He ... morekept that vow. His life of humility and penance led to miraculous occurrences– as when he healed the sick with the touch of his cloak. Or appeared surrounded by a supernatural light during his hospital visits. St. Peter Claver's work ended with his death in 1654. He had baptized and taught the faith to more than 300.000 slaves during his four decades in Colombia. Dimensions: 1 1/8“ diameter x 5/16” thick. Weight: 2 oz.
Rare Medal Relic Pin St Anthony Tongue
Found this interesting pin in a bunch of vintage jewelry that my dad purchased years ago from an auction. He's a hoarder who buys anything. I mean anything! Also found 9 pairs of crutches, lol. Anyways, I did some research on it and here is what I found out about it. Saint Anthony is the patron saint of Padua Padova and his remains are housed in the cathedral there(the"Santo" The story goes that his vault was reopened 30 years after entombment and although his flesh was reduced to dust. His tongue was still intact- hence your reference. The story of St Anthony's tongue. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia is: The name of Anthony became celebrated throughout the world. And with it the name of Padua. The inhabitants of that city erected to his memory a magnificent temple, whither his precious relics were transferred in ... more1263, in presence of St. Bonaventure, Minister General at the time. When the vault in which for thirty years his sacred body had reposed was opened, the flesh was found reduced to dust but the tongue uninjured, fresh, and of a lively red color. St. Bonaventure, beholding this wonder, took the tongue affectionately in his hands and kissed it, exclaiming: O Blessed Tongue that always praised the Lord, and made others bless Him, now it is evident what great merit thou hast before God. All sales are final and sold as is. Not mint but still in wonderful condition. Sorry my camera does not take very good pics. Thank you! Posted with

Very rare St. Audite, bishop of Braga (Portugal), martyr relic!
Very rare St. Audite. Bishop of Braga(Portugal) martyr relic! In a 19th century hard wood reliquaire(dimensions cm. 4.3 x 1.5; small defect at the edge as in the second picture) there is a cloth containing the relic. Above there is a cloth tape. Inscribed with ST. OVIDE MARTIR; the relic is sorrounded by four gold leaf stars with shining glass paste. According to 16th century hagiographic sources. S. Audito was a Sicilian Roman citizen; Pope St. Clement I, sent him to Braga in Portugal, where he became the third Bishop of the city( 95) and then martyred for the faith in 135. The Portuguese Braga called Ouvido( popular translation of Latin Gaspar) Which in the 16th and 17th centuries erupted into Ovid, so much so that on the previous tombstone placed over his tomb in the Cathedral of Braga. Which bore the inscription: + bones b. Audit. Episcopi" ... morethen was placed the inscription: + bones s. Ovidii tertii bracarensis episcopi" Testimonies of the 17th century claim that in many ancient hermitages, places on the lusitanians. S. Audito was depicted in Roman or Episcopal robes or hermitical communities, holding in his left hand the Gospel. These paintings are evidence of ancient worship intended. Because of his name, s. Audito has always been invoked against auditory apparatus diseases; under the base of his tomb in the Cathedral, there were two holes where the deaf, put your fingers and then put them in their ears. It was the usual way and devoted to implore the intercession of the Saint for their healing. The feast of this Bishop of Braga is celebrated on June 3. RARE CATHOLIC RELIC RELIQUARY OF ST. CORNELIUS, POPE, MARTYR
TOP-ANTIQUE-ARTS Item description RARE CATHOLIC RELIC RELIQUARY OF ST. CORNELIUS. POPE, MARTYR Saint Cornelius was elected Pope in 251 during the persecutions of the Emperor Decius. His first challenge. Besides the ever present threat of the Roman authorities, was to bring an end to the schism brought on by his rival, the first anti-pope Novatian. He convened a synod of bishops to confirm him as the rightful successor of Peter. The great controversy that arose as a result of the Decian persecution was whether or not the Church could pardon and receive back into the Church those who had apostacized in the face of martyrdom. Against both the bishops who argued that the Church could not welcome back apostates. And those who argued that they should be welcomed back but did not demand a heavy penance of the penitent, Cornelius decreed that they ... moremust be welcomed back and insisted that they perform an adequate penance. In 253 Cornelius was exiled by the emperor Gallus and died of the hardships he endured in exile. He is venerated as a martyr. eBay Policy prohibits the sale of human remains and I am required to disclosure what the Relics are: These Relics are a piece of hair of the Saint and/or a piece of cloth worn by the Saint. Both of which are allowed by eBay Policy. They are sacred and devotional Relics of the Church. If you have any further specific questions regarding these Holy Relics, please email me. OFFERED IS A PRIZED EXTREMELY RARE 18TH CENTURY RELIQUARY WITH CERTIFICATE. THIS RARE ANTIQUE RELIQUARY WAS ACQUIRED FROM THE COLLECTION OF BISHOP LUPIS FROM ITALY WHICH WAS A DEVOTEE OF THIS SAINT, THE RELIC IS OF ST PEREGRINE LAZIOSI WHICH IS THE PATRON SAINT OF CANCER PATIENTS. St. Peregrine was born in Forli. Italy, around 1265. At that time, Forli was governed by the Pope as part of the Papal States, and Peregrine grew up in a family that was actively involved in the ... moreopposition, or anti-papal party. Because of anti-papal activity, the city was under the church penalty of interdict, meaning that Mass and the Sacraments could not be celebrated there. St. Philip Benizi, Prior General of the Servants of Mary, went to Forli to preach reconciliation. Young Peregrine, very intense in his political fervor, not only heckled Philip during his preaching, but, in fact, struck him. Philip, instead of responding with anger and violence to the attack, turned and forgave Peregrine. This encounter with Philip is said to have dramatically changed Peregrine. He began channeling his energy into good works and eventually joined the Servants of Mary in Siena. Italy. He returned to Forli, where he spent the rest of his life, dedicating himself to the sick, the poor, and those on the fringes of society. He also imposed on himself the penance of standing whenever it was not necessary to sit. This led to varicose veins, which later deteriorated into an open sore on his leg, and was eventually diagnosed as cancer. Peregrine's leg wound became so serious that the local surgeon decided to amputate the leg. The night before the surgery. Peregrine prayed before the im

Martyr 21 January 304(Fourth Day of Prayer For Christian Unity) Agnes is a Christian martyr who died at Rome around 304 in the persecution of Diocletian: the last and fiercest of the persecutions of Christianity by the Roman emperors. The anniversary of her martyrdom is observed on 21 January. Her name means"pure" in Greek and"lamb" in Latin. She is said to have been only about twelve or thirteen when she died. And the remains preserved in St Agnes' Church in Rome are in agreement ... morewith this. It is said that her execution shocked many Romans and helped bring an end to the persecutions. Some said. It is contrary to Roman law to put a virgin to death. Our leaders say that it is necessary to kill Christians in order to preserve the old Roman ways: but they are themselves scorning those ways in the process. Others said. Do young girls constitute such a threat to Rome that it is necessary to kill them? Others said. If this religion can enable a twelve-year-old girl to meet death without fear, it is worth checking out. There is a narrative poem by Keats. Called"The Eve of Saint Agnes. It is a romantic poem with a mediaeval setting, about an elopement the night before St Agnes' Day. The only tie-in with Agnes is that(presumably because she died as a young virgin) Agnes is regarded as the patron of young unmarried girls, and there is a folk-belief that a girl who goes to bed supperless on the eve of St Agnes's Day will dream that night about her husband-to-be. Isidore De Loor. C.P. Also known as Isidore of Saint Joseph. He was born on April 18. 1881, in the village of Vrasene, now part of the Municipality of Beveren, East Flandern. His parents, Aloïs De Loor and Kamilla Hutsebaut, a deeply religious couple, had been married for two years when Isidore was born. Isidore’s education came to an end when he was aged 12 and from then on he joined his father in working on the family’s farm. He grew up to be a devout and hard-working young man and often thought of following a vocation to the religious life. At a mission given by the Redemtorist Fathers he discussed the ma
ANTIQUE CATHOLIC RELIC FIRST CLASS ST. FRANCIS AND ST. CLARE OF ASSISI *RARE*
UP FOR AUCTION A VERY OLD AND EXTREMELY RARE FIRST CLASS RELIQUARY OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI AND ST. CLARE OF ASSISI. VIRGIN. IT IS VERY RARE TO HAVE THESE TWO VENERABLE SAINTS TOGETHER. WE HAVE ADDED SOME HISTORY OF THESE SAINTS: Stories about St. Francis and St. Clare are plentiful. Who has not heard of Francis preaching to hundreds of birds about being thankful to God for their wonderful clothes. For their independence, and for God’s care for them? The story tells us the birds stood still as he walked among them, only flying off when he said they could leave. It was often reported that wild animals– rabbits, birds, even a wolf– became tame before Francis. Or early in his conversion, the experience of Francis’ encounter with a leper he met on the road? Though having a great aversion to the lepers, Francis was led to embrace the leper and ... moresought to minister to this marginalized community. And of Clare, who as her convent was about to be attacked, prayed before the Blessed Sacrament, forcing the attackers to flee? Possibly the greatest heritage Francis and Clare leave for us is a deeply rooted desire for God. A fervent commitment to prayer, and a life that generates action. Today one and a half million Franciscans live throughout the world in many groups belonging to the three Orders– the Friars Minor, the Poor Clares, and the Third Order Franciscans. Franciscan institutions today include colleges and universities, hospitals, missions serving the poor and marginalized, and organizations engaging in activities on behalf of peace and the environment globally and locally. THE THECA IS A LITTLE OVER 1/2" AROUND. AND THE NAMES ARE WRITTEN IN A VERY OLD FASHIONED SCRIPT. WE HAVE LEFT IT AS WE ACQUIRED IT; ON A CHAIN WITH A ST. CHRISTOPHER/ST. ANTHONY MEDAL ATTACHED. THE METAL IS SILVER; WE DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS STERLING AS THERE DO NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY MARKS, BUT IT IS IN NEED OF A CLEANING. WE DID NOT WANT TO COMPROMISE THE RELIQUARY TO SEE IF IT WOULD OPEN. AS ALWAYS, ONLY THE RELIQUARY IS FOR SALE. SHIPPING IS $2

RARE Estate Find: Magnificent Reliquary + 2nd Class relic St. Vincent de Paul
This magnificent reliquary with the hand painted portrait on porcelain of St. Vincent de Paul with a piece of his black habit cloth enclosed under glass in the special relic compartment. With beautifully detailed brass holding it all, was obtained at the estate sale of a very wealthy French lady in NYC. Her family said she brought it over from France years ago as she had a great devotion to the Saint of Charity. The believe it was made in the late 1800's or early 1900's by his order the Vincentians. It is 6 inches tall from base to top of cross and 3 inches wide, in excellent condition for age, a truly rare piece of devotional art with a cloth worn by the Saint. The wax seal and threads are intact and to show the age of this relic a close-up picture of the wax seal shows some deterioration with age. Another very unique feature of ... morethis Vincentians relic is that a very small medal of Our Lady has been added to the seal and threads, the family told me the lady spoke to a Vincentian father who told her it was the custom of their order in the late 1800's to add a medal of Our Lady to all relics out of respect for Our Lady and to further insure the seal was not broken. It can be free standing as the pictures show or it has a metal loop so it could be hung on the wall.

RARE Estate Sale Find: Magnificent Vintage Reliquary + Relic St. Rita of Cascia
This beautiful and very rare reliquary with relic of Saint Rita was obtained at the estate sale of a wealthy Italian lady in Philadelphia. Her family did not know the history of how she obtained it. She"always had it, had a great devotion to Saint Rita" The reliquary itself is a 12 inch plaster statue of St. Rita, beautiful face with a bump on the forehead where St. Rita received the stigmata of Our Lords' thorn. It is a heavy statue, and has been damaged and repaired in the past. A close up of the neck region shows that is where the head was severed from the body, it has been repaired and seems stable to me. There are also some paint chips missing, especially at the gold base; the family told me they covered the exposed white plaster where the base was chipped with artist pigment called golden ochre, it matches amazingly well. ... moreThey did this before the estate sale. The statue weighs nearly 2 1/2 pounds, very heavy and fairly large(12 inches) The statue also has a serial number on the back bottom. The relic itself it a metal cross with the relic enclosed in the front compartment, it cant be opened and on the reverse side is an icon showing St. Rita receiving the stigmata(I have pictures of both sides above) What the relic is of I have no idea and neither did the family nor do they know when the statue and relic were"married" to create a unique reliquary and holder but again"its always been like that" but obviously the two were separate at some time. I am offering it a a low price due to the damage to the reliquary. Please ask any questions, I have tried to show as much damage as I can.

St.Gemma Galgani rare third class relic from Lucca, Italy.
Hi Asking a charitable donation for this rare St.Gemma Galgani third class relic. It is difficult to tell from the picture. But the relic is contained inside a small card that is not a prayer card; just a picture of the saint herself with the relic inside and postulator seal on the back. It may have originated from Lucca. Portions of the donation will be given to a Catholic poor charity(St Vincent DePaul Society) God bless.
