Up for Bid is a Beautiful Antique Map of"Russia In Europe. It is detailed and has a part of Prussia as well which indicates that it was made before 1918 as Prussia was not longer called by that name after World War I. I definitely think it was done prior to the Russian Revolution and put it in the 1890-1914 time frame. Saint Petersburg looks like the main city and capitol as it was prior to the Revolution in 1917. All the canals of Saint Petersburg are visible in the inset map of it. The frame also looks old and I though it best to leave it in the old frame. I think this map was sectioned and put into different frames. So. It looks like a portion of the map to me. The paper has lines in it that look like it is printed on linen paper. Had professionally dry mounted, matted in dark natural linen mat with black wood filet and a simple black wood frame, each measuring 17.5"w x 20.5"h. Set of two are of the EASTERN HEMISPHERE and WESTERN HEMISPHERE respectively, with tons of charm and detail in very subtle neutral tones/color. I don't have any details as to the origins of the prints as it was so long ago. This framed map of Huntingdonshire is by cgeographer. H. Moll. It is housed in fairly modern, gilt frame and the map has signs of discolouration and a little fading: there are also some tiny insects under the glass. It is a fascinating map and record of the time when the map was produced: it has not been removed from the frame and is still sealed at the back(please see images for further information) The frame measures 34cms by 23cms and is in very good condition. The map appears to have some age, judging by the condition, but I am unsure whether it is an original by Moll or whether it is a later version. There is a crease line across the middle. A fantastic framed antique map of Essex. Published in 1777. It shows the Chafford Hundred area north of the Thames around Thurrock and Tilbury. Extending to Mucking and Corinham in the east, Hornchuch and Wenington in the west, and Great Warley and Dunton in the North. It's plate 22 of John Chapman and Peter André's survey of Essex. Which was one of the most famous 18th century large-scale maps. It combined a wealth of detail with extraordinary accuracy Minor roads through the countryside are shown in great detail. With hills, woods, parks and heaths clearly depicted and often named. Nearly every house and cottage outside towns and villages is marked, whilst the principal seats and their owners, and most of the manor houses, and farm houses are named. Outstanding 16th century map of Asia by noted European cartographer Abraham Ortelius. This beautifully detailed map has been hand colored with red triangles highlighting the cities. A real piece of history. This map shows the early spellings, names and borders as well as distorted or misplaced misplaced shorelines and a distinct gap near the top, probably the famed northwest passage. This map was released in several editions dating from the 1570's through the 1580's. There is some light tanning to this piece and some foxing at the corners. There is also some creasing in the center where it was most likely removed from a book. Otherwise it is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. This stunning decorative map was originally published in the marine atlas De Zee–Atlas ofte Water-Werel. In Amsterdam in 1666. It is one of the most lavishly decorated world maps to appear in a Dutch atlas. It is a highly detailed double-hemisphere map which closely follows the work of Visscher and Blaeu. It includes insets of the North and South Pole and the empty South Pole region titled Australis Incognita. The continent of Australia, named Hollandia Nova, includes the southern tip of Tasmania as charted by Abel Tasman. I purchased this map along with two other Scandinavian items from an elderly couple of Swedish descent. I know very little about maps but I'm sure this is not a print and am confident is was hand drawn by John Jacobsson and is dated as 1908. It has incredible patina and is in its original frame. It is faded and somewhat loose in the frame.However the wonderful character is obvious when holding it in your hands and viewing it up close. The frame measures 14" X 18" X.5" and the map(glued to a cardboard backing) measures 13" x 17" It's hard for pictures to do justice to the uniqueness of the piece but I guarantee it's not something you come across every day. Here for auction is a rare antique hand coloured map of North Wales by Rob Morden. A very interesting item. Printed from the original 17th Century engraved survey by Morden. Robert Morden was a geographer who began business at the Atlas. In Cornhill, London from 1668 to 1703. Morden's survey of North Wales was based on the first surveys ever made, which was carried out by Christopher Saxton, whose work was published in 1579, and also on the subsequent survey of John Speed who published his Atlas in 1611. This map will enhance almost any room. Living space, working space and will undoubtedly make for an interesting topic of discussion. Up for you consideration is the antique 1794 map of Scotland. It was published by Laurie& Whittle No 53 Fleet Street. It measures print size is 20" x 22" the frame is 32 x 34 and it is matted. As you can see for 220 years old it is in rather nice condition with minor foxing(see pictures) I bought this from an estate and they collected many Scottish pieces.
