Colton was one of the premier American map publishers of the era- map is dated 1855. Shows city plans of the 2 river towns, the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Matted and framed in a white bamboo-look frame with plexiglass sheet(not glass) Original map price was $150, inexpensive frame was approx $40. Can be easily removed or reframed, if desired, plexiglass and mat are protecting map. Size of map approx 18.5" x 15" Frame size is 23" hi x 19" wide. No. 36 in top right corner. Framed antique Pocket Map of 48 United States Wagner & Debes "OK Territories" AZ
Up for auction is a vintage antique Wagner& Debes map of the 48 states ca"Oklahoma Territories" era but with AZ intact(which puts it 1907- 1912) with some of Mexico& Canada as well. This was recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It is a great framed example of the early pocket maps. You can see the discoloration on the middle right of its original size that it was stored in, and it must have been used to some degree showing the use in the fold at the opposite end. It appears it suffered so much wear that some of it was cut off on the top and bottom left, but cut off so long ago that the cut lines are discolored. There are tears to the map and losses around the edges and great wear to the folds, but that does give it its charm. We feel they did a very nice job with the framing and picked the perfect ... moreframe as the black lip accents the type and details of the map and the brown accents the subtle colors of the map. We just would put a tan mat behind it so that there is less contrast, will pop the colors if the map is closer to a dark tan or dark brown. But to each their own! A great early map worthy of any office or any hallway or any library or any spot that one sees fit. The map measures 12 x 20" in a custom frame with glass 16 x 23" overall which could benefit from glass cleaner and dusting of the frame. Best of luck in bidding. This map of the Island of Oahu(Territory of Hawaii) was hanging in an old barn in northern Indiana when I purchased it at an estate sale. It is very cool but I have no idea on how old it is. It says it was published and distributed by Hawaii Visitors Bureau Honolulu Hawaii. It looks very fragile so I did not attempt to remove it from the frame. It does have some light staining on front and top corners are worn. The light paper on the back of the frame is torn some but doesn't affect anything on the frame or map. The framed map is 14x11. 1888 "Cram's Unrivaled" Stebbins Framed Antique Map of Colorado - Pristine
Shortly after the territory of Colorado became a state in 1874. Cartographers quickly set to work mapping its counties, roads, rivers, lakes, and mountains. This 1888 wonderful specimen from Cram's Unrivaled Atlas of the World, published by Henry S. Stebbins(of Chicago) shows all of that, in color. The map has no tears. Thin spots, or even sun fading. A label, showing the 1888 date and the publisher's name and address, is affixed to the back of the picture, along with a wire for mounting. Early antique framed embroidery Map of England & Wales
Very early antique embroidery- Map of England& Wales. Framed. Size of frame: 21 x 20 inches. A primitive map although the embroidery decoration is b eautifully executed. It may be possible to date this given the crude map of the counties of England and their names. But I would guess this is at least as early as Georgian, but probably a lot earlier than that. The silk on which the emroidery has been done is. In places, perished with age and the original colours faded- but all part of its charm. The frame is probably more recent than the emboidery itself and typically Victorian. Collection recommended but will post if the buyer accepts all risk of loss or damage in transit. This vintage map of Pioneer Hartford was designed i 1927 by James and Ruth Goldie. With early landmarks and locations of historical events. This map is truly an amazing piece for any Connecticut resident or map enthusiast. The size with frame is 25" by 19" The map shows signs of age but the front is in overall good shape. Originally this map was professionally framed but over the years the back paper has come off. The frame itself is still intact. We picked this map up at an estate sale in Windham Center,Ct. in the late 80's. We have not found any map similar to this and would like to know the process in which this map was imprinted. anyone with any information we would greatly appreciate your response. Wood Framed Metal Bleau World Map Antique 1964 by Masketeers Inc.
This piece is so unique and beautiful. Unlike many of the foil printed maps you find. This map is actually printed on metal, and secured onto a custom wood cut frame. It's in excellent condition, with no major flaws, scratches, cracks, etc. Holds lots of history. As you can see from the pictures. There is a history of people who have had and hung this piece, along with the dates it was hung. So cool to have that extra bit of a story with it. This piece is very large. Measuring 44inx30.5in It's about an inch thick, except for the round detailed pieces at the top center and bottom center, where is measures about 2 inches. This is a vintage piece that was made in 1964 by the Masketeers Inc. in Charleston. WV. The print is done from the original 1678 17th century map drawn up by John Ogilby and William Morgan. Unlike other antique maps. This one is not hand coloured. The map is framed. It is a wooden frame in black and gold with glass. The back of the map has several names written on it. Possibly from a club or local authority, and the date October 1968. We believe that this was a dat when the print was framed and presented as a gift. Condition: The map print is excellent condition. The frame is also holding up well for its age. There are no significant marks or scratches other than the small one shown in the gallery above. Extends northward as far as Pembroke Shire and St. Brides Bay. Includes London and the Isle of Wright. On the opposite side of the Channel this map covers from Goulet Harbor eastward to Boulogne.
