This beautiful. Very rare relic with statue reliquary of Saint Therese of Lisieux was obtained at an estate sale of an elderly French lady in Westchester County, New York. The relic is a piece of the original coffin Saint Therese was buried in 1897, in 1918 her body was exhumed and the original wood coffin was replaced by a metal one. The reliquary itself is metal, says made in France on back and measure 6 inch high, wax seal intact. The auction is only for the reliquary and relic, not the pictures in some of the pictures. I purchased a bunch of these with an estate clean out of an elderly priest. I know NOTHING on the subject so please ask me any and all questions PRIOR to bidding. She was born on the eastern side of Italy to a farming family. But increased poverty forced the family to move to the western side of the country when she was only six. Her father died when she was nine, and the family had to share a house with another family, the Serenellis. Maria took over household duties from her mother, while her mother and the rest of her family worked in the fields. One afternoon, Alessandro, the son ... moreof the Serenelli family, made sexual advances to her, but when she refused to submit to him because that would be a mortal sin, he stabbed her multiple times. Pii V. ~ from the ashes or dust of Saint Pius V It measures 1 1/4" x 1" The wax seal and threads are perfect. Ensuring the validity of the relic. The accompanying certificate of authenticity, or authenticate, is signed by Joseph Castellani, 1852. The wax seal on the back of the relic matches perfectly to both the impressed seal on the lower left, and the large printed seal in the upper middle. This relic contains 2 importand relics: EX VELO BVM- The Veil of Blessed Virgin Mary-OSS S. ANT PAT- Oss relic of Saint Anthony Padua also called Patova The reliquary itself is fire gilded with 24K gold. This was a process done mainly in France where the base metal was heated up then gilded with a mixture of pure gold and mercury. The mercury would evaporate. Leaving a rich gold gilding. This was a dangerous process for the guilders, as they usually ended up with mercury poisoning. Don't worry, the mercury is all gone, and this is safe to wear. From the style of this reliquary. This is another relic from the estate of a French Archbishop's extensive relic collection. This is a relic of Saint Joseph's staff or walking stick. The relic is labeled: S. Joseph Sp BM. Saint Joseph, spouse of the Virgin Mary There are no first class relics of Saint Joseph. Ancient church tradition says he was assumed into heaven. Like the Blessed Mother, but this is not church dogma. There are 3 different relics associated with and venerated for Saint Joseph; his cloak. His staff and his belt. This relic is from his staff. The main relic of his staff is encased in silver and kept in the Hermitage of Camaldoli in Central Italy. The staff St. Joseph holds comes from an apocryphal tale. According to The Golden Legend. Several men besides Joseph wanted Mary's hand in marriage. Each suitor, the story goes, was instructed by the ... morehigh priest to place a staff on an altar.
