for sure. Condition Overall the knocker is in excellent condition and we will guarantee your satisfaction in that regard. The only issue I noted. A very minor one, is that there was some slight evidence of the strike plate being hit by the knocker leading to the conclusion that the knocker was installed and used at some time. 1870s Knights of Father Matthew Irish Temperance Catholic antique sword
The Knights of Father Mathew was a Catholic temperance society that originated in Ireland and promoted complete abstinence from intoxicating liquors. It was founded in Cork in 1838 by Theobald Mathew. A Capuchin friar- generally known as Father Mathew. Under his influence, branches the organization spread throughout Ireland, though it was badly disrupted by the Great Irish Famine of 1846 to 1849. Father Mathew also travelled inEngland and Scotland(1842) and in the USA(1849 to 1851) to preach temperance. It is estimated that 7,000,000 took the pledge of abstinence under his influence. Father Mathew began his work in the U.S. in 1849, at which time he was entertained by the President and granted a seat within the bar of the Senate and on the floor of the House. An amazing antique plaque. With very high relief dogs- Irish Setters, I think- one resting and the other standing- on a rock among vines, grass, flowers, a tree stump and a fence. The plaque is covered in a thick cream colored paint that has crazing in it. 20 inches long, 12 1/4 inches high; 2 1/4 inches thick. I'm not sure what it is made from. It looks like a clay and seems to have fibers through it. It's a very impressive piece. Auction not open to those with 0 feedback. Auction open to US bidders only. 18th Century Irish Provincial Silver Sugar Tongs Carden Terry Cork 1790 Antique
A very rare pair of 18th century cast silver Irish provincial Sugar Tongs by Carden Terry of Cork. Date from around 1790. Marked CT for Carden Terry of Cork inside the bowls of the tongs. A very rare find and I cannot recall having seen any before although I have had many pieces of Carden Terry silver items. Good gauge cast silver weighing 45 grams Approx 5.5" long. Armorial crest engraved to the end- possibly representing a paddle steamer paddle wheel. Generally in good condition. There is evidence of a couple of minor professional repairs where there has been cracking of the cast arms. However these do not detract from the overall appearance of such a rare item. NO RESERVE

Exceptional Louis Lot early wooden Boehm conical flute#2195 According to serial number#2195 engraved on headjoint and body. This lovely wooden flute was made in 1876. The famous Paul Taffanel's#2104 Louis Lot flute was made just a few monthes before that one! This year was the last Louis Esprit Lot worked at the shop he founded in 1855. During 1876, he retired and transmitted the shop to Villette. In the Louis Lot catalog. This flute is called Modèle N°11: Flûte Boehm à Anneaux en bois de Grenadille. Garniture et mécanisme en Maillechort, à patte de Ré" In english: Grenadilla wooden ringed Boehm flute. Maillechort mechanism, D foot" A similar instrument is pictured in the middle of page 193 in the book from Tula Giannini. Great Flute Makers of France: The Lot& Godfroy Families 1650– 1900" ... moreThis flute was discovered in very good original condition. Just two pads were missing. So they have been replaced, keys lubricated and beautiful flamed wood carefully oiled. Now the flute plays easily from top to bottom. Most of the pads are very old(maybe original) but remain efficient. Action is incredibly light and easy! Louis Lot#2195 seems not have been very much played during her 137 years life. Next owner will certainly decide to show the flute to his personal repairman, but the instrument plays pretty fine right now. This wonderful instrument delivers Louis Lot wonderfully rich and full tone. Combined with an exceptional singing quality and a special dark and haunting touch that early Louis Lot flutes are able to deliver. Please look at the perfect oval cut of the embouchure hole! This historical instrument is today able to satisfy any professional flutist looking for the elegant and subtle sound of very early wooden Boehm flutes Among other conical wooden Lot I've played, I find this particular one suprisingly powerful! The Holy Bible. Containing the Old and New Testaments, etc. Dublin: Printed by George Grierson. 1739. Extremely rare 2nd Edition Irish imprinted Bible from 1739. Original leather with stamped design. As shown, well rubbed; spine with raised bands, as well as heavy tape repair, damage, and splitting. Hinges intact altough splitting and brittle. Center of binding with a stress point but still holding. Contains the Old& New Testaments as well as the Apocrypha. Which is in the list of books and is separately signed, although the first gathering is signed Eee rather than A. The index is separately signed, and complete minus the last two leaves which are missing. The N.T. has a separate titlepage, also dated 1739 in Dublin. The main title is present, but with some damage, margin loss, and creasing/tattering, as shown. A few scattered tape scars ... morethroughout, as well as some toning and a few stains.
